Ben-DutkaEveryone was a little worried when Midway liquidated all its assets last year. What would happen to the legendary Mortal Kombat ?
Well, things have gone well for Warner Bros. Interactive after acquiring the MK name. WB Interactive President Martin Tremblay told MCV that the recently released Mortal Kombat reboot is closing in on 3 million units sold worldwide. The best part is that this great showing has almost paid for all the assets acquired from Midway, and that's what you call a solid piece of business. Fighters aren't as popular as they used to be; Super Street Fighter IV has sold 1.6 million to date and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds has reached 2 million. Those have been out longer than MK and yet, the dark, brutal title has passed 'em both. It just proves that the combination of name-brand recognition and great review scores results in good things.
And by the way, if you've got MK at home, you should seriously consider snagging Freddy Krueger. He's the new DLC for the game…gotta love that addition. Totally classic.

Yes! I have MK and I play it with at least 3 of my friends, it is very good, and we all bought the DLC! Hope Netherrealm keeps supporting the game with more characters, stages, what ever, and it's good that they went for the roots of the series!
I think Freddy was the last DLC character.

I was sure i read street fighter 4 ps3/xbox combined sold more than 3 million combined…
Those were the numbers through March. I'm pretty sure it's sold more then that now.
Street Fighter 4 =/= Super Street Fighter 4 =/= Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.
Farther down the line, the series will either have higher or lower sales obviously due to Crapcom making a patch in the form of a new game every 6 months.
They deserve every Kopy sold! The amount of Kontent Kramed into this game should be the new standard for fighters.
I know it's not gonna happen, but I'm still waiting on that MK vs DC DLC. **sigh

every single game they come up with new mechanics, everyone loves them, so the next game they remove them and come up with something totally new!

god dam it, just create a formula and stick to it!
look at uncharted and KZ, you dont see them taking everything, chucking it in the bin!
a sequel is suppose to be exactly a sequel, not a new IP!
your suppose to take everything people like and improve on it, take everything people did not like and either remove it or improve it, then maybe add a new thing or 2 in.
not take everything, chuck it in the bin, and start again!

The same exact things piss me off as well..They always take something out and put something different into the game in every single MK.
You're right in regards to Resistance as well. Like the saying goes "If it aint broke, don't fix it." They can add features to the game but don't mess up what worked in the first place.

probably deception.
actually a sequel to deception with all the mechanics, game modes, conquest mode, everything from deception, but then all the game modes of the new reboot like test your sight, might, strength, and the new tower selection, mixed with the strength tests and falling sequences of MKVDC universe.
a mash up of all the games on current systems, with the backbone of the best MK ever released!
now that would make the perfect mortal kombat game!
then of course get to work on that fire and ice game………….

Man you're right on the money. Deception truly built upon Deadly Alliance..I can't remember though if Deception was the one were they took away one of your fighting styles..Think that was Armageddon though..
Armageddon would've been even better had they not took some of the fighting styles out. Yet they gave us air combos…
Ahh mortal kombat
The only fighting game were the A.I cheats.
For instance just before a round starts & you quickly tap the d-pad in a direction or hold block and hey…the a.i uppercuts,throws a projectile or just grapples you straight away.
In the arcade days it was all about getting the next person to put his money in so the cheating a.i was almost forgiven but on a console….no thanks netherrealm,make a game that doesn't forking CHEAT!!!!
MK came back and downright wiped the floor with the competition. I like me some fighters and thought Tekken 6 was going to challenge SSFIV..but it didn't..MK comes along and shows you how a fighting game is supposed to be done. This was a reboot done right which was a big relief.
The next MK may have to raise the bar b/c SF X Tekken looks like a hell of a game judging off the gameplay seen thus far…
3 million sold huh? That's a good number.

it's about 1.3 million on ps3 and a lil under a million on 360.

Excellent! Man I used to buy every MK game on the brand alone, but I broke that tradition with the whole MK vs DC debacle… what were they thinking?
I'm so glad they did this reboot so well. It's loaded with all kinds of badassery! And the sales figures are reflecting it.
Warner Brothers have popped up and really done well for themseleves, all the games like Batman and Mortal Kombat have given them a better reputation.
