When the NGP was announced, we saw the first promotional trailer. It was slick but it didn't really show us much of the unit in question.
To get a better look, check out the newly released video below. It gives you a chance to see some of the games, along with the new touch functionality; you also might notice the use of motion-sensing Sixaxis controls, too. There's a new Hot Shots , along with a game called Gravity Daze , the Killzone adaptation for the NGP, Reality Fighters , Broken , Little Deviants , Wipeout , and oh yeah, Uncharted .
So, what do you think? It's a lot of high-definition portable goodness, yes? It seems they really are planning to release plenty of titles to go along with the device's launch, and the list of supporting developers and designers is impressive. All that's left now is to determine an exact date and price…let's just hope Sony doesn't go too nuts with the latter.
Yeah the NGP is way of telling the world how Technology should be Evolved!
Looks awesome. Although I have seen this trailer before, they were not so clear. Can't wait for this to release.
Gravity Daze looks interesting too.
Come to think of it. Who exactly is developing Gravity Daze anyway?
@ looking glass
Sony Computer Entertainment
I know that. But Sony Computer Entertainment as I'm sure everyone here already knows has a number of internal first party development studios. What I would like to know is which one is handling it.
i don't know
I'm not sure if anyone outside of the industry knows. But nevertheless I appreciate the effort Kiryu.
NGP for me! D1P!
Sony is attacking in all directions. PS3 momentum is high. Monster 2011 Exclusives. PSPhone. PSsuite for Android and other platforms. Steam!
Playstation brand is on a roll!
Absolutely.
On a roll crushing everything in its path. With this much saturation though it might have another slow start, but we all know Sony is the king of finishing what it starts so there's no need to worry.
We have come a long way since the poor early marketing of the PS3.
Kevin Butler FTW
Sony has definitely improved their playstation ads. No more freaky babies or ads like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psd8oVToS8k
The freaky baby ads and such would not have been so bad if they were not the only ones that SONY created. If they would have coupled them with more mainstream ones it would have balanced the demographic.
This vid gave me the goosebumps! And very nice music selection for the ad. Anyone know the title of the song?
Man, before I wasn't too keen on being D1P. But this is making me think twice, thrice, quadr….. oh heck! D1P!
oh and to clarify my hesitations on D1P–its more on the hardware being at 100%. Y'know, some gadgets fresh off the first batch tend to get the defects… But man, is NGP suhWEEET!
Normally I'd agree, but this isn't Apple or MS so it should be fine out of the gate 🙂
That golf game looks kind of fun.
Did you notice how moving the unit up or down changed the camera angle in Hot Shots? I'm pretty sure it uses camera tracking via the rear mounted camera. Same technology I think they should use for a portable Fatal Frame game!
Sony has made the decision to get this before the 3DS easy.
This was also at the presentation aswell as the concept video.
They should put at the end "NGP it only does everything"!
NGS is still a codename
NGS? Next Generation Solid?
Next Gear Solid?
Natal Gear Solid
(eh? eh? see what i did there? eh?… ahhh heck…)
Dude. Wow. Seriously buying one of these the day it comes out. I may actually pre-order on to make sure I don't have to wait for a second shipment. Those games look amazing, the touch screen and pad look very innovative, the accelerometer aspect to control is awesome. There is nothing about this that doesn't scream "Buy me now!"
It all depends on the battery life for me. If it's 6-8 hours, I'm SOLD! I maybe dreaming though
I'm hoping that it has good battery life, but honestly I probably wouldn't be able to use it for lengths of time that would make me upset with a 3-4 hour battery life. It would more over be for playing during lunch break at work or in between classes.
Me and NGP in uber happy harmony.
I want it even more now. The incorporation of motion and touch interface gives the games even more immersion. Can't wait!
Metroidvania for this plx!
Gravity Daze looks amazing(just from what I could see. Definitely need to look into it more). I love the cel-shaded look to the Killzone game and Uncharted made me soil myself.
One NGP to go plz!
Damn, that thing looks more awesome than a porpoise on a surfboard.
Yeah Killzone looked really good. Of course uncharted did. Actually they all looked pretty cool. Nuff Said…
That hustle kings game looks nice. I love playing pool, now that I'm mentioning about it, my nickname use to be sharky, I was pretty damn good in junior high. And of course the rest looked nice.

That screen looks like it's bigger than 5-inches diagonal. Is it actually 5-inches wide?
yeah it looks massive.
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like it's 6-7 inch screen. Maybe it's the width that made the illusion.
I think it's the hands themselves. The first 'gamer' holding the unit appears to be female (judging from the hands appearance and finger nails). Of course women generally have smaller hands and more slender fingers. So the unit will look bigger in the hands of a woman.
Still, I wonder about the span of the unit, that screen looks gorgeous regardless.

"the unit will look bigger in the hands of a woman."
Thank goodness for that!
lol
Haha the 'awesome' simply pours from his fingertips. Sometimes w/out even trying.
This week's avatar… not really digging it. Bring back the anime chicks with their anime underpants & everything.
RadioHeader!!
Dude! I said it was a female hand. If any hand is going to pour awesomeness from the fingertips, it's going to be a female one. IMHO of course….
😉
Looks amazing. I can't wait to have it.
I was kinda hoping to see a trophy pop during one of those gameplay vids.
And a game called Smart Ass. What next?
Better than Jackass.
Amazing graphics, and amazing psp versions of great ps3 games.
Definitely getting it.
Any word on what they're going to call it? Because I doubt they will go with PSP2, my bet is something more like PSPEvolved or something where they give it a name not a number.
PSP 360?
I joke, but I think that's why they're reluctant to use "PSP 2", for the same reason M$ didn't want the Xbox "2" to be compared to the PS "3".
Sony want to emphasize the power of the NGP, that it is closer to a PS3 than a PS2.
So, I would agree that they are trying to develop a name element rather than a number for the NGP.
