Two very big games are launching this month: inFamous: Second Son for the PlayStation 4 and Titanfall for the Xbox One.
Both are exclusive to their respective platforms, both have been hyped through the roof, and both are coming in with a ton of pressure to perform.
Well, okay. I'm definitely gonna play the new inFamous because it's one of my favorite franchises of all time, and I might even be interested in Titanfall , if it didn't just look like a fancy shooter. It has a ton of potential, though, and I admit it should be a fantastic game.
However, despite all this, there's one title that tops my March priority list. It's not "new" in the literal sense. It'll likely receive disparaging remarks from anyone under the age of 20. But I don't care; what I care most about is the upcoming Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster , which offers glorious high-def overhauls of two of the best games of all time. Yeah, you heard me. While many will agree that FFX qualifies, I think few would back FFX-2, but I maintain that it featured quite possibly the finest example of an ATB-driven turn-based mechanic.
The bottom line is that to get both these games in the same package, completely redone in beautiful new high-definition, is a godsend for all RPG aficionados. Yes, I'm aware that the industry has advanced a great deal since these games released. But I also believe RPGs (especially JRPGs) haven't done much better since. It's sort of infuriating but hey, at least I'll get these remasters. I probably won't see a FFVII remake any time soon, so I gotta take what I can get. Believe it or not, inFamous – and everything else – can wait.
Yeah, I'm crazy. I know.
Holy crapoly that is coming up soon. And I'm already neck-deep in JRPGs! But they will probably have to take a back seat when this classic set drops. I'm riiiiich!
I hope the sales smashes the 12 copies that Lightning Returns sold and that SE realizes what that actually means. And also I hope young gamers give its greatness a chance. We need to add their voices to our own collective cries for fan base justice.
I know what you mean. I'm probably nowhere near done with Symphonia, still have to finish my Milla playthrough in Xillia, and have barely started KH 1.5. Sometimes I almost wish the myth about gamers having no life was true, then I could play day and night without problem.
Also, depending on how young we're talking, FFX may basically have been their FFVII (or VI, or IV, or whichever each generation's old favorite was).
I enjoyed FF X. FF X-2…. not so much.
I loved 'em both!
X-2 was epic too for legit reasons!
Likewise, X-2 is such a let down, the whole story feels like a diversion until the ending – Which you cannot get unless you complete the game 100%… try doing that without a guide.
Vivi gamer, it's difficult to get 100% in one playthrough, but in 2 it's easy without one if you scrutinize each area. Technically speaking, you can reach just over 110% with 2 playthroughs.
Also, it's really odd that you can overlook the ATB excellence that game achieved.

It was ruined by the Dressphere system. Changing broke the pace of the battle system and the whole class system in X-2 just never worked for me. But that is not where I am so critical, its more on the mission structure of the game, the floundering story and the violation of Yuna as a character that bother me.
In no way did the Dress Spheres break the flow of combat. That's just ridiculous to say. It offered a TON more depth and freedom in combat, too.
While I think the masking of her emotion was done too heavily, she -definitely- was true to character. Not sure where you get that.
As for disrupting the pace of battle, change the settings so you never watch the cinematic… You can select Full, partial, or none.
Definitely excited for these two games. It's going to be a terrific birthday month for me, and all the rest that are anticipating this remaster. We've waited so long for these, what's another couple weeks? 🙂
Yes! Can't wait any longer, I think I can only hold out for like 10 more days…
I'd be more excited for infamous than ffx, but since it seems I might not have a ps4 by then, I very well may end up playing ffx remaster first.
How grindy is FFX? Is there an easy setting and can the story be finished in a reasonable time by someone who doesn't have to grind and use a guide? I stopped Person 4 Golden for the same reason at the 30 hour mark when the bosses got too hard.
Would buy it for the Vita if it has a bit of give and take in it.
Yes, Final Fantasy X is by far the most accessible Final Fantasy. The sphere grid looks complex at first but once you realise it is just a trail of upgrades it becomes much easier to manage. You can complete the main story in a good 40 hours and then if you dare face the Dark Aeons that is where the grinding comes into play. Highly recommend it, it's at a dirt cheap price, redone in HD and you get X-2 as a bonus.
Not grindy at all imo. You can pretty much play it straight through. That's why some people say it as "linear". It wasn't since there was a big world to explore, but you could just run from place to place fighting what they throw at you without taking on extra battles.
I'm playing tales of xillia right now. Definitely one of the best rpgs I've played in a long time. Nino Kuni is next along with dark souls 2, the one game I'm going to buy on day one. I liked ff x and x-2, but ff xii was my jem from square.
It's pre-ordered, just waiting for delivery day!
… better get all the uni work done before then (****!)
imfamous i'm a bit FPSed out atm online anyways i was just thinking about metro last light on the ps3 so not completely just online multi shooter anyways no titan fall atm
happy gaming =)
And don't forget that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is gonna be released also this March.. I wanna get this two games for my ps3, this FFX HD and the MGS Ground Zeroes.
Oh yes, Final Fantasy X is certainly my priority this month. What is even more insane is that in the UK Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is released on the same day! Both of my favourite series in one day… I couldnt never ask for more 🙂 Plan of action is to get MGS5:GZ out of the way before I plunge into Final Fantasy X. This time the US will get the Dark Aeons, think you completed FFX before – Think again! The Dark Aeons add so much challenge to FFX, I cannot imagine the game without them. As for FFX-2, I will play it once more… with my nose between the guide to get the 100% ending, but I dont think I'll enjoy it much.
Funny thing is after March, the games industry just collapses, there really is nothing beyond this month, Watch Dogs in May I guess but that is all I can think off, still I will have FFX to keep me busy, so I need not worry.
happy that the gaming season dies off kinda early this year, i havent gotten my PS4 yet and im gonna need the summer to catch up with all the new games
You only really need a guide if you expect to get 100% in one playthrough. You don't need it if you play it twice.
How come, do you get the best ending if you complete it twice by default?
No, you get it if you get at least 100%. With 2 playthroughs, it's easy, since simply changing whether you go with the youth league or new yevon from one playthrough to the next opens up another 10%+.
In two playthroughs, if you used the guide, you could finish with 111% or 112% or something. So there's lots of room for error. All you need is at least 100%.
In the second or third chapter (whenever you select either youth league or new yevon), you restrict yourself to story pertaining to just one of them. Only by playing twice can you complete story unique to both of them. That's where the extra percentages come from.

Metal Gear Solid V tops my List of games for March
Metal Gear V: The Prologue I'm gonna pass, Infamous?.. I still don't buy a PS4, TitanLOL after check the beta isn't even better than CoD, Darksouls 2 it's the game for me this month.
If you don't own a PS4 then there's really no reason you should be mentioning whether you'd pass on those or not. You simply can't get them anyway. I'm pretty much buying all of the games mentioned except for Dark Soul's 2. Still need to play the first one.
Of those games only Infamous it's for PS4 and I said I couldn't lol, you are clearly still mad at me brick xD
I'm not mad at you. I'm just pointing out that you talk as if you own a PS4 when you clearly don't. I guess Brick is some slang term you use where ever you are from? Not sure I'm familiar with it.
*Ah ok, went and looked that up, man the meaning pretty much suits you as well.

I'm actually glad you are not mad at me Brick85.
''I'm just pointing out that you talk as if you own a PS4 when you clearly don't.''
But I don't act like that, of those games I did mention, only one I don't have access (Infamous) I admitted that.
Yo Oxvial, let's quit with the name calling alright? This will literally make your comments invalid and honestly isn't going to solve anything. Surely you have enough common sense to know that. No hard feelings my friend, my mistake.
''let's quit with the name calling alright?'' Well, okay Dismael. 🙂
These are releasing on the PS3 though right? Not the PS4?
FFX/X-2 PS3, MGSV PS3/PS4, Infamous SS PS4 and Titanfall XBone/360/PC.
Having a PC that can run Titanfall it's a no brainer for me. Having purchased a PS4 on release day anything that comes out on PS4 is going to get purchased on PS4. Why buy it if not for playing the games at the best.

Yeah I'm the same anything releasing on PS4 also is definitely being purchased for it.
Already supported and preordered. 🙂
On a side note I FINALLY got to play and finish Okami. Wanted it so long ago!
Crap, I bought it and Forgot to play it. Another one to knock off the list. Nier a well
