TGS 2017 – 8 Trailers From The Sony Conference

Tokyo is having their own gaming convention this week in the Tokyo Game Show. While TGS isn’t known for major announcements it has plenty of trailers and announcements to satiate our gaming hunger. Sony was in attendance, of course, and they had some pretty juicy stuff at their conference. Especially for Square Enix.

We got a few new announcements as well as some updates to older games. Here are 8 awesome trailers from the Sony Conference at TGS 2017.

Monster Hunter World

Get ready to hunt some monsters early next year. Not only was a new trailer shown at the conference but a worldwide release date was announced. Januaury 26th is when we’ll be able to step into Monster Hunter World. I never did get into the other games but this looks awfully appealing.

Shadow of the Colossus

I’m already sold on this game but we get longer look at the upcoming Shadow of the Colossus remake. It looks appropriately epic of course.

Left Alive

One of the new announcements from Square Enix is Left Alive. We didn’t get a lot of info from the trailer but it’s apparently a “survival action shooter”. The cool thing about this one is the team behind it. There is talent from games like Metal Gear, Xenoblade, and Final Fantasy working on this new project.

Final Fantasy IX

An interesting surprise from the conference, Final Fantasy IX was announced and is available in the store right now for a pretty good price. FFIX is one of the best Final Fantasy games and now you can get it on PS4.

Dragon’s Crown Pro

Dragon’s Crown was a action game on the PS3 and Vita that had a really cool artstyle. You can now add the PS4 to the list of Playstation platforms you’ll be able to play it on. 4K graphics and more upgrades included.

Noctis in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

News of a new Dissidia game has been floating around for some time now. Noctis from FFXIV is joining the ranks of Final Fantasy characters included in this fighting game.

Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner Remaster

Another game to add to the list of remasters is Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner. The one thing that makes this particular game stand out amongst the crowd is the VR support. You’ll be able to play the game in PS VR.

Detroit: Become Human

While not news for most of us, Detroit made it’s presence known for the Japanese with this trailer. There isn’t really anything new here but it’s kind of cool to see it presented to a different audience. Plus this game still looks good.

There were quite a few trailers shown just at the Sony conference at this year’s TGS. This is definitely not a comprehensive list but there is definitely a lot to look forward to anyway.

I’ll leave you with a nice treat. A Japanese ad for Playstation that is deliciously over the top and fun.

That's a good point, they have been very quiet about RE2. Definitely on my radar as well.

Just a word on Left Alive. It is confirmed to be set in the Front Mission universe, between FM5 and FME.

Now, most of the western publications gloss over this fact (because the person and series in question are both very unknown outside of Japan), but the game's director, Toshifumi Nabeshima, left FromSoftware a couple years ago, and got picked up to work on this game by Square. For those who don't know, Nabeshima is the guy who directed the vast majority of the Armored Core series.

That said, a lot of hopeful eyes were watching Left Alive, in hopes that maybe we'd get a new mech game, after years of drought. But, nope. Instead we just get Metal Gear in the Front Mission universe…

The game might still be good, I'm sure (though it probably won't, if Front Mission Evolved was anything to go by), but it did feel like a bit of a slap in the face, to those of us counting on Nabeshima to fill that Armored Core shaped hole…
