Ben-DutkaWe know you've been looking for reasons to pick up your PSP since early last year when God of War: Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII launched. Well, we've got good news for role-playing fans: Phantasy Star Portable is scheduled to release in North America earlier than expected.
Sega has confirmed the new date over at their official blog, and it's only one month away: March 3. There had been a rumor circulating around the Internet for some time that Sega would push up the release date for the hotly anticipated multiplayer RPG, and this has finally been confirmed as fact. PSP for the PSP (heh) is a direct sequel to Phantasy Star Universe , which means fans will very likely see the same classes and races once again. Furthermore, although this particular Phantasy Star installment won't feature online play, it will allow up to four portable players via the wireless ad-hoc option. If there's one thing you can typically count on from the PSP, it's a decent influx of RPGs, and that's good news for role-playing aficionados. Considering they have to wait a very long time for the most anticipated RPGs on the PS3, it makes perfect sense to have a PSP at home. And remember, if you're into old-school RPGs and wish they would bring that style back to home consoles, you have to stop dreaming. Instead, look on the PSP; there are plenty of selections that will remind you of the glory days of the PS1 and PS2!
So Phantasy Star Portable should be the first big PSP release of 2009, but Sony has a decent software lineup prepared for the rest of the year. If you're looking for bang for your buck, this one ought to fit the bill nicely.

This is why i love my psp; great rpgs.can't wait to get my spirited green psp in march:)

green psp? thats cool. Never heard or seen any other colour than Black. Phantasy star is a great game, can't wait to try this out!

Thats flippin' crazy I didn't even know a Phantasy Star PSP game was even coming out. I ate up Episode 1 and 2 on the Gamecube!
I'd rather have a phantasy star come out for ps3, it is desperate for a good rpg at the moment.
