Sorry for being a little tardy to the party this weekend but I just came from a party; a wedding reception, to be more specific, but I'll blab about that towards the end.
I would LOVES me some inFamous 2!
I will freely admit when I've made a bad prediction. I was dead flat wrong in my assumption that inFamous wouldn't be something I would be interested in; that game rocked hardcore and I loved every second of it. For whatever reason, I'm drawn to some of these open-world sandbox games that don't go too far over the top, like Oblivion . Stuff like inFamous and GTA still feels…I dunno, "explorable," I guess. It's big, yes, but you don't feel overwhelmed and with Cole's supreme abilities (that continued to get better and better throughout the adventure), you always have fun, even when you're not doing anything but running around in circles. Well, I always had fun, at any rate. And if it's true that Sucker Punch is already working on a sequel , I am so on that bandwagon. Day 1 purchase for me. I know some will say Prototype was better – I guess Radical might be planning a sequel to that one – and while I haven't played it yet, I don't really buy it. I accept Arnold's analysis and it just sounds to me as if inFamous is clearly superior.
I'm not one of those people who pass judgment without playing it, though, and I probably would play it if the upcoming months weren't so insane. September and October for reviews…? Holy SH**.
I guess I'm still on the fence about next-gen remakes
I can normally take a stand on any given issue, one way or the other, but I'm constantly going back and forth on this one. When I first heard about the idea of a remake for Final Fantasy VII , I was kinda like, "meh, don't need it. The game is classic as is." But over time – and especially after watching "Advent Children" – I began to reconsider this position and now, I'm totally for it. And I'm also for the God of War Collection that's coming to the PS3, but then I heard that publishers might want to give other PS2 classic titles a next-gen makeover …and here I am, back on the fence again. Maybe certain titles should just always stay the way they are. Perhaps it makes little sense to say that a prettier and flashier Final Fantasy X would somehow be "worse" than the original (provided everything else remained the same), but at the same time, I'm questioning myself again. Maybe the only question that really needs to be answered is, "do we need it?"
I have every confidence that games like GoW can only benefit from this upgrade, but there's something about certain old visuals that become attached to the nostalgia nodes in our brain. We identify those admittedly inferior graphics with that experience and hence, we may have difficulty receiving the same impact from a remake. It's like the nostalgia is gone. …or is it? Heck, I don't know. I just keep going back and forth. LOL
Personal gaming update
A Demon's Souls review is coming this week
. Bear in mind that the game doesn't even release until October 6, so this is a big deal ; it'll be one of the first reviews of the North American release you'll ever see. And Arnold may deliver a Need for Speed: Shift review very early as well. September and October will be insane, but we're on top of things for ya. Don't you worry about nothin'. 😉 Demon's Souls is great but it's challenging enough to make you crawl into a corner and sob yourself to sleep. That's pretty much all I'll say about it for now, and you should expect a Mini Ninjas review to pop up this week, too, and I already have NHL 10 , and NHL 2K10 should also be coming soon (just have to honor the embargo dates). There isn't an embargo date for Demon's Souls , by the way; that's why we can get this to you so soon.
So yeah, just got back from a wedding. I only went to the reception (took the place of my father, who went to the ceremony). The reception started at 7 p.m. and we didn't leave until a little before midnight, and we were like the first to leave. I'm no wedding expert but it was beautiful (the bride in this case has parents who are extremely wealthy) and as time went on, they proved they know how to motherfu***** party. I'm not a big one for such things, but hey, it was an excuse to use my new expensive suit. Plus, free food, good company…fine by me. I just wish my poor mother would get over the idea of me getting married, 'cuz that may never happen. Heh.
I rented and beat the original God of War in one night (an epic night with my older bro), so I don't have the physical copy for replaying. I'm excited to have the chance to own the entire series! And with upgraded graphics!
….and Trophies!
Wow, I'm getting myself riled up about it just by writing about it.
Can't wait for the Demon's Soul review =D
And yes, free food is always awsome, lol
Seems like you had a good week :), and as they say, only time will tell.
Hope it wasn't :S, he along with Arnold are the soul of this site 🙂
I've never given anyone a thumbs down. 🙂
Mini Ninjas was so fun! The demo at least! I will be getting the game no doubt!
A good platformer is a good platformer, and we need more of them. Was pleasantly surprised at how much there is to do in that game
Demon's Soul, so looking forward to that madness!
October's gonna be insane with Uncharted, Ratchet, Demon's, etc. :O
EDIT:
Gonna use my charms as a gamer this new school semester lol. We'll see, I'll throw a few M. Bison lines in there lol

I'm seriously thinking of getting Mini Ninjas this week through the B1G1-50%off deal at BB. That demo was fun for us.
Really? I'm going to download it then.
i would love to see a update on old games, they wont change any of the gameplay just update the graphics add trophies and release.
i would love to play the first 4 crash games, all the ratchet and clank games, kill switch, all the DMC games, resi 1-4, red faction 1 and 2.
they could make june to august the remake month, since new games rarely come out during those months so people end up playing old games as it is. me myself spent june playing infamous, july to early september was fallout 3 and wolfenstien.
that would be the perfect time to release these types of games, at 50 bucks a pop i would be buying them day 1.
Free Food – Can't Complain
Free Drinks – Great
Free Girls – LEGENDARY
It should be:
Free drinks = Can't complain
Free girls = Again, can't complain
Free food = LEGENDARY.
Seriously, It's all about the buffet. And the cake.
I believe I was being set up at this wedding, but I could be wrong.
Either way, nothing happened.
I dont agree with re-releasing PS2 games on Blu-ray discs. Sony should just make the PS3 backwards compaitible. God of War is fine for a won off. but to have a flood of these would just be irritating.
I have a 60GB PS3 so i can still play most of my PS2 games. So obviously i dont need re-releases, even if they are classed as "HD" my PS2 games look phenominal upscaled.
Oh my god…was this Sony's ingenious plan all along? Were they planning to pretty much release all PS2 games on bluray so it could be compatible with PS3 and possibly win the Bluray vs DVD war?!!? Find out next…in…….THE FUTURE.

I am with PS2 Remakes… Although I don't think that they should be "flooding" the market. Prince Of Persia, Metal Gear Solid and Ico series are the most needed.
I need Shadow Of the Colossus and ICO to be on PS3 in HD because their graphics just soothed you in a strange way(never played ICO though).
A little off topic, no wait, completely off topic but is it true that Xbox are getting MW2 maps that ps3 isn't 'cause if so that is darn right unacceptable. :@
No goddammit! That's not the truth!
Some douche started that chain mail cause he had no frickin clue what he was talking about!
As it was announced at M$' E3 conference, xbox is just getting the first two map packs "first". We WILL get those map packs, but I haven't heard how long we will have to wait.

Oh well that's nice to know.
I dont't see why MS are bothering to open their pocket just so their xbots cvan get te map packs earlier, doesn't change anything in the long run.
@ Titch
It is probable. After GTA IV expansions, anything is possible…

I know. GTA have really annoyed me with these exclusives for xbox, the ballad of gay tony seems really good.
I sort of want remakes of key games, maybe they could remake ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Since it is a cult-classic of a game who many have probably heard of but not played.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this release just around The Last Guardian release?
On a technical level, these God of Wars remastered games, do you think these GoW titles was easy to input in the God of War 3 engine so it was easy to make it run on PS3?
The Santa Monica team is industry leaders in game development and probably gave an helping hand to Bluepoint Games who did most of the work of translating it over to PS3 architecture.
if there ever is a FFX remake, then save it for PS4 or later.
by that time graphics will be so f****ng stellar that it would look almost completely different! (in a good way)
Expect Lulu fans to go insane.
Yuna fans too
Don't forget that behind of hers 😀
PS: If they do X they gotta do X-2 <3
Yuna's behind ftw! ^__^
By the times PS4 is here… They will be remaking PS3 games… I'd like to see MGS4 on PS4… Yummmy….
Personally I think next gen remakes are a devs dream imagine an artist growing up with crayola crayons and construction paper as a medium, then someone comes to him and gives him photoshop (^_^) many devs creative visions were held back by the tech they had for the ps2 and if they want the oppurtunity to remake them now I say go for it if it makes them happy, and if its no good it won't get made that's the long and short of it I think. While devs should have the oppurtunity im sure most are aware that not just any game will make it as a remake.
it might be their dream, but there are 2 sides. if nostalgia wins over, keep it how it was. if they release it exactly the same as the first, people would love it just for the nostalgia. thats what makes old classic, classic.
if nostalgia isn't a main factor, upgrade the thing, by all means
i'm seriously with you on the graphics-nostalgia thing. pokemon emerald, whenever i remember it… i love it. and i love the whole 2D pixely feeling and everything. i wouldn't want another version of that. i'd have the old version, same gameboy, and hours of fun.
I may buy the God Of War Games but with so much good stuff coming out this may not happen. I already have them on the PS2 anyway and my PS3 is backwards compatible (60GB) so there may not be a need for this just because the graphics and trophies have been updated.
I totally agree with therabbitkinge there. If a dev wants to remake a game with the thought that his original was held back due to technology restraints, so be it. I am in favor of remakes… And you know, it could be a set. Ico and Colossus on dual layer, plus they could add new colossi, the ones which were left out previously. MGS Series on a dual layer. PoP on dual layer. All with heavy extra content. Imagine playing MGS1 on new engines… Beautiful, wouldn't it be?
e.g., The Chronicles Of Riddick
Parasite Eve 1 &2 remake on the ps3 or even on blue ray would be a dream come true. I still remember those fantastic cutscenes. Chrono trigger, Lunar1&2,Grandia1,2,3 and Xenogears.

Soo gonna' be the next RPG to play on it's release. Online-wise: Socom, HOME Chess and Phat Princess have been keeping me going for the time being. Very nice. Will begin to play Folklore after I decide to complete what I assume is the last mission in Valkyria Chronicles. Awesome games.
Folklore will not disappoint.
Folklore ftw.
Is PSXE off duty for Labor day?
Hellz no. We're effing BUSY.
effing….teehehe!
Yusss
Can't wait for Need for Speed: Shift review!
And here.. we.. go
