Elden Ring is More Dark Souls than Sekiro

Elden Ring is going to be more akin to Dark Souls than it will be to Sekiro. In an interview with IGN on Friday, the game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki explained how it won’t be like Sekiro.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was an offbeat game by FromSoftware. The developer, while known for its particular brand of difficulty, changed its general formula with a straightforward story told through cinematic and a change of combat. This was vastly different than their previous games. But, it appears their collab with Song of Ice and Fire author, George R.R. Martin is going to go back to that Dark Souls style.

A different factor between Sekiro and Elden Ring also lies in its protagonist. The player is allowed to fully customize the character, similar to other FromSoftware games. The story isn’t about the player’s journey, though, rather Miyazaki took the approach of the world setting.

Elden Ring doesn’t have a release date yet. It will be launched on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
