Yamauchi Confirms Gran Turismo PSP Still In The Works

Everyone is talking about Gran Turismo 5: Prologue , but PSP owners are wondering if Polyphony Digital still plans to release a handheld version of the popular racer. We haven't heard much in the way of updates this year, so many are concerned that the project may have been scrapped.

But have no fear, portable fans. According to Eurogamer, Yamauchi has confirmed that Gran Turismo is still coming to the PSP, but they probably won't get down to serious business until Prologue is done and gone. And they may have to get further along on GT5 as well.

"We had been developing the PSP version, but the problem was that the PS3 version took much more time and effort than we had first imagined," Yamauchi told Eurogamer. "So that's been delayed – I don't think we'll be able to make the end of this year for the PSP version, but we are working on it."

Not surprisingly, Polyphony hopes to have connectivity between the PSP GT and the PS3 GT…which would be one hell of a bonus feature. But as Yamauchi says, the handheld version probably won't release in 2008, so perhaps we'll see it at about the same time as GT5…? We can always hope.

I REALLY hope this comes out..

mainly because I really want to play this, and also the fact that I have been adamant that this will still come out.. even though most say it wouldnt.

im glad this is back in the news… brings hope to a decent racer on the PSP.

we need something after that awful Flatout!!

Honestly they could probably re-release gt3 on PSP with more recent vehicles and have made a wonderful game. I'm sure they won't though. They'll go way above and beyond the call of duty.
