When we first heard about the concept behind Ubisoft's I Am Alive , we were intrigued.
Unfortunately, the game has been hiding in the shadows ever since the announcement, and many have wondered if the project is even "alive." Well, it is. And better still, a gameplay trailer debuted at GamesCom this year, and although it isn't long, it tells us a lot. It's a third-person action/adventure that shifts to an Elder Scrolls -like first-person view when aiming with a weapon. Check it out.
As you can see, it's using climbing and platforming mechanics that remind us of Uncharted and there's a definite grit to this production. We hadn't heard about the monster/zombie aspect of the game, but it still appears as if the focus is on post-apocalyptic survival. We still have to see a lot more but for now, we'll remain cautiously optimistic.

this looks like it could be pretty sweet. not sure about the view for weapons, i think i'd prefer third person, but we'll see how this shapes up

Pretty underwhelming. They've been hiding it for how many years? I expected more polish and this trailer is terrible.
I liked the earlier trailer a lot better. That trailer looked like the game would be fresh and original this trailer for some reason doesn't make me think that
Agreed.
Might be cool. Looks like a blend of a lot of different genres. Reminds me of Alone in the Dark, but that game was horrible. 😛

I had the same thought watching this trailer. It's the flashlight focus, I think, lends itself to any kind of survival-horror comparison.
nice
This video intrigues me even more. It looks pretty good to the point where I would want to play it for hours. So, I hope its a 60 dollar title not a downloadable one.
It was downgraded from full to downloadable
World, where did you see that? I must have missed it.
Well if it is downloadable only I'm going to be a little bit disappointed. On the bright side, it looks pretty freaking good for a downloadable title.
PSXE reported on that a few weeks back.
it cant be downloadable, the OFLC had a rating submission for this a while ago and they only rate retail games they dont do dl only titles.
I'm guessing the zombies were added during the pained development cycle to make it appeal to more people. I gave up on it when it became a digital game but was initially intrigued by the concept trailer.
I thought it was originally going to be a sort of "Day After Tomorrow" or "2012" survival-style game wherein it's not about killing people, but surviving the environment. That would have been a more interesting title, to me. Now it looks like any other post apocalyptic adventure, with glimmers of InFamous, Uncharted, and Assassin's Creed.
Still, it's got my interest. Here's hoping Ben'll do a review.

"The Environment doesn't make itself obvious. It draws you in and lulls you with its beautifully rendered landscape. And then it kills you." –Kevin Hoole, "The World is Out to Get You", The Escapist
I thought this wasn't due out till the PS5.
I would have likened the crawling and jumping to Assassin's Creed, myself, given it's an Ubisoft game and whatnot… but it looks interesting. Definitely on my upcoming radar!!
graphics looks like sh*t.
so?
see, this is EXACTLY whats wrong with this generation!
graphics are the holy grail, a game has to have good graphics otherwise it sucks!
god i wish we could go back to the old days where gameplay, level design and story were FAR more important!
really looking forward to this it looks really different.
OFLC had a rating submission for this a while ago too,so it must be releasing soon.
Anybody know if it's just Manhattan or Queens and Brooklyn etc. also?
chicago
Looks good enough might give it a try.
Well that is significantly less impressive than what was initially shown :-/ All drab colors and ugly graphics–as in, not lacking technical merit, but just plain ugly.
Ubisoft continues its downward plunge.
I was excited for this, too… I guess I'll keep a cautious eye on it.
three words
looks siiiiiiiiiiiick.
the third word was you going "YUP!"
