New Counter-Strike To Boast Move Support, Linked Networking

Well, the more control options the better, yes?

According to Kotaku , Valve's upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will support PlayStation Move, mouse and keyboard controls, and shared online networks that will unite the PlayStation 3, PC and Mac versions.

And if you're a Counter-Strike fan from back in the day, you'll be interested to read the rest of the article, which features details and information concerning weaponry, maps, basic gameplay, and more. By the way, here's what you can expect from a weapon standpoint:

The return of Counter-Strike will occur during the first quarter of next year. Do you plan to play it with Move? How about the mouse and keyboard? And it'll be fun to play against your buddy who's using a different platform, huh? PC vs. PS3 should be fun.

Counter Strike takes me back…probably my first online game experience ever. Plan on picking this up (downloading it) whenever it comes out.

"…and keyboard controls"… that is incredible… why have other developers not given gamers this choice from the outset…

Well done…

Not sure, I know some games on PS3 support Mouse and Keyboard, but I haven't seen any other games though that do.

My roommate has the eagle eye mouse and keyboard converter. He uses it on his PS3 for all his FPS games. It may or may not differ from what CS will offer but no matter how you look at it, it's still a keyboard and mouse set up for your PS3.

I believe Unreal Tournament 3 (ps3 version) supported keyboard and mouse as well. I know of no other games though.

I'll confirm that BeamBoom, M&KB was my choice interface on PS3 Ut3.
It worked. If only they could've got the game to run at 60fps

And for the sake of fairness, Epic was wise to indicate a mouse icon in the lobby for anyone using one. Not that you really needed to know, because those who played with the mouse would pivot so much faster. Thankfully, Epic created a filter to segregate the mouse players from the pad players. It's unfair otherwise.

Would be great to play BF3 with mouse and keyboard on my console 🙂

Yeah i love how Valve has embraced the ps3 and the cross platform technology. Of course, Portal 2 has this and it works soooo well. I applaud their forward thinking and I'm excited to see what comes next from them. Bravo Valve!!! Bravo!!!

If there was a way for them to allow mods on the PS3 that would make me even happier, but this is great to hear as well.

I feel bad for the people using a DS3 against a person with a FPS optimised rig though. That showdown would be brutally one-sided.

It's about time! I know several people who will take a look at this game more now that has Move and Mouse support.

Options are good thing.

Keyboard is just archaic and I don't feel like holding up a Move controller for hours on end. I say give us Navigator and Mouse controls. THAT would be something special.

Oh, and cross platform Counter Strike? Yeah, Valve is on FIRE.

I thought there will never be a day where gamers on different platforms could play the same game session.

I was proved wrong. I like it.

FFXI was king at that. No region locks, and PS2, XBOX360, and PC could all play together. To compensate for everyone across the world playing, it had an auto-translate function for English, French, German, and Japanese.

I've partied up with many people who don't speak English and communicated just fine! Plus, I played with friends at my house. I would be on PC while they used my playstation. Multiplayer fun! ^.^

I loved me some FFXI back then. Still go back to it every now and then.

The Shadowrun game a few years ago allowed it as well, though the console crowd was obliterated pretty regularly.

Actually their were a few games on the Dreamcast that were cross platform. You had Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3. I remember having some interesting matches against PC players while playing these games. Oh how I miss the Dreamcast.

Good news. This just gives people more reason to be upset with MS's bullish practices. Anyone else read the crap about MS throwing the gauntlet at the feet of any pub who chooses to either release their multi-plat sooner or with additional content on any other platform?

http://www.next-gen.biz/news/microsoft-demands-simultaneous-multiplatform-releases

I apologize in advance for sending you to this link, but notwithstanding, MS's stance on this matter causes me to remind myself that I'm in gaming for the games and not the platform hardware provider. I love the creative minds of this medium of entertainment too much to ignore the content or allow big business tactics to overshadow the simple entertainment I engage as an end-user.
Anyway, this a dang shameful practice MS has professed to, and it's a dang shameful way for them to willingly admit their motives as if excusable. It's lame, wrong, and hurtful. Seeing that history shows that hardware providers will adopt new positions in the marketplace with coming generations, I hope MS is brought to justice by having to beg for the support.

Awesome! I remember playing CS back in the day a couple years after it released. I had great fun with it, although I got my butt kicked a lot man! I think CS and BF have to be my favorite online gaming experience.

All I can say is today is an EPIC day for gaming. I know Unreal Tournament took advantage of mouse and keyboard, but now that another developer has a hold of this maybe, we can see more developers do the same. And as for Vavles new stand on the PS3 platform I applaud it. This can only benefit us the gamers with this move. Move+ Key&Mouse+ crossplatform= EPIC!!

Well, it depends on the game. For FPS it's not as much about the KB as it is the pointing precision and control of the mouse. Headshots with a mouse I found to be near effortless.
Warcraft, (RTS or MMO) or Starcraft benefit from both KB and Mouse to a large degree. I know, I've tried RTS games on game pads. *shakes head* what's the point?

sigh- my, times have changed. To imagine there was a time when PCs dominated all things FPS and the very idea of a game pad was laughable, who scornfully abstained any FPS that was game pad only….
It hasn't been that long ago has it?

I have two gamepads for my PC. I just don't use them very often except for games that don't allow keymapping and a few driving games.

Beamboom

I had a game pad for the PC too but used it on one game only, GTA. The rest I used kb+m, and it's cause of the mouse like Temjin says. It simply is the best, fastest and most precise device to play a game with.

To be honest World, I actually like both ways… but because I have played on the PS3 way more than on a PC, I am comfortable with the controller.

Maybe now if I went back to playing on mouse and keyboard I wouldn't like it. Only way would be to try on BF3 or the like… but controllers I am happy with as well…

I wonder if a wireless keyboard would work.. I have the logitech PS3 keyboard and I love it, also has a built in mouse with left and right click pads on it. I wonder how that would work playing online.. Lol

All I would need though is a mouse.

Mouse and keyboard – yes sireeeeeee! I was a computer gamer until I got tired of endlessly paying out to keep my hardware capable of playing the latest games effectively. The fact that PS3 games are perfect out of the box every time is a big, big, big bonus, imho. Nonetheless, I loved being able to bind every key on my keyboard to a move/weapon/voice command for CS and I'll be looking forward to the control and options that the mouse/keyboard will likely offer even on the PlayStation.

Mouse and keyboard support for a game on PS3 is huge – really could make the PS3 the "go to" console for PC gamers. A mouse for aiming in an FPS can't be beat – controllers always make me feel like I'm not in control ironically.

I agree, going from mouse to controller felt like start using a wheel chair when you are used to use your legs.
