At E3, we learned the PlayStation Vita would probably launch in time for this year's holiday season, but for now, the exact date remains "TBA."
However, as everyone continues to wait for an official date from Sony, we're all scouring the Internet, trying to find more information. And thanks to one eagle-eyed reader, it appears we might have a UK release date for the Vita: if you check retailer ShopTo , you will find the following:
"If you pre-order PS Vita : Wi-Fi Model before 12pm on Wednesday 2nd of November 2011 we will guarantee that you will receive it by the release date of Friday 4th of November 2011, if you do not receive it we will compensate you with £3.00 on your shopto account…"
So, if it launches in the UK on November 4, what can we expect for North America? Maybe it'll be just around that same time… The Vita really wowed plenty of PlayStation followers – and other gamers and journalists – and many are awaiting its release; will you be getting the 3G model for $299? You wanna try Uncharted: Golden Abyss , right?
Thanks BikerSaint!
If this is true, I'm about to go absolutely crazy about it!!
The PS Vita's launch would be amazing, regardless of when it is this year. Both the hardware and software are there, and the price was absolutely nailed. I just hope Sony has anticipated the strong demand for their new portable beast and have enough supply for everyone.
I hope so, because that date is really close to the launch of Uncharted 3, is a week after Battlefield 3, and 4 days away from MW3…
If anyone hasn't caught on yet, early November is jam-packed, and the AAA games released around then might (although indirectly) affect the Vita's sales (unless the pre-orders are high, now and closer to the launch).
Regardless, a December date is better in my opinion.

Well this is just rumour or speculation at this point. I guess if there's anything good coming out of it is that it may as well release this holidays. It's important for Sony to take advantage of that and also Black Friday (in the United States).
It will be mine.
I would also like to add that this is a great time to release. Release early November to get all thous that preorder and D1B'ers out of the way, then restock and get ready for Black Friday.
I hope it turns out to be true. They would have a killer first month.
They should wait until just before xmas and after the November games have settled down a bit.
Awesome!!!
Not another November release… I am already gonna spend money on
Batman Arkham City
Darkness II
Uncharted 3
Assassin's Creed Revalation
Elder Scroll V Skyrim
and now PSV then I'm going to be broke lol
CANNOT WAIT!!!! I want it so badly O_O
How in the world am I going to pay for all the games coming out around that time?! >:[
That's the day before I turn 59, so I'm hoping that maybe someone will wind up wrapping one up to go, for me.
WHAAAAT? Wow really 59? That's a crazy age for a still active gamer.
Nah thats not too old. My father in law is right there too! Never too old to game my friend! More power to you BikerSaint
Wow great to know that BikerSaint. I want to be the same when I grow up to that age. And to be honest, I probably will because I love videogames so much, it's going to be pretty difficult that something weird happens, making me to stop liking them.
It was by no means an insult my friend 😉 It's just hard to imagine like my grandpa who hates video games playing them, he's 68 so I mean there is a time difference but I think you get my meaning. More power to you!
Thanks guys,
I go a ways back to the days of Pong, the Tandy & Texas Instruments computer, and the old Telestar Alpha system, and beyond.
Yeah, I'm slowly inching my way towards becoming a prehistoric gamer & I figure in another 4&1/2 decades, I'll feel as old as petrified wood.
But my Harley, my club, & my gaming keeps my a$$ young. Plus, the 35 gaming consoles & handhelds(so far), along with the 2,107 games(so far) in my never-ending gaming collections are my form of "the fountain of youth".
Now I just need to find a young hot female (red-head preferred, but not set in granite) who loves Harley's, sex, & gaming and I'll be right back to feeling like the widdle kid I was way back in the 1950's, back in all those old penny candy stores, LOL

I've always had more trouble reconciling your membership in a motorcycle club with the gaming hobby than your age. I guess that shows what I know about motorcycle clubs.
p.s. Good luck finding that redhead. My Home avatar is off limits. 😀

I'm excited for the PS Vita, can't wait to get my hands on it and see what it can do.
If this is true, then all I can say is;
Works for me…
😉
A week and a day before my birthday… Sounds like a good present methinks!
Weeks and days before my birthday… September.
doubt it.
would be the worst month to release, too busy with bigger better games.
i tend to believe the creating companies CEO then some unknown shopping site.
lets not forget GAME had splinter cell conviction on there site for ps3 for quite some time!
will be picking it up day 1
What I want to know is if the PS Vita is region blocked for games or not. UK price for Vita is ridiculous in comparison to USA one. I'd rather pay that little extra for shipping costs, even if I have to pay for customs it's still a lot cheaper to get it abroad…
Damn UK government for 20% VAT plus some additional cost that doesn't quite work out whose pocket its going to :S
They already announced it would be region free following the PlayStation tradition of not region locking their consoles.
Except of course SP2 and PS1 which were region locked…though mostly that was based on the differing TV standards.
Of course PSP, PS3 and Vita have no such hang-ups…PSN still has regional servers, but that's more elated to the practicalities of internet latency and locally specific marketing plans by SCEA, SCEE, SCEI and SCEJ than anything else.

Thank you, I must have missed out on the announcement about it being region-free. Never really bothered knowing such things for my console. It's good to know I could get it cheaper now 😀 yay
I just found my (early) birthday present (to myself). It will be mine…oh yes, it will be mine…
Shiva369,
Another Scorpio, huh?
A thumbs-up just for having the best sign in the zodiac!
(Of course, being born on Nov 5th, 1952 myself, I just might be a bit biased though) LOL

Scorpios ARE awesome.
I kinda wish they'd launch it a bit closer to Summer, I know that it probably wouldn't be done, but it seems like there's already a *ton* of stuff launching in November. Ah well, I'm currently trying to decide between buying a PSP(cheap, tons of games available) or a Vita(futureproof). Ugh, decisions.
Get the Vita instead. If you purchase your PSP games from the PSN, you should be able to play them on the Vita as well. It would also be upscaled. Only problem I could see is if the PSP games you want to play are not available digitally on the PSN.
@ZettaiSeigi
No, I know about the backwards compatibility with PSP games that are on the PSN. I've just had a couple side-qualms. I'm worried about battery life, the thing sounds a bit on the large size, game price. Overall, I'm leaning towards the Vita, but my last problem is that I'm leaving the states in August to go live for another year in Ecuador(where I currently am), and it'd be rather a pain in the neck to get it over here.
I guess at this point I'm pretty much sold. But with two questions. Does anyone know what happened to that white model? Also, do the analog sticks compress into the unit for travel, it seems like they could break pretty easily otherwise.
I heard that the sticks neither retract nor click (like L3 and R3) .
I'm sure there will be hard travel cases.
It might come out the day before my birthday in the UK. Too bad thats not the US release date so I could have bought it as a self-present. 😀
F yeah! 4 days before my birthday… Yoink.
Sony needs a new plumber. Too many leaks.
