E3 2009: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker For PSP Announced

And here's Hideo Kojima; it's no coincidence that he steps to the stage immediately after the PSP Go! unveiling.

Why? He's got Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to unveil! It takes place 10 years after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater so he calls it a "true sequel in the MGS franchise," and you needn't fear about spinoffs or side stories. Kojima also confirmed that he will be "deeply involved with the title," as he will write the script and furthermore, much of the team behind MGS4 is also contributing to Peace Walker . Snake is definitely coming back to the PSP in fine form, and we can say that because we're currently watching the extremely impressive trailer for it right now! We absolutely can't believe this is on the PSP, and it clearly features all the stealth elements we've always loved in the series. Snake can do just about anything as he always could, and PSP fans ought to be more than psyched; they ought to be literally drooling. Leave it to Kojima and Co. to produce a game that looks this technically accomplished on a handheld device. The final words of the trailer: "they believed they were creating a paradise."

HA! There's the cardboard box! Ah, Kojima has a sense of humor. Peace Walker has a tentative 2010 release date, and you can be sure we'll be bringing you all the new info as it becomes available.

The ending to that trailer was "piss my pants" funny. Oh, and thanks for not abandoning the stealthy elements with this one 🙂

He laid out the story and let his team do the rest I'm pretty sure.

I'd just like to point out here that i was viewing the trailer on youtube with no audio (I am in the Falkland Islands and the internet is a little slow here!) so what I am saying may be out of context but….

Looking at the trailer and seeing this image

That is the same 5 off the teaser site from before – so doesn't that give some considerable sway to the argument that Peace Walker is the next MGS and that Rising is a real spinoff?

Yes sir. Kojima made that real clear to us. He was almost winking to us saying "this isn't on PS3, but this is the real sequal, not that other game"

But anyway, so is the MGS game exclusive to the 360??? I'm almost sure it isn't but after it being a no show at Sony's conference I'm not sure anymore.

Kojima said that he will be very involved in the psp mgs together with the crew that brought mgs4. So that raiden thing is pretty much a shell of mgs, seeing as kojima would rather be involved in a portable version, but it isnt exlusive.

I have to amdit i was hoping the BB image was representing PSP with the pure detail of the image, but alass. I'm guessing your going to control 4 players like on P.O, its not a sequel to MGS3, its a Sequal to P.O….

I'll still get it no doubt, but i hope they dont make all the obvjectives A to B like on P.O, i dont really play that game at all come to mention it, i only got it for the story.. and some parts were absurd (Ursila mainly). but we'll see i guess.

Interesting also hwo it said the missing like. It made it sound very final.. could this be the last in the series… surely not.

I'll be grabbing this one. If it is true MGS story and plotline I must have it. Hopefully it is not a fall 2010 release.

This a a true sequel and "Not a Spinoff or a Side Story" that was pointing out mgs:raising for ps3/360. He still perfers Ps3 over 360!!

This game actually looks to play more like Snake Eater than Portable Ops. I'm excited. Oh, and for the record, Metal Gear Storm woulda been a better name for Raiden's game. That way they could've dropped the solid and it still coulda been MGS. Not to mention the name would've related to Raiden better. Oh well, Kojima knows best.

Much appreciated. That's the name I was guessing it would be the whole time. I thought it sounded so cool. I don't know exactly what rising stands for in the title, but I'm sure that Kojima has a plan. He always does. Speaking of names, Josh just isn't a good one for this site. Trust me on this one.

So am I… it does look good really! Amazing what they can do on such a small machine. What about GT for the Psp; that for me was incredible!

Q!

"i am home"

lmao! haha, well it would make sense being a storm and raiden being electrified, although it's telling how he rises i suppose aha. I just hope they don't mess it up!

I'm pretty effing pissed that it's for the PSP, but more metal gear is always a good thing right? Maybe they will port it to ps3 eventually..?

Probably not. But here's my prediction. Make MGS: Rising and MGS: Peace Walker to raise enough dough to make MGS5 exclusivly for the PS3.

Why the hell make it for psp?
They should have made for ps3.
Sod buying a psp just to play one game.
They should put it on the psn as a download at least!

BikerSaint

Hmmm, There's got to be some quadruple cloning going on in the story somewhere cause that unit consists of 5 of the same Big Bosses, right near the end of of the PSP trailer, sneaking up on that flying transformer robot(?)looking thingie.
