In L.A. Noire , we will traverse 1947 Los Angeles, a city full of charisma, intrigue, and yeah, a lot of violence.
The setting is perfect for an intellectual, in-depth detective thriller, where players must examine crime scenes, interrogate suspects, and follow up on leads. But what was 1947 really like for law enforcement? Well, for a bird's-eye view of the crimes plaguing the City of Angels 64 years ago, check out what Rockstar and the L.A. Times have dug up: it's the real Crime Map from that year; you can check out where actual crimes took place in the city, and what those crimes were. These were the inspiration behind the game and although none of them actually appear in the game itself, you can bet that most of the wrong-doings you'll have to solve have roots in reality. When it comes to a game like this, setting and atmosphere are essential.
Just in case you've been living under a rock, L.A. Noire releases on May 17. It's not long now!
Related Game(s): L.A. Noire
Some real crimes are in there though, like the Lipstick killer, that's gonna be cool to investigate. So stoked for this game I'm getting antsy. I better go double check that I got release date delivery.
Man oh man, if you thought Otacon & Snake in MGS4 made fun of the 360 using two discs, just wait till MGS 5, cause they are going to have one frigging hell of a field day on their codec's over this one……
MGS 5
Chapter one: Otacon's Revenge
Otacon: Snake…Snaaaaaaake. Have you heard that the other guys are using 3 discs for 1 game.
Snake: "!" What?
"!" "!" Are they still in 1991? "!" "!" "!"
Otacon: Well it's "MICROSOFT, so I'm sure they'll get their act together soon.
As a matter of fact Snake, rumor has it that M$ is going already planning to come out with a new dual-layered DVD in 2014.
(Overheard on codec): "!" dual snickering: "!"
"!" "!" "!" "!" "!"TEE HEE HEE "!" "!" "!' "!' "!"

How was that a reference to the 360 instead of the 2 disc Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 since the call takes place in Shadow Moses? Not sure how the fanpersons co-opted that one…
Isn't it kinda obvious PorkChop?
PorkChopGamer,
So sorry you didn't get their drift, Mr Obvious…. NOT!
LMAO

On May 17th, 360 gamers will have 3 discs to deal with to play this one =p
is that true?
Is it really or are you just being facetious? haha
EDIT: LOL! It is true. Disc swapping is soooooooooo 1997.

But…but…but…there's no difference between DVD and Blu-Ray. I mean, really. Let's be honest. MS would NEVER use an out-of-date format for its games.
Silly talk.

It's really going to be sad when the Wii2 has more capacity than 360.
Ha, right? Sometimes I think it was MS intent all along to hold this generation back in order to force slow progress because they're too cheap to fork out some cash to actually make some decent hardware. To busy spending it on bribing developers, gaming sites and advertisers.
Thats assuming xbots have the attention span necessary to truly enjoy a game like LA Noire
SERIOUS?! HA! Oh lordy, lord. Well… at least we know that Team Bondi really did lead development on the PS3. Now THAT is ammunition. But we all know that the 360'ers will crow about faster load times… idiots.
I wonder if there will be any references to the Black Dalia murder that took place in Los Angeles in 1943.
I think I read that there is supposed to be a case that is inspired by it.

There is a black Dalia case.
Nice.
dang, the crime map does'nt work on the ps3 webbrowser.
i hope i get my ps3 slim back by the time the game hits store shelves
Wonder if they add a case in my apartment?
I wish I could use LA Noire to solve the case of exactly who the USPS gorilla was that smashed up my PS3 beyond repair.
Just so I could go smash his face in the same way, when he gets off work.
3 Discs on 360!?!?! Bwa hahahaha!!!!
Seriously, when are people going to wake up and realise that DVD in gaming is holding the industry back? Nearly all games these days on PC and PS3 take up at least 12 GB.
As for LA Noire….
drooooooool……
I cannot wait for this game. Seriously! My patience is running thin! I wanna play this game so so so very much. The atmosphere, the setting, the gunfights, the intrigue, the open world, the interrogating sessions, piecing evidence together!!!
It's like Red Dead, GTA and Heavy Rain had a wild party one night and LA Noire was the golden child born of that wonderful party!!!
I'm just glad they opted for more discs and didn't cut down the game since they decided to make it multiplatform after all.
Haha! Still laughing about the three discs. Too good.
Oh, this game's gonna be epic! Just two weeks away, and I'll be picking this sucker up on Day 1. That gives me a fortnight to get through Sly 3 and inFamous. DAMN!
Peace.
Aww… I almost cried. IGN is nailing it lately, and I know it's off-topic, but this MUST be shared.

Lawless,
Nice catch, good article!
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cant wait to get this!
sucks im going to have to wait 2 weeks after release!
🙁
i hope they dont make it too hard to tell whos telling porkies or the truth, and i hope its not too punishing if you constantly get it wrong.
i mean last time i checked 99% of the people playing this wont be 20 year detective veterans!

i hope we get more "drama" games like this and heavy rain. imo too much action in gaming is bad….FUN but bad. i know u have ur puzzle, rpg , & some other but way more action then anything. this game is a good step foward for gaming.
I think that L.A Noire will be the most sold game of 2011
Wow! I just checked the LA crime map and I live close to the area where the GTA crime occurred. This is the same area where just last year a trunk was discovered to contain mummified babies wrapped around newspapers from the 1930s.
Can't wait for this game. That crime map only assures me that Team Bondi tried to make the environment and atmosphere for this game as immersive as possible.
