Square-Enix Announces FFT Remake For U.S./Europe

Okay, Tactics fans, you can breathe a giant sigh of relief now. You knew the PSP remake of the classic PS1 strat/RPG would be available in Japan, and we hoped it would make it to other regions at some point. Unfortunately, all we had were hopes and dreams…until now: Square-Enix has officially announced they'll be bringing Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War to North America and Europe.

According to the press release, the game will have a simultaneous launch in the U.S. and Europe, and as we all know by now, the game features all new CG sequences, new Jobs, 16:9 widescreen support, and that very sweet head-to-head multiplayer option. We still don't have a release date as of yet, but that's not what's important; what's important is that we now know for sure that fans won't be forced to import this awesome title. Square-Enix further introduces the "Ivalice Alliance," which has already delivered the original FFT, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA), and Final Fantasy XII . So what's next for the Alliance? Dare we hope for a true Tactics sequel…?

At the same time, Square-Enix also announced they'd be releasing three other games in North America: the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker for the Nintendo DS, and Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for the Wii.
