Rumor: Ninja Gaiden In The Works For PlayStation Vita

We can't wait to try Ninja Gaiden III . It'll be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.

But what if we could take our slashing fun on the go? What if Ryu and his trusty sword landed on the most advanced portable gaming device available? Well, it might be possible: according to TheGamersHub , Tecmo Koei might be cranking on a Ninja Gaiden installment for the PlayStation Vita. This information came thanks to an "anonymous e-mail," which isn't exactly a confirmation and in fact, it holds very little validity on its own. We get lots of e-mails…if they come from anyone not directly involved with the industry, they're usually bogus. But then again, if it's a proven inside source, that's something else… We won't comment further without any concrete proof.

But we do know the Vita would benefit from a slick action title from this award-winning franchise. There's no doubt it'll be a hotly anticipated handheld title, if this rumor is proven true…

While I hope this is true, just 'cause ninja should be on every gaming platform. I have a hard time getting too excited because the changes I read about for NG3 makes me angry.

Some angry reasons:
– Ryu ALWAYS was presented as ultimate ninja-awesome'ness-running from nothing and ready to fight anything, even if it would mean death. The NG3 demo has Ryu "running" from a mechanical spider boss because he can't handle it yet. Sorry, Ryu was never seen like that before. He faced Doku to his death in the first game without flinching. Drew his bow and arrow against a military assault chopper. Carved a rock from the ground to better position himself to fight off a demon fiend who was 20x his size. Turned down Rachel's alluring advance, because he's too cool to get hung up with women.

-Apparently all of Ryu's many weapons have been reduced to just one: his sword.

-Essence looks to have been removed. Essence presented a major tactical setup in prior NG games. Engage conflict. Shoot off limb. Jump near, execute obliteration. Quick slash, to airborne enemy launch on nearby enemy while prior obliterated corpse is releasing it's essence. Cancel mid-airborne combo, descend from air. Tap triangle just before landing to initiate instant essence absorb from obliterated enemy to complete Ultimate Technique setup.

All of this was just one single critical strat of NG's play, but looks to be totally gutted and dumbed down to a mash fest, build arm power. unleash..

lame.

Running from a giant mechanical spider? Are you sure it's Ryu and not Squall?

Sorry Temjin, but I have to agree with LiamDaniels NG games have never had very good storylines, I mean they weren't bad but they weren't good either, kinda like the OLD DMC games they never had good stories they were all just OK, and meh-ish, the only real resaon I played the DMC & NG games was because of the fast-paced gameplay.

As far as Ninja Gaiden 3 is concern there are only 2 things that pissed-me off when I heard them:

1) No secondary weapons, which bogus as hell.
2) Quick Timed Events I'mma kinda getting tired of seeing those in games devlopers are relying on them to much these days especially in the action/adventure genre.

I was super excited when NGIII was 1st announced and for the most part besides those 2 things nothing has really changed about that, however from what I've seen so far NGIII is kinda looking like it plays more like a sequel to that Ninja Blade game that came out for the 360 a couple years back which heavily relyed on QTE's, which was it's ultimate downfall in the end. The game had mass potential though they just couldn't execute.

Meh. I don't care what Vita has until it's actually out.

If this is true, Vita will dominate with the hardcore gaming crowd!! The more high profile titles, the better!!

And yes, I would definitely pick up an NG title on Vita. Hack n slashing on the go, in my bedroom in bed, or when I'm at a boring family get-together would be totally awesome!!

iPhone gaming doesn't cut it anymore. Over Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. NEED BUTTONS AND JOYSTICKS!! Oh, how I miss them!!

or even better cross compatibility support with the ps3 version!
i hope it does come to the vita, we dont get many hack and slash games on handhelds.
thats one thing the iphone is seriously lacking!
so many party, puzzle, and shooters but where are all the hack and slash games?
especially since its a touch screen device, which is ideal for hack and slash games!

Certain games work well on the iPhone and others do not. Icant see a game like NG working well at all on the iPhone.

i think it would.
have the left hand side of the screen as the movement, the rest for the camera, a small button in the right corner for attacks, another for blocks, and to jump just swipe up anywhere on the screen.
either that, or have the player swipe their finger in the direction they want to attack like what infinity blade does.

Well, I tried Hero of Sparta 'god of way rip-off *cough*' I dunno, it worked okay but not nearly as well as sticks and buttons would.
I think racers, RPGs, and something unique like infinity blade works good.

But we CAN wait for NG3, just as we can wait for DMC5. I could wait forever if they made a game at least as good as the others instead of that garbage they showed at E3. We can only hope that it's a proper NG game instead of a NG3 port.

The Vita is going to be awesome… Can't wait to see if third party games are showed off at Gamescom and TGS, because there isn't much outside of Sony developed games that have been shown of for the device, even though quite a few have been announced: Shinobido, Call of Duty, Silent Hill, Bioshock. Then we can only speculate as to what else developers have in the pipeline. Assassin's Creed? GTA? Valkyria Chronicles? New IPs?

Oh… I want this thing.

If this true then I hope it is a standalone title I'm not wasting my money on a port.
