A lot of promising titles turned heads at this year's GamesCom event, but only one can take home the "Best Game Of" award.
A panel of industry professionals and other media members have made their selections for GamesCom 2011, and DICE's Battlefield 3 is their favorite. On a side note, Sony's new portable, the PlayStation Vita, was named Best Hardware of the show. Here's the list:
It's also nice to see Uncharted: Golden Abyss get some love. That's almost guaranteed to be one of the best launch titles for the Vita. As for Diablo III , we're still assuming it'll come to consoles as well but what we really need first is a release date . And by the way, I just have to say it- the day I care about a "browser game" is the day I'm full-on loopy and drooling into a little plastic cup.
I was really blown away with the Uncharted: Golden abyss story trailer. The graphics look improved from the e3 demo and it really showed how deep the games story will be.
Two things I'm getting Day1.
Wow John, your last comment really blew me away…
Hahaha, I'm with you on the browser game cup drooling man… I'm with you.
More proof that Battlefield 3 will be a CoD killer in every way but sales.
the multiplayer graphics look unreal. I am pumped for this, and also it is a CoD killer. Modern Warfare was a classic when it first came out but since then it's gone all downhill
Oh boy, I can't wait to play Once Upon a Monster!!!
I play that every time I adjust myself.
Uncharted 3 for best of Gamescom.
Agreed.
Has anyone seen the Battlefield 3 multiplayer trailer that was shown at gamescom? If not you really do owe it to yourself to check it out if you're the least bit interested. It's definately got me off the fence to make it a day one purchase. It really is that epic (I think).
ps. dear MW3….please feel free to suck it 🙂

Seriously, what was the competition going up against Vita? 3DS? Was that it?
Anyways, definitely getting Battlefield 3 on PC and definitely getting Uncharted Golden Abyss with my Vita purchase.
I was really glad to see Tim Schafer getting some love with Double Fine's Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster. I don't have kids, but that guy really knows how to make a fun game!!
"what was the competition going up against Vita" -> Yeah that's what I was thinking too! It would be real interesting to see.
It can't be the 3ds, that's already launched? So what could it have been?
And dude, that is *the* avatar. That girl is my new hero.

I was successful in claiming her first as my new avatar on this web site. So much prettier and just as awesome as my last avatar pic (Nathan Drake and Nathan Fillion side by side)
For some reason, I keep seeing your new avatar and thinking Claire C… odd. Good choice though!
=^.^=
Golden Abyss is looking great. It seems so far that the entire game will take place in the jungle just like Drakes Fortune, i hope it stays that way. I also hope that eventually we will get an Uncharted game set between 1 & 2 to fill in the story gap.
great to see BF3 getting the attention it deserves, but did they just say fifa 12 was the best console game at the show?
thats a joke right?
next they will be saying naughty bear was the best game ever released!
"Best Online Game: Star Wars: The Old Republic"
That game right there is the title that *may* pull me back to PC gaming. I've already started to seriously consider investing in a new gaming rig because of this game.
If the metascore will match the expectations then one word: Sold.

I just wish it was coming to the PS3.
Oh man, tell me about it.

I don't know about you, but since I sit at a PC all day, gaming from one doesn't sound appealing.
AT ALL.
I know exactly what you mean. One of the nicest things with getting the PS3 was to move the center of entertainment from the PC desk to the sofa.
But if I am to build a gaming PC today I would build it into one of those cabinets that makes the PC look more like a stereo rack and place the ps3 on top of it. Google "Thermaltake SD200" if you want to see an example of a nice cabinet.
Add to that a wireless keyboard, controller and mouse and hook it up to your TV set and it's not that much of a difference from playing on the ps3.

There in lies my problem. I refuse to use a mouse and keyboard. I like my DS3. Stubborn, yes. Thank you very much! LOL!
Hey, you can use the DS3 on the PC! It's just a bluetooth device like any other.
(I do start to sound like a PC salesman now, don't I? 😉 )
Oh man I just read on IGN about the coop feature in BF3: Highly strategical stealth/infiltration 2p coop missions! How awesome is that!
