Square-Enix: Six More Titles Become “Ultimate HIts”

While the Sony platforms have the "Greatest Hits" collection, Square-Enix has an honorary little club of their own.

It's called "Ultimate Hits," and as of today, they've announced six more games as members of this very exclusive assembly. …then again, maybe it's not so "exclusive" after all, as there are now 51 Square-Enix titles in the Ultimate Hits collection. But anyway, this year, five of the six new additions are on the PSP, and although this may only apply to Japan, it's still worth noting (right, import fiends?). According to FinalFantasyUnion , the new list of inductees is as follows:

These games will enjoy a new lower price tag (2,940 yen) as of July 30 in Japan, although there's no knowing if we'll ever see this same price reduction in North America or Europe. And yes, those two big titles are definitely on there: Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and the movie, "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children." We also like to see The Lion War on there, just 'cuz FFT is the greatest game ever made…oh, but it's true.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the US release of FFXII and the "International Zodiac Job System" version is?

when did you buy? if it was over a year ago it should still be BC. if not then you have to buy a PS2.

Nope…sorry you'll need a PS2.

If you place a PS2 'on' top of your PS3, then technically… or if you sit on your PS3 while playing on the PS2, then technically…

No, there isn't.

The "lower" price of 2940 yen would actually be a price increase for most of these titles in the US.

@ Ben – What's so great about FFT? I just picked up a copy for my PSP out of Target's clearance bin for $4.98 (~498 yen). It's not bad, but certainly not the greatest game I ever played.

FF Tactics is a hit or miss for some. I bought the Original for PSOne a few years back just because i wanted to access the hidden Final Fantasy VII characters Cloud and Aeris but i didnt like the game play much. Its not for everyone. You either love it hate it.

It's an acquired taste. If you're used to the typical FF formula than you will be disappointed. I personally love the game for its deep gameplay.

BTW watch what you say about Tactics…Arvis is still around here.

I'm not saying I hate it or that it's a bad game…I just don't think it deserves the "Greatest of All Time" moniker.

Personally I think Jeanne d'Arc is better.

It's great because it's the greatest strat/RPG ever and the greatest bestest most amazingest game ever.

…sorry, I could go into technical reasons as to why I love it, but it's just easier to do this.

That's what's great about games. You love the ones you love because you love them. Not because someone else told you it's good.

@Alienange,

I get that part. I'm was just trying to figure out what I'm missing. But now that I've been informed that it's "the greatest bestest most amazingest game ever.", I totally understand.

LOL. yeah… i don't like it either even though I totally loved Jeanne D'Arc. Weird how that works.

I'd like to take this moment to thank SE for FFVII on PSN. Now gimme FFVIII and you'll be my friend again.

like to see IX as well. Not as good as VII or VIII but still nice to have them all in digital format non the less.

I am kind of relieved that I dont have to risk damaging my original ps1 discs any more. Oh ya, and psp support.

No kidding! I haven't tried it on the psp yet though. Is it only through remote play or can i actually copy the whole game to my psp memory card?

2940 yen?…so about $29.40….but I got FF Tactics for $9.99 about 3 months ago…and another got it here for $4.98 or something like that. What the heck S-E?! Oh but then again…I got it for $9.99 for some "GAME DAYS" sale which was going on in GameStop.

Hell, I only paid $1 each for the original's disc sets of FFVII & Tactics.

Didn't realize how much a bargain I had gotten till I happen to see them on ebay one day….holy crap!
