Sony recently revealed the new PSP-3000 at the Leipzig Games Convention, which will certainly give handheld sales a boost this holiday season. And now, we have the first Japanese release details for the enhanced unit.
According to Reuters, Sony has announced it will launch the new PSP model in Japan on October 16 for the price of 19,800 yen (about $182), and as most of you already know, it boasts an advanced LCD screen for better viewing in the out-of-doors, plus a built-in microphone. The new model will drain a bit more in the way of power – battery life will drop by 20-30 minutes – but the fancy new look should be worth it. As the article says, "a quicker response makes moving pictures look seamless and natural." SCE Japan president Shawn Layden had this to say at the news conference: "The LCD is the face of a PSP, and it is an important feature of the 3000 model." The PSP-3000 will first be available in October in North America as well, as it will come in the form of several bundle options.
With this new model and the recent influx of quality software for Sony's handheld, consumers have more reasons then ever to pick up the PSP. Clearly, Sony wants it to be a super popular item for the holidays, and at this rate, it probably will be.
i might trade in my PSP slim for tis one
lol then there will be a psp 4000, then you will trade in your psp 3000, and so on.
when will the PSP-3000 be available without the bundle in NA?
We're not sure, but I'd say maybe a week or two after the bundles. End of October, probably.
I hope it's not some crappy bundle. FF:CC, or GoW:CoO! No Madden NFL type…
