It did seem like L.A. Noire was selling quickly yesterday, and the critics are suitably impressed.
Therefore it should come as no surprise that publisher Rockstar's stock has soared to a 52-week high on the strength of the detective thriller's launch. At close of trading, shares had risen $1.23 to $17.10, an 8% leap, and it'll be interesting to see how well the game fares in relation to past Rockstar productions. With the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption on their slate, this is one company that's used to blockbuster releases and skyrocketing share prices. There was a time when Rockstar really had to rely on GTA for its big payday but things have changed this generation, and that's good news. Have you picked up L.A. Noire and if so, is it worthy of the attention?
You'll see our review in 24 hours time. For now, we remain tight-lipped on the analysis…

The game is awesome, but I try to play less and savor the awesomeness. I typically solve one-two cases per day.
the beat cop section was so brief, but maybe thats good
Ha I'm doing the same thing I dont want it to end too quickly, I haven't heard anything about the length but I think we can expect a lot of playtime out of a sandbox game with no multiplayer. I hope they dont dlc us to death. There's no telling what they had to cut to fit it on 3 dvd's.
Godslim…doing the same thing. Three cases a day with side missions and KZ3/Transformers War for Cybertron MP if I want some more gaming before the days over.
Ok guys, you gotta read this. It is HILARIOUS

Picking up my copy in 2 hours! So excited!
*high pitch screams*
Received a confirmation email saying my copy has been shipped. It shall be my reward for finishing the semester.
That's one hell of a reward. Though being content with getting through isn't enough? Most of the people that I know that went to uni dropped out in the first year (I'm assuming that you ARE in college/uni).

@ Lawless yeah in Uni, 2nd year. Haha yeah getting through usually is enough but it's always at the expense of giving up gaming time so this should make up for it.
There's definitely an addictive quality to case solving. Can't wait to get back into it tonight.
I'm getting my copy on the wknd…we'll also get Ben's review by then
I've played a few hours and I like it so far, I like how the Noire theme is there but it isn't forced on you. I don't like how hard it is to find my car on the map (bad color choice lol). The detective part is awesome, I like their system for looking for clues and piecing together evidence and interrogating people.
They make it fun to be a cop instead of making you into an action hero because they seem to be taking a more realistic route. Props to Team Bondi even _________ should like this game the devs are from the land down under after all.
Ha! That won't help him. Didn't you catch him raving about what he didn't like based on the reviews he's read yesterday?
where did i say i did not like the game?
sigh, words getting put into my mouth yet again!
all i said was you cant effect the story, WTFs the point of that?
this game being so scripted is as pointfull as ferrari making a car with a top speed of 100KMPH and a price tag of 500 million dollars!
Ah, a slip of the memory. Disappointed was the word you used, not dislike. My mistake, and I apologise, although saying "that just destroys the game for me." Does sort of imply a dislike… just sayin'
it does destroy the game though.
its caused me to not care if i find all the clues or not, if i get all the right questions and answers, because, really it does not matter!
for example in the 3rd case i got 1 question right, missed 4 clues and still got 3 stars and a case closed!
you f*ck everything up, but still get a pass!
what the?
Good news for the company. Glad to see that there's buzz for them based on L.A. Noire. It really makes me hopeful that it will sell as well as I hope. Can't wait until I get home with my copy next Saturday.
Peace.
Step aside Heavy Rain, Noire's facial expressions are jaw dropping insane.

so shocked to see how popular this is!
i thought it would not sell well because its not your typical war game, and it has no MP.
nice to see developers who have the balls to stray away from the norm being rewarded!
went to pick up my copy today and was told they completley sold out 45 minutes after opening the store!
lucky i preordered mine a few months ago, otherwise id be waiting weeks to find it!
still really disappointed about the story, but eh cant wait to crack here open!
there is a report on cvg stating thatr r* is getting hundreds of reports of the game freezing and cuasing the ps3 to overheat. a r* service rep was trying to blame it on update 3.61 at first, but that comment was removed from r*'s site. what's the deal with that? i don't see how it can be a firmware update, but maybe he knows something i don't. sounds like bad discs or a game that needs patched.
I was going to post a note about that up in the forums once I'd been approved. I'll admit that I'm a bit worried about it now. I mean, hundreds is a small number in the grand scheme of things, but the problem seems to be centred on older consoles, which seems to be a rather common problem. I suppose there could be a correlation between older consoles, the firmware and the game data, but word is that L.A. Noire isn't the only game having this effect, just the most common (probably aided by its recent release). But hey, at least it's just overheating and not YL'ing.
Peace.
LA Noire, my GOTY so far.
