Ubisoft On Future Of Assassin’s Creed And Expanding The Brand

The Assassin's Creed franchise has become one of the most popular and critically acclaimed of the generation.

And that's why everyone wants to know about the upcoming new installment, Revelations . At Comic-Con , Ubisoft writer Darby McDevitt first confirmed that they intend to release Assassin's Creed III at some point, although he offered no further details. For Revelations , set to launch this November, he said fans can expect "better integration of the Brotherhood with more opportunities to do specific things with them." Also, the way we meet and recruit those members will be different; it was basically the same each time in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood . The Animus will also be changed a bit in Revelations (because the main character, Desmond, is changing), so that ought to be interesting.

Also, transmedia producer Louis-Pierre Pharand spoke about "Assassin's Creed: Embers," which is a 21-minute animated short film that follows Ezio in his later years. Ubisoft is looking to expand the brand even further with this project, as they wish to "improve their asset pipeline." As far as we're concerned, just about anything related to AC gets our attention, and we'd love to know what they have planned for ACIII…we're finally going to need some new characters, Ubisoft.

I think the AC series is one of the coolest around. I really like what I'm reading about concerning the expanded assassin recruiting and leveling components. I enjoyed the implementation of them in BH but I felt they were a little half baked, or that is, it caused me to think, "hey, wow, they could really flesh this stuff out and possibly create something incredibly awesome"

I agree, they keep promising that Ezio's story is over but it keeps extending into the squeeze machine. I couldn't get any money for ACII so maybe if I get time I'll have to give it that old college try once more.

AC didn;t catch me at first either. In fact, I played through all of AC2 and didn't quite catch the fever. I liked it well enough. It did take some getting used to having playing so much Infamous before hand. Being used to Cole's speed made Ezio's more momentum based physics harder to get used to. But like any good stealth action game, mastery of the detailed controls really pays off. And that's when the real fun of AC comes to play. Because few games give a player as much direct control over their immediate abilities to control their surroundings as stealth games do.

Doesn't surprise me, World. I saw the Greatest Hits edition of AC2 at Best Buy new for $9.99

The only thing I'm looking forward to more than the conclusion of ezio's story is finding out what happened to lucy, and what desmonds gonna do.

I won't be getting this game d1, but I will buy it eventually.

That's what I'm anticipating from the continued story as well. Had me gripped at the end of Brotherhood.

I love this series but do want it to end eventually too. Not many people can tolerate a lengthy saga.

I love that they are expanding things and as much as I would love love love a movie…please don't. They always fail.

As for the shorts and the comics and books, keep it rocking. I buy whatever I can get for AC.

Oh for the love of Heaven, I just found out the hard way these bastards lock their saves. Bollocks.

It's good to know that they're interested in expanding the series. It's well worth it, even though I'm yet to play beyond the first game. A friend and I were discussing the possibilities of the actor, but couldn't decide on anyone, and the whole idea really went out the window when he suggested Shia LaBoofHead for Altair.

Anyway, anyone else think that his assertions of ACIII coming out 'eventually' means that it won't be out next year, and that will be yet another spin-off iteration, this time focussing on the Wii-U capabilities, though allowing control off a new character. Maybe a true spin off that'll have you with a new modern assassin, before returning to Desmond for ACIII. Hmm…

I think this is where I draw the line, I have found the series to be good so far, but I don't want to have AC as another form of media. It's expanding too far out for its own good.

You don't want it as another form of media, yet it's already been a comic book, three novels, several graphics novels, a youtube three-part movie, and two animated shorts, if you include this Embers…

Doesn't get much more multimedia than that.

Well I did not know there wa THAT much baggage surrounding the series. I have yet to even playthrough Brotherhood to be honest. But When I find that a series expands to other media formats it become a chore to keep up with it then fun. I don't care if comic books are the latest phase, I find them to be poor form of story telling.

only 3 requests.
1 FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REMOVE THE GOD DAM STEALTH LEVELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS ASSASSINS CREED, NOT SPLINTER CELL!
2 dont change it too much, again THIS IS NOT SPLINTER CELL!
3 can we have a little more depth in the story?
AC1 and 2 had such deep fantastic stories with fantastic deep complex plots.
ACB was this was stolen, go get it back.
wow, emmy award winning material that is!

I loved the Leonardo stealth missions.

its not just the leo missions, almost every single freaking level in the game is a if your seen you fail mission!
the games more stealth then splinter cell conviction!

1 there seriously annying because of the way the levels are designed, its almost impossible to not be seen!
2 its completley stupid!
they spent all that time creating one kick a$$ combat system, then all you get to use is the assassins blade for stealth kills.
its like doom not letting you use the BFG!
or RFA not letting you use the magnet gun!
i wish they would go back to the combat system in the original assassins creed.
it was so timing focoused, it really reminded me of ninja gaiden.
now its just a button masher!

Wait… so are you saying it's a button masher, or you can only use the stealth blade?

I dunno man… it sounds like you just aren't any good at the game.

Also, there are a couple, but hardly any of the missions end if you are seen. And even those ones, I find particularly easy anyways. If you have that much trouble being seen all the time… perhaps you should… you know… be stealthy.

I mean, come on man… you're biggest complaints are about how the game is SUPPOSED to be. There are SO SO SO many resources at your disposal to remain unseen, it should NOT be that big of a challenge. As for the fighting, I think there's a great mix of beating up a group of enemies as well as stealth.

I'm not sure an assassin is supposed to be the kind that sprints everywhere swinging swords at everything.

EDIT: PS… the reason I said you were cute is because you demanded they remove the stealth levels because it's not splinter cell… then you said don't change anything because it's not splinter cell. You just like to gripe, I think.

As for story depth, I think there's more than enough there for an action/adventure game. Chances are with your frustration levels, you probably just haven't beaten any of the games.
