This is question I've been asking myself ever since I saw the official trailer and read up on the pertinent details .
I still have to wait to see some gameplay, of course, but for the time being, I'm wondering if Advanced Warfare will be the first Call of Duty I've actually wanted to play since Modern Warfare 2 .
There are a few pluses: Firstly, I really like the character of Jonathan Irons, played by Kevin Spacey. The guy is an amazing actor, anyway, and this role reminds me of his role in "House of Cards." I'd like to think that he wouldn't be part of a project that has a garbage script, and the trailer does shed some light on a potentially gripping narrative. As I don't really care about multiplayer, it will be all about the campaign for me. If that seems worthwhile, I might just have to try it.
Secondly, the idea of super abilities delivered via special exoskeleton suit is interesting. I keep thinking of the nanosuit in the Crysis games, which was totally bad-ass. I'm not the biggest fan of crazy unrealistic abilities in what's supposed to be a gritty, futuristic shooter, but maybe it'll fit. Maybe the skills won't seem unrealistic at all, provided the tech is relatively believable. Thirdly and lastly, the inclusion of some very slick vehicles might add some dynamic action to the standard FPS gameplay. Again, I'd have to see these vehicles in action but at least they seem to exist.
I know everyone else is wondering about the multiplayer, because that's why 99.9 percent of all CoD fans play the games. I couldn't possibly care less, and I'm hoping that narrative is enough to convince me…
Chances are the game is full of recycled assets from past games a la Arkham Origins. Which even though It felt like I was playing a shuffled Arkham City, it still had a good story, for me at least.
Most people either like Fps games or hate them – there doesnt seem to be much middle ground – and COD is the daddy of them all.
I haven't wondered for a second if ill like new Final Fantasy – because thats one genre that holds zero appeal to me.
Each to their own I guess.
I disagree. There are some shooters I hate, and some I like. Same with the CoD series. Some I liked, some I don't.
Actually, I find there's at least one title in every genre I have enjoyed.
ahh – but this is why I was careful to add the caveat "Most people"
Yeah, but that caveat is what I disagree with. I think "most" people will like (or love, who cares how strong you state the emotion of it) some FPS games and dislike others….

Probably going to skip out on this one as well. Just very exhausted of this franchise, but I know it's their money maker so it's here to stay I suppose.
I wish I was as enthusiastic as you Ben. This game does look like it could be new and exciting, however I don't believe the single player campaign will be more than 3-4 hours at best.
I just find it a fascinating turn of events that Call of Duty has actually turned into a sci fi shooter. I've had this urge to play Resistance 2 or 3…
I played through 1 and 2 a little while ago. They're great!
yeah idk they say this is new and exciting but it's just bunch of things that are copyand paste from other games and movies, crysis, elysium and titan fall just to name three i'd like to see cod come with something new thats origonal like their own new now new from smewhere else now that wud be intersting and kevin spacey isn't enough to get me to play this and even now after see my friend plya titanfall i kinda want to play it but i don't want to reward EA with my money cos they don't deserve it after BF4
i just thought i'd like to add that lil note on the side.
it's gunna take alot more than that to get me to buy another COD after that disapontment that was BOII and the trash that was MW3 and Ghosts
happy gaming =)
It was a good trailer, but I'm sure the single-player campaign will still be 3 hours long and as linear and shallow as they come. Shoot those guys, ride this vehicle, use that stationary gun, The End.
but but but, its so hard on veteran
Good to hear Ben 🙂 I am glad we can both agree that so far the game does show promise. At least in the SP.
It could be the shakeup COD needs
How could the game be full of recycled assets sledgehammer only worked on 1 cod b4 mw3 n they weren't in charge infinity ward was they just helped
the least amount of money they spend to "polish" a game, the more goes into their pockets.
people shouldnt keep saying cod (im always hearing cod more than any other game) is the only copy paste game because almost ALL OF THOSE fps are copy and paste from their previous years and from each other.
Not just FPS.
Assassins Creed is another game which shares very similar features.
Tom Clancy handled "advanced warfare" first.
Just sayin'.
@shaytoon ya but sledgehammer doesn't own any rights to previous cods so except maybe mw3 which the worked on how the gonna use old stuff
