They are without question the most influential rock band of all time, having covered virtually every sub-genre of rock music and even going as far as creating a psychedelic sound that nobody can ever match. The Beatles are the world's most famous rock quartet, and perhaps the biggest music license in the industry. So, last year, when rumors began to circulate that EA, MTV, and Harmonix were able to secure a license from Apple Corps., the hype train began rolling. Following on the trails of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and the very hot trails of Guitar Hero: Metallica, The Beatles: Rock Band will launch September 9th, and it looks fantastic.
Unlike GH: Aerosmith and Metallica, which were largely based on GH3 and World Tour, respectively, The Beatles: Rock Band is built from the ground up and has nothing to do with any of the past Rock Band games. Much like other band specific games, Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were the prime sources of input for the game, in addition to Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison, and Giles Martin. Martin is also the producer of the game, meanwhile Dhani Harrison, son of George and Olivia, is contributing in the form of modeling for the game's animation.
Now, keep in mind that MTV Games has yet to make any of this information official, so the info here isn't concrete and can end up different in the final product. The game's progression is said to cover the band's early days starting out in Liverpool, then pass through the psychedelic phase of Srg. Pepper, into the self-titled 'White Album', Abbey Road, everything in between, and even things we've never heard before that the band never released, which on its own mkes this game worth the price of admission already to people like me. In addition to the audio also comes never before seen video.
As you should all know by now, The Beatles: Rock Band will give four players the chance to team up and reenact a rumored 45 tracks using their Beatles themed Rock Band instruments. These themed instruments will be based on the instruments most frequently used by the band, such as Paul McCartney's Hofner bass, and a Ludwig branded drumset with design inspired by Ringo's actual setup. Despite the themed instruments, your original Rock Band controllers will work with The Beatles: Rock Band, so feel free to purchase the stand alone copy…but I think many would rather opt for the bundle, it's just that cool.
Unfortunately, due to licensing limitations, these Beatles tracks will not be made available as content for Rock Band 2 or future Rock Band games, largely for the same reason they're still not available on services such as iTunes. Again, that can all change as the release of the game gets closer, and this is not the final word. Back to the gameplay, word has it that the game will support duets, allowing players to use two microphones with the game. Most importantly, the game will not only boast the 40% collection of Beatles tunes owned by McCartney and Ono, but will also include the catalogue owned by Sony/ATV (a publishing collaboration between Michael Jackson and Sony formed in 1995), so fear not.
Information for The Beatles: Rock Band is still somewhat scarce as we don't know how the game's career mode will play out, but we're sure it'll be chronological. Look for it September 9th.
i respect the beatles, but honestly what song would you rather rock out to with your mates Sgt Peppers or Enter the Sandman?
*sigh* I know the song your talking about, i actually know alot of beatles tracks. I'm not saying they are crap, like i said i respect them for what they have given to music, their style/styles have influenced alot of bands of every genre. What i'm saying is that for a game that, and lets be truthful here, that will be played mostly by guys and their mates after a few drinks, beatles tracks really will not be number one on their list to rock out to. Now this is my opinion, but i now stand before all the internets waiting to be shot down for saying anything 'bad' regarding the fab four.
i will say that i would actually class Led Zeppelin and Black sabbath as the true influences on modern heavy metal, but each to their own…
I get what you are saying, but I personally would rather rock out to sgt pepper simply because I don't like Metallica and the Beatles are my favorite band.
Sgt. Pepper of course! Metallica can go crawl back under the rock they came from and take Guitar Hero with them while they are at it. 🙂
It's actually just "Enter Sandman"… no need for "the".
and I love The Bealtes. I listen to them EVERY day and I won't be getting this. I don't think it'll fare so well.
@N a S a H
all the more reason 2 get it… if it doesn't fare well, and gets pulled off shelves, then the ones sold will then become collectors pieces; and for those who collect games (like me), that would be a pretty sick piece to show my children in 10-15 years, as with all my games from my snes cartridges to my blurays.. in my case, i buy what ever interests me, and keep it instead of trading it, knowing that there will come a time where you can no longer get these "retro" games…
however the future of collecting does look rather grim im afraid, my snes is only now starting to fail me, and with the mortality rates of modern consoles, a console's lifetime may never rival that of the old systems… once sony's 10 year ps3 run is done, if any ps3 breaks, thats the end of it.. still, its a safe bet that those who will collect 360's and their peripherals will suffer from this problem more than the ps3 collectors, and much sooner as well i might add…
Love the beatles, hate having to pay for a 60$ game over and over again instead of about 20$ dlc that it should be. I mean come on, they release albums all the time on rock band 2 on psn and such for 19.99. Just using the big names to try and sell brand 'new' games…
Sex sells… And The Beatles ish teh Sex!
Edit: This saying can be used for so many things xD.
Edit 2: There are many different kinds of Sex >_>
Edit 3: Edit 2 was kind of inappropriate… <_<
Edit 4: Edit 3 is a pansy! Rock on!

This is bigger than Rock Band: Jesus Edition!
they've already got that one mate,
http://www.christianguitarherogame.com/
….awesome?
BigTones: I think that Oyashiro was making a comic reference to the 'bigger than Jesus' comment that Lennon made that caused some major backlash in the media.
Yeah…UH-HU.
Yeah, I thought everyone would catch that reference.
I certainly did

Hey Arnold!
I got a problem with my sign-in email and stuff. Who should i write?

NO THANKS, release a track pack for god sakes. I don't want a game based on a band my grandmother threw her panties at.
King, For your comment I can guess you are 13 years old.
The Beatles is the most influential band of all time. And, if you like them or not, it's a fact.
I will be glad "playing" the Beatles songs and listening to good music.
And the Beatles are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Metallica, Aerosmith or Van Halen (The GH titles)
OFF TOPIC: Ben & Arnold, thanks for the mobile site, but I'm disappointed that it doesn't allow comments.
Just because he thinks they should have made a dlc music pack with the songs on it and he said something along the lines of his grandmother throwing her panties at them, doesn't make him 13.
Also, BigTonesAUS makes a extremely valid point. Yes, they were pretty damn influential, no one is gonna deny that. But a whole game about them and only their songs to rock out to? nah, some will pass. Now strike a deal with led zeppelin, black sabbath, or someone else, you got a good deal imo.
Beatles? love em but i will pass.

22, Beatles or not. Not everyone who plays rockband listens to, let alone know who the beatles are. Like I said, release a track pack not another $60 Band influenced game. I'm assuming your over 35? They've had a major influence on more than a few bands but is there music the same? I love rap but I don't walk around ranting and wishing for a Whodini or Grandmaster Flash comeback. I think the Beatles are ok.
Just because someone's an icon doesn't mean we should ride their jock strap. Their time is over. Besides you can't give Michael Jordan credit for Kobe Bryant's career.
Thanks Aaron. Pav if you think they're better than whoever, good for you. That's your opinion. I'd take the killers over the Beatles anyday, THAT'S MY OPINION. You can D%&% ride all you want.
King, I apologize if you felt attacked by my previous comment. But If your grandma listened The Beatles, then you should be very young.
And yes it's my opinion than they are better than a lot of musicians.
And about getting the Beatles music as DLC or paying $60 for a BD. I prefer the BD because each DLC song is $1.99, 40+ songs @ 1.99 equal to almost 80 bucks… so I'll be saving 20
Probably the only ever rhythm game I've ever been genuiinely excited for
I have preordered the game only, but am tempted to get the bundle. The wife would be pretty pissed at the $250 price tag since I already have a ful set.
I am amazed that more people are not stoked about this… The Beatles are the grandfathers of rock and roll. Every genre known has been touched by this band.
I personally can not wait for this to be released. I was a bit bummed to hear that there will not be a keyboard perepheral, but love the fact that duets will be possible. I have a feeling that band members will need to switch instruments during a gig as well. that would be sweet.
They are not just building a new game, it is sitting on a new game engine as well. This game is gonna be awesome. Of course you will need to switch disks to play the other rock band songs, but I am OK with that, especially if they have DLC for the Beatles Rockband game as well.
Love it, love and love it.
This is great! Dragging the 50 somethings into Rock Band and video games.
Beatles collectors will get this and not even open it….trust me on this. I know 3 older guys already talking about it.
@bigtones
Metallica.
I hate the Beatles. There, I said it! I've always had to play the Devils Advocate on the Beatles. I thought that Motley Crue's version of Helter Skelter was much better, but thats me. But I wont deny that the Beatles were very big during and way after their time. And they did pave the way for many bands that I love. I listen to bands like Skid Row, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, KISS, Van Halen, AC/DC, Metallica, GnR, Led Zeppelin, and many others. I'd rather them do a Rock Band that has nothing but different genres like a Metal edition or maybe on that features the best classic rock.

Now you're talking!!!
But you forgot Judas Priest and Iron Madien. They are Metal staples….don't forget them again.
these corporations are capitalizing on the popularity of these music/rhythm games BIG TIME. Band-based disc games and new peripherals for each one………wow.
I have their CD's and some of the vinyls as well. Nuff said.
Count me with the ones who will be buying it. A friend of mine argued that it won't be fun, because the songs won't be difficult, but I play simple songs in Rock Band all the time, because I like listening to the songs. That's going to be plenty reason for people to buy this game. On a side note, I got a book for Christmas a couple years ago that has the complete scores to all the Beatles songs, so I guess you could say I'll have 2 copies?
This will be the game for me and my would-be stoner friends that like old songs and not metal.
=D
They seriously need to add Jerry C's Canon Rock song in one game. It's epic.
Should be noted that Helter Skelter was inspired by the heaviness of The Who's I Can See For Miles, so no.
