Square-Enix Invites Us To Cling Together In February

The strategy/RPG does indeed survive these days, even if it's mostly limited to the handheld realm.

Long-time fans of the engrossing sub-genre remember the name Tactics Ogre and it's likely those fans will be interested in a modernized remake. Today, Square-Enix has announced that Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together will release on February 15 in North America. Designed for the PSP and featuring a whole new set of refined visuals and a few other improvements and enhancements, those who pre-order the game at GameStop, EB Games Canada, Amazon.com or Amazon.ca will receive "a beautiful Tactics Ogre Tarot Card Deck featuring unique illustrations by celebrated artist Akihiko Yoshida." The details concerning the updates are as follows:

"After more than a decade, the critically acclaimed Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together will be reborn with significant new content, including an entirely updated storyline featuring new characters, dramatic choices, engaging plots and pitched battles. The remake also features innovative changes to the battle system, character development, and even the combat interface, which all serve to update its classic strategic gameplay, making battles more intuitive and, most importantly, fun."

Furthermore, because players can experience branching storylines and different endings, the developers have added the Chariot Tarot and World Tarot systems, which let players "rewind both key battles and return to critical plot points in an effort to change their fate." Hey, did we have this option after picking the Flame Champion in Suikoden III , or did we have to play the whole game over again to pick a different Champion…? I forget.

Well, anyway, this is great news for strategy/RPG fans who either loved Tactics Ogre back in the day or for fans of the genre who have yet to try it.

FF7 is just around the corner, I'm sure of it.

Indeed, even the most seemingly oblivious companies take advantage of a cash cow sooner or later.

Awesome. This along with the other million rpgs on psp is the reason to truly own the psp.

Well along with the two supreme GOW titles, MGS: Peace Walker, GT psp, etc.

Main reason I didnn't play the original Tactics Ogre is that it's Strategy RPG. I like strategy rpgs now so might get this.

If only they'd feel this way 'bout all their games.

Once you pick your champion you are stuck with them, so I'm glad I made the right choice.

And screw this game, SE, stop playing with these portable titles and put every effing person on Versus to get it done before we all die waiting for you to put out a quality title this gen.

Tactics Ogre was ok I suppose, but I always prefered Ogre Battle. I still break that title out at least once a year to play through again.

I have mint copies of both, Ogre Battle:Limited Edition, and Ogre Tactics, in my PS1 collection.

BTW, I was surprised to see Ogre Battle's selling rate last year, was for $200 and up.

Oh good, a tarot card deck. Just in case I want to get possessed on the weekend.

I always thought tarot cards were used to tell one's fortune, instead of contacting the other world. I could be wrong though.
