Konami has been forced to delay Silent Hill: Downpour for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It's the latest iteration in the creepy long-running series and instead of an estimated fall release, it'll now launch in the winter season.
But in more positive news, they announced Silent Hill: Book of Memories for Sony's fancy new portable, which may or may not be called the PlayStation Vita. We don't know much about this handheld Silent Hill project but producer Tom Hulett said it would take "the franchise places its never been before." …I guess it all depends on how you interpret that statement.
And last but not least, it's yet another high-definition collection. After revealing the HD Collections for Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders , Konami revealed the Silent Hill Collection . This features HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 , which originally released on the PS2. We don't know when it will arrive just yet, but it's enough to know it's coming, yes?

Disappointed Downpour got delayed, excited for Book of Memories, though can't be sure if I'll be able to get the new handheld as soon as I'd like, and I like the idea of the HD collection. My only question regarding the collection is this: Why not 4? I already own 2 and 3; 1 is a PS1 game, so it might be too much work to update it, but I don't have 4 yet. I suppose I won't be getting the collection then.

Hmmmm a bit concerning with the delay… The NGP title better have a stronger link to the series than the look of Downpour because something needs to gain my interest.
As for the HD re-release… meh I have a BC PS3 and SH games work and look great anyway.

Shame about Silent Hill 4 The Room not getting the HD treatment but i can live with that.
Sh3 in HD = personal heaven.
SH3 will look beautiful in HD, It already looks ahead of its time just upscaled on the PS3's Backwards compatibility. If they do a good job I may even consider getting it even though my PS3 can play both games 🙂
Hmm… I thought it was popular for these compilations to have more than two games, unless that's all that's been released. Then again, 2 and 3 were the most well received, so it makes sense for them to be the ones to get the HD treatment. I suppose the Classics HD set will release shortly before Downpour to build anticipation for it, and although I already have SH3 for PS2, I didn't manage to play it for very long, so I'll definitely be picking this up.

Awesome ! Silent hill 2 still ranks in my top 5 games of all time and I cant wait for an HD update to blast through. Bit bummed about Downpour being pushed back though 🙁
Book of Memories is a reference to Silent Hill 2, right?
