We love Portal 2 and we're happy to see it succeed.
According to Joystiq , Valve boss Gabe Newell confirmed at Games for Change in New York City that his recent award-winner (oh come in, it's guaranteed to win some) has sold over 3 million copies since its April release. He didn't mention platforms but it's likely that he's referring to the total sales across all platforms; PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. If you're wondering, the first Portal sold 4 million total copies, although that number doesn't count Steam downloads. We always like to see masterpieces in the interactive entertainment realm do well; it proves that there's still a very large audience that appreciates fresh, challenging titles. You've played Portal 2 by now, right?
Now, about Portal 3 …we just hope it won't take too long.

Valve loves them some Nintendo Wii U 🙂 Glad to see Portal 2 doing great numbers, and with awards not too far in the horizon, Valve/Portal will have a stronger following on their next title release. Rock On.
What a tremendous piece of art they constructed! Portal 2 was a fantastic mind food in every way. There is not one negative to this game. Well, maybe the most glaring negative of all is that it ended! The source engine did a great job on this title and seems like a very experienced and welcome friend. A very long SP campaign and a very long COOP campaign screams longevity and replayability. Valve has always been my favorite developer ever since I started Half-Life on the PC at 6pm and solved it by 7am the next morning playing through the night. Portal 2 is a platinum I am very proud of. These selling figures do not surprise me in the least. Nice job Valve, keep up the good work!

Fantastic mind food -> That's exactly it. It just feels so good to use my head for a change. 😀

That's all? Not my thing but people really love it. I'm sure the sales on PS3 took a huge slam since it released alongside the downed network. Most of those folks probably went on to get used copies too. I wouldn't hold my breath for Portal 3 though, PC devs must have 2 or 3 guys on their team because I could reach Mars in a space ship built out of potato chip bags in the time it takes them to make games.
World, your seriously missing out. It's effing brilliant Give it a shot at least
I'm sure it's good but I'm not much for puzzles, maybe when it's super cheap.
Not my thing either World… but I appreciate what Portal 2 has achieved. It can only be good for gaming innovation…

Valve deserves the sales for Portal 2. A masterpiece executed almost flawlessly and down right funny!! My best friend and I play co-op and imitate Wheatleys hilarious delivery every chance we get. Lol It's seriously the best co-op since Demon Souls
BTW..I need the friends list with benefits trophy in order for me to get the platinum in this game. Add me, psn id same as here
http://www.ps3trophies.org is your friend! Go here if you want to boost trophies. Look for the Portal 2 boosting thread. I would help you out but I am hitting Read Dead Redemption very hard right now trying to get my Platinum. 3x Experience is 6/24/11 from 3-6pm cst. I have limited time online since I am a Dad.
Still need to pick up my copy sometime soon. It one of those rare games maybe the only one where the ps3 one was actually better then the 360 version technically. Usually the ps3 versions tend to be the inferior versions in multi-platforms but in this games the tables are turned.
Way to go Valve for making an awesome game!!!!!
No, it's not the only one. I know. I pay close attention to those details.
And yes, Portal 2 on PS3 has more than one significant advantage over the 360 version.

Do you know any other games??
PortaL 2 IS the only one that I think is better then the 360 version.,
I still need to finish the first game before I move on to Portal 2. Perhaps by then it could be had for $20 new.
It's great seeing the sequel's success. I hope Valve continues to do well as I'm extremely eager for a full fledged sequel to Half Life 2.
A MASSIVE +1!!!
not bad 2M units in 2 months for a puzzle game.
hopefully this will give them the funds they need to create a new engine, and get working on HL3 or at least HL2E3.
i mean come on, how longs it been since we heard something HL related?
FAR too long!
Perhaps Valve will reveal something about HL3 at GamesCom in August.
Portal 2 was just excellent. Not to mention that I got it for $35. Gosh, I still need to go and play the co-op.
Regardless, Portal 2 is excellent. A very welcomed change of pace from shooting and killing, I am proud to be part of the 3 million and I suggest you become the same!
If they make a new Portal, Cave Johnson needs to be in it with a bigger role. That character was hilarious!
"If you feel your heart suddenly stopping, that's not part of the test… That's asbestos."
3 million copies? Wow. That's a lot of holes in walls.
I'll probably get thumbed down for this but I bought it tried it kept it for about 2 weeks and traded it in. It simply wasn't my type of game. I liked the humour of it but just couldn't get to grips with the puzzles. So traded it in and got something else for cheap for trading it in got my money back too so no worries on that score.
It's very good no doubt. Still, the amount of load screens took me by surprise. I'd have thought for sure they could have done something about that.
Portal 2 was awesome! It seemed a little bit short, but I guess there are only so many puzzles you can throw in a game before it starts to get some what redundant.
Portal 2 better than LA Noire , or I2??? Madness! 🙂
