Sometimes, we have to seek some balance.
Right now, there's one game that absolutely dominates the headlines (even more so than The Last Of Us: Remastered ). That game isn't due out until September, but the current beta test and general hype surrounding it has made it a very hot ticket for all gamers.
That game is, of course, Destiny . And while I have no doubt this production will be stellar, and while I'm aware there's very little else to talk about this summer, we're all getting a little tired of the Destiny topics, aren't we? So, I'm interested in all you gamers out there who couldn't give a flying fig about Bungie's upcoming blockbuster, and are much more intrigued by other impending titles. It's your turn to speak up!
Maybe your most anticipated game of the year is Assassin's Creed: Unity , or perhaps you're a huge Call of Duty fan and Advanced Warfare is the only holiday title for you. Then again, as a hardcore role-playing buff, you just can't wait to get your hands on Dragon Age: Inquisition . Strategy aficionados might be looking forward to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor , while racing fans are anxiously anticipating Driveclub . Or, if you really are a shooter fan, perhaps you're more interested in Evolve or Far Cry 4 .
Seriously, all this Destiny talk is getting a little out of control. Balance, people, balance.
*Quietly and hesitantly raises hand*
THUMBS DOWN!!!!
j/k
Still not 100% sold but preordered the Limited Edition, if anyone wants it Walmart, Target, and Best Buy got a little more in stock and likely won't last long. Ghost is still sold out everywhere and Amazon and Gamestop have been out of both since preorder launch day, Amazon within the first hour…..
PS. That "little more" is it because Activision made a comment about it saying so.
I've spent too much time even thinking about the stupid thing.
I really wanna know if Natural Doctrine is going to be playable, then Dragon's Age.
I was thinking of getting Destiny on a price drop, but then I realized Activision doesn't drop their game prices.
Even if it doesn't live up to hype the game should easily be worth the $60 with the amount of content there will be.
But unless you want the bonus goodies no point in preordering and if you don't preorder there is no diff from buying on day one vs a month later except less people in low level zones.
everything u mention bar COD will be on my radar is some way shape or form. but when i get them all remains to be seen.
happy gaming
I will get the game I'm looking forward to it. Before the beta I didn't give a crap about it, but I played a bit and liked it enough to stop playing the beta and wait so the game feels fresh when it comes out.
I think it is getting hyped because activision is good at building that sort of thing, and its bungie. So you have call of duty, halo, and borderlands fans all noticing this game which is why I think its making headlines.
I just can't get enough of Destiny! Keep the news a come'n. I'm sure plenty of game sites are raking in the hits by covering the news people want =)
I think I'm going to main the hunter class. I like the direct damage and stealthy/tactical vibe they have.
(I spent time going over their ability charts to see how they develop)
Also Dat Cape!

I REALLY want the Cosmic Joke from the Speaker.
I will say there's not enough news about how crappy Injustice's graphics are on Vita. I mean dang. I bought it for $4 on PSN today and man it just looks like crap. PS2 fighters literally look better, by a lot.
seriously, I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it looked so terrible

on consoles it was neat watching the level stage load where the stage photograph seamlessly transitions into the actual game play. Yah, it does that here on Vita too. But this time it goes from a nice looking stage to a crappy looking stage right before your eyes. It's like "yah, here. this is what you're not getting because you bought this crap port on Vita….. sucka!"

I've played a few more stages. Some look better than others but the in-fight models are really REALLY lacking in detail at times.
Its a great game. Its going to have tons of content and its going to be a non-stop fun game. It has coop and competitive elements all while keeping it real with semi open world maps and tons of exploration. Its a huge and badarse game.
But…I'm not interested in it.
Broodborne
Raised hand.
I can't think in another game that is not TLOU
I didn't care for it until I downloaded it. Now I see that it's a fantastic mix of futuristic RPG + FPS + MMO.
yep. gotta give it a try to really know. I honestly didn't have much interest in it at first, like from early previews. Then I tried the alpha just to confirm that I probably wasn't going to play it much, and BOOYA, it got me. Got me good.
Yeah, I was the same – didn't really care about it and the hype made me even more skeptical, until I played that Beta. Now I'm a believer.
Having said that, there are two things that bother me though:
1) not being able to reload while running is REALLY annoying and 2) there seems to be an over-reliance on the "hold button down" mechanic in menus and gameplay. That's a little irritating as well.
But mostly the run and reload thing. You mean to tell me that a Guardian of the Traveler and defender of our galaxy can't run and reload at the same time?! The galaxy is doomed…
wait. what class you playing? I'm a hunter and I'm pretty dang sure I can reload while running.
Nope. Class independent. Pay close attention next time – so basically, run then start reloading, your character will slow down. Or reload then start running, the character will stop reloading mid reload (and thus not reloaded) and then automatically start reloading again when you stop running.
You can JUMP and reload, but no running. Strange.

i see sir saiyan.
can't be worse than Resistence 2's atrocious run cancel by simply stepping onto a road curb…
EDIT(initially I thought it was a reload cancel. then i remember it was a run cancel… so yah, this resistence reference is pretty much pointless. but still…. sprinting up onto a 6 inch road curb shouldn't cancel your run… like ever ever)
Last edited by Temjin001 on 7/26/2014 12:01:13 PM
crap. totally wrong about the resistence run cancel thing. about to test for run reload cancel. i'm at the retarded part in the chicago level where you have like zero ammo and you gotta take down hellfire turrets.
eh, not enough time to check right now. yah, pretty sure I was fighting like 3 of those big ogre things at once from the previous level where I was trying to gain distance by running while reloading my heavy gernade launcher gun.. and every flipping time I stepped on a curb while reloading it, it would reload cancel on me. maybe it's just for heavy guns.
…because yah, i could so totally reload a heavy gun while running and stepping on a curb myself =p

no interest
no money
that said if it turns out to be a true elite title i may splash out!
Couldn't care less about Destiny.
At all.
To the point that I will grab the white PS4 with Destiny bundled, open the box in store and trade in Destiny without even leaving!
Personally, it's all about Shadow of Mordor
I've been avoiding most of the news about it. It just doesn't interest me in the slightest. But then, I also haven't really been following the latest and greatest in gaming of late, anyway. :/
Still looking forward to a few games, though. More interested in the backlog at the moment. 🙂
I wasn't interested at the E3 reveal and I still can't work up any enthusiasm.
Hot Garbage
I'm not surprised by the hype one bit. Destiny is truly a "Perfect Storm" type game with its mix of developer, publisher, FPS/RPG, all coming together during this severe drought of anything next gen.
TLOU is fine but only a console-exclusive remaster. Not much to say that wasn't said already.
Plenty of time after Destiny comes out to talk about the other games.
This is not to say I want all the articles flooding everything but I definitely understand it. The demand is there and will be until it releases– though I expect they die down a little after the beta wraps up this weekend.
*rasises both hands high* after playing the alpha build i decided that destiny is overhyped just like The Last Of US remastered is.
that was an incredibly unpopular thing to say here 😉
im not sick of the game. i still like hearing new things about it. i like hearing about it all over bc it shows hope that this game will dominate the market and kill off any contenders. (yes im looking at you cod)
I haven't given it a shot yet and most likely won't. I'm not a big fan of MMO/FPS. What it does include in its RPG-like package is outweighed by the thought of it being this smorgasbord of genres.
I don't, however, have anything to say about it that's specifically an ailment of the game itself. I'm sure it'll turn out to be quite a polished product and a very likely GOTY winner I this thin herd of next gen games.
I'm psyched to finally experience TLoU. Didn't have the time to get it for the ps3. Beyond that; project cars, drive club, and GTAV (haven't played it, either).
As your other editorial went on about the delays; I'm not holding my breath for project cars. I foresee delays, delays, delays. That's fine. Unless it's every next generation game that I so badly intended to get my hands on.
… Oh, AND PS4 updates beyond stability. 🙂

set aside your skepticism and give it a couple hours in beta. make your choice from there. it's too easy to write it off from making assumptions about what it seems like from the sidelines.
it seems to me most who doubted, like myself, and then tried it, found they liked it a lot more than they expected.
I'll probably try the single player campaign.. At some point. Still forcing Watchdogs down my throat in hopes of at least completing the missions before I dump it. I'm not entirely sure how much it'll (Destiny) exclude from the variety of things you can do. Really, I'm just not big on anything remotely MMO. factor in my inability to adapt to shooters with an analog (did the keyboard mouse routine for over a decade) and there's a pretty good chance that I'll never give the multi-player co-op online spiel a shot.
good. and today is you're lucky day. after 2PM today MORE story missions unlock. On the moon this time. THE MOON!
Still on the edge. If it's all about the online social hand holding experience then no. If the single player is large and full of land to get lost in then yes.
the Beta has been fun, but I'm still going to have to wait out for the reviews.
Well without any form of map and the only form of radar being a life-signs detector we may end up getting very lost in some areas, hopefully.
I downloaded the demo. unfortunately I really dislike these FPS games. not sure whats the point of us to create a character if you can only see the gun. and I really wanted to preorder the white ps4 but I can't find a stand alone version.
did you play past 10 min?
after the first mission you go to The Tower. In there it's from the 3rd person.
….the reasons in here as to why NOT to like this game have been lame

Now that there's a rumor for a next gen dark souls 2, I'm too busy making myself wait on the dlc. It doth hurt so. I'm playing the beta now that it's open, but I'm also playing wolfenstein and really enjoying it.
I wanted to like Destiny but I really didn't think it would be my style of game. Then I played the alpha. I've finished up just about all there is in the beta (including the moon) and will pick it up on day one.
Holy CRAP! OK did anyone play the Moon mission today and ignore the mission and just explore? Me and a friend went down into the Hive "City" and that place is FREAKING MASSIVE a single part of one zone is bigger than all of the Russian zone it just kept going down and down and whenever we thought we had found the end we would find another area and many of those areas would end at a giant locked door that you could tell would later be opened, some we knew would be opened because our radars showed enemies on the other side.
I think I may be 100% sold now.

very nice. it'll be cool to see how much they hide
The last of us and Destiny. Should hold me tell The order and uncharted
After the delay of Inquisition it actually looks like this game will be the system seller for me.
All my friends are raging about this game.
I bet the Xbox fanboys are furious about not having Bungies work as exclusives anymore.

Hand.
Don't have the time to play it amidst all my fighting game practice in between my main RPGs.
i missed the moon missions sadly…
