As usual, there are plenty of great games on tap for the holiday season.
But in your estimation, based on the hype generated by news, previews, trailers, general community talk, etc., which title currently qualifies as the most over-hyped of the fall?
Could it be the hugely anticipated Fallout 4 ? There are many who believe it's the only game left that could challenge the stellar Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for Game of the Year, and there's no doubt that Bethesda has flooded the Internet with all sorts of info and videos. I don't go more than a few days without seeing something new about this game, do you? I'm not saying it doesn't deserve the attention and basically, there's nothing wrong with hype. I'm just wondering if this is one game people might actually get sick of before it even shows up.
Then again, perhaps the title has to go to Call of Duty: Black Ops III simply because it's named Call of Duty . We all know Activision will pull out the big marketing guns within a matter of weeks here (frankly, I'm surprised the campaign blitz hasn't already started). CoD will be everywhere you look for the first part of November; that's for damn sure. However, maybe we shouldn't sleep on the hype generated by CoD's main competition this year, Star Wars: Battlefront . It's actually feasible that given the massive "Star Wars" following that exists in the world, EA's effort might compete favorably with Black Ops III in the sales department. It also helps that everyone seems to be loving the Battlefront beta.
Of course, we can't forget about Halo 5: Guardians ; it'll be massive for very much the same reason CoD is massive: Its name. Rise of the Tomb Raider is getting plenty of hype as well, but I find it odd that we're not hearing a huge amount about Assassin's Creed Syndicate or the Need for Speed reboot. Both are massive franchises, of course, but I think things have been a little quiet for those titles over the past month or so. And Syndicate will be here in less than two weeks.
Anyway, which games gets your vote as the over-hyped so far?
Fans have been waiting for Battlefront for 10 years.
That's gotta be the most hyped title.
yup ive been waiting so long for it!
I'm pretty well calloused to CoD now. It's just one of those annual things like sports games now.
Fallout deserves the hype because Bethesda doesn't spam the quality series. For a franchise that's like 15 years old and being only on its fourth game I imagine excitement has been culminating to where it's at now for good reason.

I aggree when with the whole waiting to make a good sequel deserves more than companies that pump out a new title year after year.
Just Dance 2016…
I agree with Temjin. When it comes to over-hyped, I can't say there actually is one. CoD is CoD. Battlefront hasn't had a new release in a long time and its supposedly connected to the new movie. Fallout 4 is Fallout 4, you can't mess with that juggernaut. NFS has been on a consistent disappointing slope for awhile and you can activate invisibility camo in Syndicate. I am personally hyped for NFS and Fallout 4. I don't want anything else this year.
As for Halo 5, its getting some mixed reactions from its fanbase. Its definitely not the Halo people love and grew up with, but at the same time its so simplified new people can jump in and not care. Rise of the timed Raider has some hype, but PC/PS4 people are just waiting for the fixed and perfected version of the game so there's that. In general its a good holiday for everyone on every platform.
Well, besides Nintendo.
Does cod still get hype?
Its probably fallout 4 though fans have huge expectations for it.
Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom pain is the most over hyped game. Its borning as hell i cant even make it past the prologe.
And you bought it used, right? Resell it before it loses more value.
No one is going to beg you to keep playing.
You can't say it's overhyped when you haven't played it, playing the prologue isn't enough. I also didn't really enjoy the prologue but I stuck with it and now I can honestly say it's one of the greatest games I've ever played.
You've only played the prologue. While I do think mgs5 suffers from a few problems its still a good game.
Yeah… you seem to be pretty isolated here, dude. Honestly, almost sounds to me that you're intentionally trolling to have such a stupid opinion – especially admitting to having not gotten into the game.
Battlefront. At least they ran a beta. I'm sure after playing the beta a lot of people were happy that's $60 saved. Fallout deserves the hype. Bethesda took care of the base game and brought in Id and Machine games to tune up the shooting. Believe the hype.
