As reported by GamerZines , GTAV has popped up at Gamestation, which is part of the UK's largest game retailer, the GAME Group. The listing has since been removed but they have a picture of a pre-order receipt; you can't pre-order games until the retailer has a date in the system. Of course, those dates are often placeholders simply for the sake of accumulating as many pre-orders as possible, but still…
The game has apparently shown up at other retailers as well; it was briefly on GameStop's Germany branch with a January 15, 2012 release, but that too is now gone. Right now, analysts are saying GTAV should be here during the first quarter of next year, and let's remember that GTAIV launched in April of 2008. Many fans will say we're overdue for the GTAV announcement. But can you imagine if Rockstar dropped a bomb and released it in December, or something?
Just announce the game already, for the love of Heaven there is no need to hide this game. Let's have a look, it can't be much more than a year away and there are is no chance of stealing headlines away from other Rockstar games as they are all out now.

This scheme of Rockstar's to generate massive hype is working too freaking well… I want to know what they have up their sleeve in terms of story, gameplay, and the setting. Hope it's something great.
all this speculation is killing me GTA is my number 1 franchise. this is unlike R* when it comes to GTA. 3 years & 3 months sense IV & not a peep on V. it was 3 year & 6 month gap between SA & IV but we knew about IV in like mid 2007. i don't know but i'm sure they've got something big planned. lets just hear something already because i can't take this much more!!

i would love to see a GTA3 HD remake this october to celebrate the 10th anniversary.

yes i agree considering GTA3 is my 2nd favorite game of all time san andreas is my 4th & vice city my 5th but i'd be willing to settle on just 3 if it ment having it for the 10th anniversary. nobody seems to be saying anything about that but i think its pretty important anniversary

NO! If there's a single series that does not need a HD collection, it's GTA. Why, you ask? Rockstar have moved on. We are not in the GTA3 era anymore. Moreover, IV was such a hige departure in terms of tone and storytelling that to return to what was in the previous era would be a mistake. On top of that, it would be far from indicative of a newer project, and would only serve to make people remember the fun of those earlier titles, which would inevitably lead to negative comparisons for the new one.
I don't think it's as big a departure as you say. Besides, those games are great and they deserve it.
I agree that they deserve it, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on the merits of GTA IV.

1 R* still has agent and max payne 3 to release, you really think there going to announce and release this before they release games that have been announced for years?
2 R* has always announced GTA fairly early, and had a lengthy development cycle with often lengthy delays.
3 theres always been spin offs in between each full iteration, so the next GTA wont be GTAV.
4 R* north the guys who have always done the GTA games are doing agent now.
agent is not due out till late next year, IF THAT!
so there going to put a game that they have been working on for years on hold for a game they have not announced yet?

BUT… what if what we know about AGENT is wrong, and it's much further into development than we know, and it's announced at the GTA: Next announcement to be coming in May 2012, with Max Payne coming in December of this year. It would leave R* primed to take holiday 2012 with GTA, then also leave them free to release the next Midnight Club in 2013. It's plausible, no?

I work for Game, part of the Game group. Would just like to point out that you can still preorder games with a TBC date. As long as the game has been announced you can preorder it.
Also, occasionally we do get insider information on unannounced games. So thia cpuld be legit.

December would be stupid, many people would be too rinsed out to get this after all the other big titles come november/december
Rockstar seems to love teasing us gamers. I hope they're preparing a huge reveal for us.
