LittleBigPlanet PSP Rumor Resurfaces

Earlier this year, rumors began to circulate regarding the possibility of a LittleBigPlanet project for the PSP. Well known as one of the biggest releases for the PlayStation 3 this month, LBP is one of those games that should appeal to a very wide demographic, and due to Sony's ambition to increase the level of connectivity between the PS3 and PSP, perhaps such an idea isn't impossible.

And now, more evidence has been located to support the theory. As you can see by this job listing , SCEE is currently searching for a "PSP Game Engine Lead," who will be responsible "for the design and implementation of key game components and the development of exciting new LittleBigPlanet projects." Typically, this is where the rumor ends, but Media Molecule boss Mark Healy spoke about the possibility of a portable version of LBP in a recent Eurogamer.TV interview. In it, he said- "There's definitely scope for a PSP version, we've had discussions and talks, [but] nothing concrete at the moment." Putting such a huge game on both platforms would indeed be lucrative for Sony, but we have one question: if the game takes up over 40 gigs of space on a Blu-Ray disc, how exactly is it going to fit on PSP software? Will it be a toned-down version of the PS3 game? Or are we talking about an entirely new LBP project that is separate from the PS3 title that comes out on October 21? We admit to having plenty of questions, but such a job listing has got everyone talking.

With the announcement of the new PSP-3000 model and more third-party developers starting to jump on board, Sony's handheld continues to grow. To have a title like LittleBigPlanet as part of its library would be undeniably huge, and should boost sales. We'll keep an eye on this to see what transpires.

My guess is that they wanna make LBP Remote Play Compatible. They'd need to bring a PSP programmer in to make sure it would work.

IF it's standalone, it would be a good reason to use my psp for a legitimate reason ^_^

I know they can tone the game down, however I would think it would have far fewer options for customizations. Anyways didn't Phil Harrison say LBP was only possible on the Playstain 3. I don't think I would really be interested in LBP on the PSP.

Ben, when I pre-ordered it, gamestop gave me a beta code for resistance 2 it said I had to go to some website to enter it and they were going to send me a message on the ps3 saying what do to download it. When will that come. Oh yeah that was off topic just need to know.

I think if Mm made an entirely new game, and it was for the PSP, I would be excited. LBP doesn't sound like it would work for a handheld, even if it's not as huge. However, I guess they could pull something off, so it's not entirely out of the question.
