At any rate, it seems Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is set to re-release Quantic Dream's masterful Heavy Rain . No, it isn't a Game of the Year Edition; according to Siliconera , it's Heavy Rain Edition Modifiée, and it comes with a PEGI rating of 16. The original version launched with the PEGI 18 rating (similar to the ESRB's "M"-Mature rating). We don't know what they cut from the less intense version, but it does appear as if the level of violence has been scaled back. Maybe that scene with the crazed doctor isn't so frightening, and maybe cutting off your finger isn't part of the game, anymore. Who knows?
We just wonder if this version is actually necessary, and what prompted SCEE to create it. If you take away some of that violent intensity, this game loses some of its edge…
