New Killzone: Liberation Details

In a story last week we brought you the first details on Killzone for the
PSP. We now know a little more about the game as Sony has officially announced
some details and a vague release date of Q42006.

Killzone: Liberation is being developed by Guerrilla (now owned by SCEE) and
is being designed specially for the PSP. One of the biggest changes is that the
game will now take place from a third-person perspective, rather than the
first-person point of view of the original.

The story follows the conclusion of events in the first Killzone. Here's a
little bit of the back story, straight from SCEE's press release:

The battle against the Helghast still raging on. In Southern Vekta, the
rules of war have been cast aside with the Helghast General, Metrac, employing
brutal measures in order to seize the initiative. Returning as Templar, your
mission is to undertake a covert operation to save hostages captured by Metrac,
while ISA troops continue the fight for liberty.

Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla Managing Director, commented "We were keen to ensure
Killzone: Liberation was totally unique and offered PSP owners a different
Killzone experience. So, Killzone: Liberation has been developed from scratch;
creating what we think is an intense portable gaming experience. Although
Killzone: Liberation is totally new it stays true to what made the first
Killzone such a great success – the characters, weapons, style and a
continuation of the same great plot."

No screenshots have been released yet, but we'll bring them to you as soon as
Sony makes them available.
