MW3 Trailer All Gameplay, 60FPS, Multiplayer Details?

Now that the debut trailer has arrived, the extra details are already starting to roll in.

Infinity Ward boss Robert Bowling has been talking over at his Twitter page , where it seems he's answering some fan questions. Firstly, he confirms that what we see in that trailer is gameplay: "…every second of that was taken from playable moments in the game." Secondly, he says the game is locked at 60 frames per second and never wavers: "Absolutely, locked at 60 Frames Per Second. That is a core design principle for us…"

Plus, the multiplayer rumors are already starting to fly. Most are coming from an unnamed source who spoke to A Gaming Site . This source says the official details will be revealed "in the coming weeks" but for now, we know the game will feature CoD points, but in a "redesigned and refocused way." Then there's this bit- "single player has a very multiplayer feel to it, with some interesting ideas to it."

In addition, we can expect many more maps, modes and game types, although that wouldn't be too shocking. Those seeking a fantastic single-player experience will want that previous quote explained, though…

I'm not neccesarily in it for the single player, but there's nothing that they could do that would make it worse than Battlefield: Bad Company 2's story.

they could add one to begin with

In BFBC2 they took away all of the aspects that made the first one so great and then tacked on a story that only a drug addict would feel was remotely reasonable or interesting for that matter.

Are you crazy? There were so many parts in BFBC2 that were amazing and creative. I liked the blizzard part were you would have to make your own heat. In cod all you do is shoot a couple people, move on, rinse and repeat.

Yeah… That part was SOO great <sarcasm>. Run down a hill and somehow almost freezing to death in about 20 seconds and completely thawing instantly was just stupid. All of the comedy from the first was gone. I couldn't wait to trade it in for $40.

ur loss, you traded in one of the better fps multiplayer games out there. Story wasn't great but lets not act like it was any better than the first game. The humor in the first was flat and lame.

There's a chance I could have kept it if the huge .50 caliber snipers that had to be zoomed out before firing again were one-shot kills. Or if the semi-auto one was less than four shots. Plus I didn't like being annoyingly shot off aim by shotguns a 1/4 mile away.

i tend to always start and stick to hardcore options on shooters, bfbc2 and cod games. So yeah, most of my sniper shots are 1 hit kills. but on normal play i can see that being an issue. Then again, that 50 cal was a 2 hitter on MW1 on normal as well

With the shotgun kills, only way that you can get killed from a rather long distance with it is if they are using slugs on it with magnum ammo. Getting killed by one isn't fun, sure

I wasn't getting killed by the shotguns but the shots would throw off my aim entirely. But the only major abusers of the ridiculous range were computer players in the campaign.

i'm sorry but sniping in battlefield actually requires some skill instead of the point and shoot in call of duty games. even with bullet dip, most of my sniper rifle shots kill in one hit, even when i snipe from the top of the mountain on top of nelson bay till all the way to the last rush objective all the way in the back.

I thought the trailer was very awesome. I'll be playing this one for sure.
I like that they've stuck to their 60fps resolve.
I'm skeptical of his "unwavering" claim with that. But, hey, I like that it's a topic they're attentive to.

I really love the MW games. I think they offer something real special by bringing the war right into our time and settings. It doesn't feel like I'm playing pages from some history book. Instead, a virtual recreation of what our everyday places could look like in the event of warfare of this scale.

I think they can make it unwavering just because of an experience I had with my desktop PC. While playing one of my games on lowest settings it sat firm at 60fps. At highest settings, also 60fps. I was kind of surprised with that.

I agree with you completely about the setting. While Call of Duty is not known for realism, the modern setting simply makes the entire environments look and feel realistic. They also add some very important things such as great character models as well as the best gun modelling I have ever seen.

Damn! A multiplayer feel about single player!?!? If I want to play multiplayer, I'll play multiplayer, thank you very much!

The single player campaign should have a story and adaptive role in it, making you feel like you are in the boots of a soldier. A multiplayer feel suggests fast and frantic gameplay, which is not what I'm after.

I could be mistaken. There had better be a good explanation behind this statement!! Single player and split-screen multiplayer was what I loved about CoD in the first place!!

I agree, I loved the look of that BF3 gameplay trailer. I'll give both this and BF3 a play and decide for myself which one is perhaps worth a purchase or if either of them even are.

Damn, I don't know if the currency system from Black Ops will be all that great for Modern Warfare 3. I don't think I will like it.

Getting a camo by acquiring certain amount of headshots gave the camo so much more prestige. In Black Ops, you can easily buy any camo (except for Gold) and slap it on any gun for cheap. This cheapens the game's multiplayer, in my opinion.

This will be like all the rest. it will be limited to under 7gigs because of the Xbox so it never will break out and be a great game, like it should. I love all of the COD's but they could have been so much more if they were say 20gigs or something like that. What could have been but never will be.

Well I guess I'm talking to people who enjoy the likes of Uncharted with it's clunky combat, lackluster story, and platforming that can be laughed at by the likes of Assassin's Creed, Infamous, or straight up Super Mario Bros.

This place is dominated by a certain set of opinions, and as one that often found myself on the opposite side of those opinions I tell you: Nevermind the thumbs and just keep going. As long as you avoid the temptation of going nuts now and then (I know I have given in to that a few times) you'll be fine. And eventually respected, too. Just never agreed on. 😉

Lawless SXE

Implying, of course, that the members here couldn't (and haven't) pick the flaws of CoD clean. The, at best, average plot and p*ss-poor storytelling. The pathetic focus on and pandering to the online crowd. Weak graphics, endless spawn points over tactically and intelligently positioned enemies. No real sense of conclusion in the games.

Of course if you like the gameplay of CoD, you'll find the combat of UC clunky. But the same would stand true of any TPS in comparison to an FPS. The platforming is more limited than AC or inFamous because Drake is not a ninja. He's an everyman, so he can really only perform actions that the average person can do, and that makes it more than forgivable… sensible. And to even think of comparing it to Mario is ridiculous. Mario is about nothing BUT the platforming. When you have a single focus, and manage to pull it off to near perfection, as Nintendo tends to do, of course nothing else is going to stack up.

And saying that the story of UC is lacklustre. I'm sorry, you just lost ALL credibility. It takes mastery of the craft of writing to bring together the elements of Uncharted in such a cohesive form. Mythology blending with history. Brilliantly defined, if slightly cliched, characters that each have their own distinct personalities. The flow and pacing of the tales, and making the supernatural elements seem almost believable.

We're all entitled to our own opinions, but drawing that kind of conclusion against Uncharted is blasphemy!
Peace.

P.S. Beamboom, I've agreed with some of your points, and I most definitely respect you. You consistently speak with intelligence and rationality: two things that I hold in the highest regard. If no-one else does, at least I like ya. 😀

Oh, and random, before you decide to start on me for hating on CoD, I'd advise you to take a look at my User Review and to pay particular attention to the addendum that I added in the comments. I think that it should satisfactorily elucidate my intense disinterest in this series, if not my dislike.

@Beamboom
I most definitely also respect you as well, and I think it's no secret we've disagreed before. 😉 As for getting heated, my biggest problem is that I enjoy conflict which often causes me to come off far stronger than I intend. lol My wife has forbidden me to engage in debates on facebook for all her family to see. lol

@Somethingrandom
The problem is Uncharted is heralded as one of the greatest this generation. And when other developers point it out as inspiration and as something to be respected, I'm pretty certain it's much better than you perceive.

I'm with Lawless, though. CoD, while fun and inclusive, is nowhere near the quality of a game like Uncharted. And it's CHALKED full of flaws. I also wrote a user review for both MW2 and BO (both I platinumed as well, so you can't pretend I didn't spend enough time with it to "get it"). I think my outlook is very fair and gives it a just review.

Only Trophies included with the core games are required for Platinum. Anything extraneous only affects the % total of your listing.

@Lawless
In uncharted 2, the story seemed like a bad movie I've seen before but I couldn't remember which one. The story in MGS4 was INFINITELY better.
I'm not an Uncharted hater, I just don't understand why people go so crazy for it.

@Underdog15
Every second of uncharted 2 felt like a chore and I was only playing to see the ending. I've played much better controlling TPS's such as army of two and gears of war.

@AlexanderTH3GR8
Modern Warfare 2 does not have any trophies that require online play. Black Ops is a different story because it sucks.

I know its just one person's opinion, but Army of 2 and Gears of War series (the main reason i got a 360 back when it came out) are pretty damn clunky compared to UC2. You can hate the story for whatever reason you want, but to say its more clunky than gears is false. The roadie run oozes clunky

Alex,
In that case, I haven't the slightest idea. Unless those map trophies were patched in post release, which seems more likely to me, otherwise it is simply taking advantage of the trophy hunters out there.

random,
'a bad movie I've seen before'? Hmm… El Dorado, Shambala, not really ringing any bells to me. And the story of MGS4 was the conclusion of over twenty years of work, of course it was better. Kojima pulled out all the stops to make sure that he wouldn't be topped. However, aside from that, Heavy Rain and a couple of RPGs, I know of no other game that can touch UC in terms of plot.

A chore? And then you name GeoW and Army of Two as examples of better controlling games? now if you'd said Vanquish I may have agreed with you but… no.

Prototype vs. inFamous is entirely up for debate. They're too very different games, despite the superficial similarities that seems to be all that people focus on. inFamous is more my bread and butter though.
Peace.

I wasn't asking about trophies for online play, I was asking if u can still platinum a game like W@W without buying DLC content. Oh well I found the answer I was looking for anyways.

And you wonder why people here don't like you somethingrandom. When you spit in everyone's faces and just completely sh*t all over a game that consistently gets high reviews and has a very dedicated fanbase, yeah, you're gonna be talking to some angry people. Especially when you give reasons for your opinion that are, to be completely honest with you, kinda screwed up.

@somethingrandom
i'm all for having your own opinion but trying to convince others about uncharted, of all games, using pretty weak examples, its not gonna happen. uncharted 2 control is clunky then site army of two and gears are better. I'm sorry, i played all 3 and uncharted is miles above those 2. as for the story, i never once felt that uncharted 2 was a chore. i was so focused on the story and environment. i cant say that about any other game, other than legend of zelda, rpgs, and metal gear solid where story is a big part.

Making the single player feel like the multiplayer? Pfft… Congratulations. You just killed ANY chance that I had of picking this one up.
