Tales Of Graces F Confirmed For US

Namco had a lot to talk about at their annual Level Up event, and that includes great news for role-playing fans.

The publisher has revealed that Tales of Graces F will come to the PlayStation 3 in North America. It's the latest title in the long-running and critically acclaimed Tales franchise, and will become the first PS3 installment to reach the US. During a war between three kingdoms competing for planetary dominance, Asbel Lhant and his friends will redefine the nature of comradeship and fight for what they believe. The game lets players "freely change attack style depending on the battle situation," and weapons can be switched out for different styles. Plus, the combat will be easier to control thanks to "new levels of tactical depth. For all you JRPG fans out there, you've been waiting for this, haven't you?

The only downside is that Tales of Graces F won't be ready to go until next year.

Next year? wow…they truly have no faith on their jrpgs anymore.

Anyway, will be getting this. Amazing how it took 3+ years to get a namco jrpg in the US.

YUS!

A little long of a wait, if you ask me, but it's coming.

Thank goodness!

No that's not the style of JRPG I've been waiting for, but I'll still get it. So what does the F stand for? "Fu*k it took a long time for Tales to come to the system it was meant for"?

Lol Probably.

Maybe…

"Forget about Vesperia PS3!"

Or…

"Forgive us for the for the year delay"

Or…

"F*$K Y'all! We treat or English speaking fans like crap but your still going to buy this!"

The F stands for "Future" XD It's the additional content made for the ps3, after finishing the game there's a future arc to play.

Yes! I saw something about this before, but thought it was common knowledge.

Finally, the JRPGs we should have been getting for the last 4 years are coming through.

Turn based jrpgs are coming too?

White Knight Chronicles 2…?

Not sure there are many real turn based JRPGs, but Tales qualifies as a JRPG regardless, as do others.

No word on a Euro release? And it seems that the PS3 may well get two Tales games in '12 with Xillia supposedly releasing then in Japan. Maybe if the support is strong enough in the West, they'll get their fingers out for the localisation process.
Peace.

EDIT: Never mind, it has been confirmed. Yay!

Still no Dragon Quest, but it'll do.

I needs me some next gen Dragon Quest!

I think DragonQuest X was announced for the Wii. Which is fine with me but it will inevitably disappoint some.

Well, since the super NES/ original NES, Dragon Quest began appearing on Sony consoles. Both 7 and 8 hit sony consoles in NA, even.

So yeah…

How was IX on the DS in comparison to VIII? I felt like I could expect it to be less in depth or more childlike of a storyline. How was the story in comparison?

The reason I ask is because VIII is my favorite turn-based RPG since Xenogears.

I really like DQIX but it's no DQVIII. DQVIII is one of those rare gems. Such a good game. I'm with you. I really only have three JRPGs's that I can call my favorite, FFVII, Chrono Trigger and DQVIII. The story is there in DQIX, it's just a bit more bite sized. There is less emphasis on the cast. DQVIII seemed to really focus on character development and getting the player to fall in love with them. DQIX…not so much. Still a good game though.

i read combat will be easier to control and i instantly got cautious about this game. i never played tales games but rpgs are always welcome to me this gen.

Day one for me! Not enough console JRPG's. Though the PSP has done a great job filling the void. It's turning out to be a JRPG's beast! FFIV FTW!

EDIT: Ben, any news on Ni No Kuni for PS3?

Are you effing kidding me? A year? You would think that they would have the whole localising thing down pat by now lol. In what? 50 years of video gaming, it still takes up to a year lol.

I have never played a Tales game, but I'm a rpg lover, so I'll definitely be interested for some more info on this game.

Curious if tales games are more the style of Final Fantasy or Ar Tonelico?

Tales of games are kind of in a realm of their own but have the open world map, NPC ineraction, side quest, money and experience earned after battle, exploration.

Its not turned-based but tales of games never have been and they have stayed traditionally closed to the battle mechanic of earlier tales games. Kinda like star ocean but with a relaxed feel.

The Wii and the PS2 have Tales of games here in the US which you could probably research if you're interested in playing some before Graces F gets here.

Oh yeah, the story is always there with these games.

If you're talking about the most recent Ar Tonelico game, then yes, it's similar. Except you're not limited to bursts of attacks. You can button mash your way to victory if you want =P Or if you set up the short cuts, you'll be able to use certain abilities in the middle of your combo. So, it's a mix of both Ar Tonelico 3 and FF, in that you can combo as much as you want but you can also select special skills/magic. So as shadowscorpio said, it feels like Star Ocean.

ANOTHER RPG!?
my lord, whats with all the market saturation?
almost got as many RPGs as we do shooters!
wish developers would stop milking the cow, and breed a new one.
dying for some new fresh platformers, horror and puzzle games!
portal 2 is good, but how many times can you play the same game!?

Finally a timeframe for the release of the game! But…it sucks is only next year…damn it, namco…I wanted to play this year.
I just hope they don't release it in the same week of a final fantasy game or other big releases like it happened with Abyss….

Well, that just gives you more time to platinum Ar Tonelico Qoga, WKC2 and Neptunia
