Call Of Duty Elite Beta Testing Starts For PS3 Owners

Yeah, it's true that when it comes to Call of Duty , Microsoft gets special treatment.

That's why Activision has been inviting Xbox 360 owners into the Call of Duty Elite program for the past two months, while PlayStation 3 owners have been left out in the cold. Well, they're used to it.

And besides, the wait is over. Activision has confirmed that beta testing for the PS3 has started, and you might start seeing an invitation to join in on the fun. If you registered to participate, start checking your e-mail; the beta goes in phases and the first batch of invites have already gone out. You can also gain access to Elite through Call of Duty: Black Ops .

If you're let into the action, you'll examine various aspects of the new initiative, including customizable player groups, competitive events, stat-tracking, and other cool stuff like video sharing. If you like what you see, you can sign up for Call of Duty Elite when Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 8. Boasting free and premium content for the price of $50/year, it's not a bad idea for the avid followers.

By the way, don't forget that premium Elite members – those who fork over the cash – will be eligible to participate in competitions for both real and virtual prizes. Those premium subscribers can also level up clans and receive feedback and analysis from some of the top CoD players in the world. Is that enough to hold your interest?
