Inside Ty’s Mind – Destiny Sucks

Welcome to my attempt at poorly written journalism. The goal with this segment is to provide an insight into my mind, and for me to just express my thoughts and opinions in a (somewhat?) intelligent way. Odds are my opinions are going to differ from your own, so do keep that in mind before you head on down to the comment section to yell at me for having a different opinion than your own.

Destiny 2
I was super hyped up for the original Destiny, being a fan of Bungie and the Halo games. And then I bought it at launch, played it, and got bored in a week after realizing that the game lacked a storyline, and that the rest of the story was locked away behind expensive expansion packs. That ultimately ended up putting me off of the series, and now that Destiny 2 is right around the corner, I feel like I am one of the only people in the world that quite frankly couldn’t care less about it. I mean, I can’t really be the only person, right? There must be more people that dislike Destiny and Destiny 2. If there is though, I can’t for the life of me find them.

Xbox One X
I’m still not entirely sold on all of these mid-cycle generation upgrades. I mean, I get why they’re doing it, but I personally just don’t care. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are worthless upgrades to an already great system. As a person that preordered the PS4, there is literally nothing at all to entice me into buying the upgraded PS4 Pro. I can still play all of my games on my older hardware, so why bother getting something new? It didn’t make sense to me then, and it doesn’t make sense to me now with the One X. Making your system smaller? That makes sense. Making it more powerful when it’s still the same overall system? That baffles me.

Virtual Reality
Look, I get it. People are seemingly bending over backwards for this VR stuff. But you know what? I don’t care. I truly honestly don’t. The PlayStation VR is a waste of money. It lacks the games, requires additional wires, and is just a nuisance to use. Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. All fantastic games, none compatible with VR. So why bother? Why buy into a trend that is seemingly already dead? Quality AAA games aren’t being made with VR in mind, they’re being made with a controller in mind. A typical, every day, PS4 controller. I mean, I want to support VR. I grew up near a big arcade that had a super cool Virtual Reality “room” where you shoot at bad guys using a light gun. That stuff was cool. It was revolutionary. That’s the experience I want. But until that experience arrives, I’m just holding off on this whole VR craze. No point in wasting my money.

Super NES Classic
Gah, I’m so tired of hearing all of the complaints about Nintendo not stocking this thing. I mean, come on people! This is 27 year old technology. If you absolutely must play the SNES again, freaking buy the original model! Buy it on ebay or at a local pawn shop, and then buy the games you want for it. Hell, there are places online where you can even “upgrade” it with HDMI and upscaled HD visuals. I just don’t understand why people are treating this as if it’s the end of the world. “Oh no, I didn’t get the 2017 version of a console that came out 27 years ago! I must now complain on every forum the internet has, and make my voice heard, and my opinion known!” Like, no. Just no.

Well, that’s about it for now. I’ll continue posting similar features like this in the future, so stay tuned for that.
