When we heard a Mirror's Edge sequel probably wouldn't happen, we were disappointed.
But not so fast; there's reason for hope. EA Games president Frank Gibeau told GameTrailers that they "haven't killed Mirror's Edge " and they do plan to pursue a follow-up effort.
"We're actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise. The DICE guys really created something I think special the first time around. You've got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one and that's what we're working on."
Better yet, let's not forget who made the first game: DICE. And that team has a bad-ass new engine in Frostbite 2, which is powering the great-looking Battlefield 3 . So when Gibeau was asked if Mirror's Edge 2 would utilize that same advanced engine, his reply was- "you'll see that combination, I'm sure."
Sweeeet. The first game was a little flawed but controlled beautifully and showed a ton of promise. And we can't wait to learn more about a sequel!
Never played the first one (but I want to) due to the avalanche of games I was involved with at the time.
I personally thought the same that the controls were a bit how do I say? ummm?… yeah but other than that the game was excellent. It looked pretty fantastic without the use of Dices FBT engine so imagine it with. I think the action sequences and some of the moves could definitely be tweaked a bit.
Only played the demo for the first game, but i'm kinda excited for this one
fan-fricken-tastic
Please, The best parts of Mirror's Edge were the chase sequences that had you running from those super runner cops. Why wasn't that part of the game included in the multiplayer? A kick ass game of tag or something would have been fun. Let's hope they incorporate those types of game elements into the sequel. Hooray Parkour.
I wish other devs could use Frostbite 2….then maybe we would have alot more phenomenal games out there.
BF3 was looking amazing at E3.
Liked the first game, can't say that I loved it. It had way too many niggly little flaws for that, but it offered a solid foundation. In that respect, I'd compare it to AC in what could be done with the franchise.
And throwing Frostbite 2 into the mix… Cool, though the ANT animation system of Battlefield is a necessity.
Peace.
loved the first one was good because it was something new and i hadnt played anything like it! i heard the sales werent too great….i must have been one of the few to buy it when it was at full price
i preordered my copy of the first game and got that messenger bag with it for free. that has been very useful as it fits the fat ps3 inside of it easily with controllers and games. i thought they had cancelled this game but i am glad to hear there will be a 2nd. next time around it would be cool if they went a little more real and a little less cartoony.
I didn't think it was too cartoony, unless you mean the cut scenes, then yea, some CGI would be lovely.
I loved the first game, mainly because it was a bright and unique FPS compared to all the other dull COD imitators.
If they bring it back the right way, it could be awesomer.

DO WANT
oh ben, dont tease my like that!
nothing in the world i want more…….. well except a new crash bandicoot title of course.
😉
they should of announced this at there presser, everyone would of needed diapers if they did!
i mean come on, who does not love mirrors edge!?
how can you not love mirrors edge!?
That's awesome! I was so disappointed when I heard that they probably wouldn't do a 2nd Mirror's Edge cause I love parcour and the game is just unique and fun as hell.
Also using Frostbite 2.0 and adding some new things and taking it to its full potential would make it a top notch title. One I would easily pay full price for; something I only do for the best of the best.
