Resistance 3 inches ever closer and we know you're excited.
Hardcore fans of the franchise will undoubtedly want to spring for something special and in this case, that means choosing between one of two packages. SCEA has announced a couple of collector's editions for Insomniac's anticipated FPS:
The first is the Special Edition and will feature all the pre-order DLC (and there's a lot of it), a "vinyl effect" Blu-Ray disc, and a nifty steelbook case. But if you're willing to take the next step, you could pony up the cash for the Survival Edition, which boasts the items above along with a canvas satchel, a Chimera target poster, toy soldiers of humans and Chimera, a hip flask, and playing cards. No word yet on prices or region availability.
Also, if you check the PlayStation Blog , you can examine the retailer-specific pre-order bonuses. GameStop will give you a necklace comprised of Chimeran teeth plus a boost to Level 5 in multiplayer, Wal-Mart is offering five custom multiplayer titles, pre-ordering at Amazon will net you the Air Fuel Grenade for the story Mode, and Best Buy will give you the "viral inhibitor" character model.
Resistance 3 is slated to arrive on September 6.

I sprung for the SE of Resistance 2 in 2008; I'll probably do the same on September 6. I have to see what the prices will be. Hopefully $99 for the Survival Edition.
I am really digging the cover of R3. The red and white contrast looks very classy!!
This will be mine !! Really liking the box art and thank you sony for down sizing that move logo. It was just ugly before and got on my nerves!
This looks like the EU Box honestly, as I can agree Agent_47 I detest how big the "Move Compatible" sign is on the US PS3 boxes.
Definitely interested in the Survival Edition, then again I am a sucker for Steelbook cases, that is why I was the only one to get MvC3's LE at its Midnight launch.
Nathan Hale skin, enough said.
Also that cover art is really sexy.
I really do like the 'vinyl effect' of the BD disc. Steelbook case, a canvas satchel, and a hip flask…sigh…looks like I'm springing for the Survival Ed. Insomniac is worth it.
The case was what got reading this, looks coolio.
Added to the list
Modeling a blu-ray disc to look like a vinyl record. Now that's a surprisingly cool idea. Too bad the makers of Bioshock didn't think of it.

i've seen it done before on cds. for example the queens of the stone age single "make it wit chu" was on a disc that looked like an old school vinyl
There's a bunch of CDs that's had this look, amongst them most Elvis CDs in the "FTD" series have this style of label on top. But yeah, BioShock should definitely have done the same!
I'd love the Survival Edition, if there were no toys in it or the poster. Considering that I won't be able to get the DLC anyway, I don't think that the Special Edition will be worth it for me either, although I'd love both the steelbook and the trippy disc. Ah well, Insomniac is getting my money for this title anyway.
Love the retro look.
MINE!!!!
I like the cover art, although it will wind up ruining the look of my shelf's PS3 collection(that's why I've always hated those differently colored "greatest hits" boxes & labeled covers in all of my Playstation & Xbox collections).
Anyway, I really like that LP look that they've done to their disc.
Maybe for R4, they can do the next BR done up as one of the old vinyl collectable picture discs too(I've got a bunch of them in my LP collections too, including all 4 picture discs of KISS, w/ each disc having a separate face of each member).

I gotta say, whoever came up with the idea to make the BD disc look like a vinyl disc needs to get a pay raise. Its just a crazy awesome idea.
As for which one of these I'll buy, I don't really need the toys, so I'll probably end up with the normal special edition.
Am I the only one who does not like the box art design? Yes it is nice on its own, but it does not suit the match or even go well with the previous games box art.
little late they showed these off weeks ago!
anyway, im a little disappointed with these editions.
sony normally comes out with decent collectors editions, albeit ludicrously expensive.
but neither of those really interest me.
wheres the art book?
what happened to the good old days where LEs came with a tour and look into how the game was made?
i remember watching think it was 3 hours of behind the scenes footage of MGS4 showing off all the interviews, meetings the devs had.
even the ones for GOW1 and 2 were freaking sweet!
why have they disappeared?
would love to see one for R3!
So now you're complaining about this special edition even though its exclusive to the EU? Grow up.
