Well, Ezio is back.
Today, Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin's Creed: Revelations , the fourth entry in the critically-acclaimed and wildly popular franchise. The new project is led by Ubisoft Montreal and assisted by other studios under the publisher's umbrella, including Massive Entertainment, Annecy, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest. Boasting "the most immersive experience available in the series to date and the culmination of Ezio's adventure," the game is slated to arrive for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in November.
The well-known assassin looks to "walk in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation." Among Ezio's destinations are Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where the growing Templar threat is getting out of control. Online multiplayer, which debuted with last year's Brotherhood , will be "refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters." Perhaps most interesting is the "revolutionary gameplay," which lets players manipulate the construct of Desmond's memories and the Animus. We're not entirely sure what that means just yet, but it sounds like another level of freedom and choice…
The first three Assassin's Creed titles have combined to sell over 28 million copies worldwide and is now one of the best-selling franchises of the generation. We've always loved the games and we look forward to this year's installment with great enthusiasm.
GameInformer also announced they'll have a 12 page cover story for the game which will show everything you mentioned (in more detail, obviously), there will be new weapons and tools (screenshot looks like a grappling hook type attachment on the hidden blade), and also they reveal you will play as all 3 main characters (Desmond, Ezio, and Altair). I'm hoping this games yet another huge step up in the franchise like the last 2 were, although I'm not sure what they can do to achieve that (co-op would help).

Hey, I know people are scared of annual installments, but as far as I'm concerned, as long as it keeps getting better and better, I'm all for it.
Of course, I'm biased… Assassin's Creed is my favorite franchise this generation.
I agree with you 100% here. I hate annual games. They bring in maybe 1 or 2 additions to the previous game, change up the characters (or players for sports games) a little, then call it a new game.
However, the AC series has avoided being just a minor upgrade with the last game, and I'm confident this will be the same. Also for me, the story is what I love about it the most, and it helps that the gameplay is just as good. The constant historical tie-ins make this game a good way to learn some history (as long as you're smart enough to see what was changed for the game).
I think if they keep making with the epic settings then the game can stay fresh.
I'm with you too…I love AC and love that they don't waste time waiting two years to release a new version. AC2 was great, but Brotherhood blew me away. ACB story felt like the middle of a trilogy and of course now it all makes since…Ezio's Trilogy…which I don't mind at all.
While I was getting excited to take it to the streets and roof tops with Altair, I look forward to this, the most robust version yet.
I have yet to try AC:BH online. So I can't really tell as of yet if I'm excited for expanded multiplayer options.
Online should be amazing… but they NEED to fix the party problems and matchmaking. The actual gameplay is tops, as far as I'm concerned, but half the time I get told my friends are "Unreachable"… yet we can play together on every other multiplayer game we own. The matchmaking can take as long as 4 minutes to find a game.
I wish the psn was up so i could play brotherhood online, God I love that game.
Well that makes sense. The modern part of the games is set in 2012, so what better year to release the final game that focusses on Desmond's story?
And the details of Revelations sound interesting. Certainly another step forward. Being able to play as all three protagonists of the series thus far is cool, but I wonder if there will be any difference between them, or if they'll all feature cut and paste gameplay. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Peace.
Theoretically speaking, based on how Desmod learns his abilities, Altair and Ezio should be moderately different in style while Desmod has a combination of their styles.
At least one would hope.
This has cheered me up after hearing ME3 was delayed. I have yet to try out the mp.
Bought AC2 the other day, first open-world game that makes me wanna plat it regardless of its length.
That good? Hmm… I may have to bump it up a bit on my to-play list
Don't know why but this makes me sad 🙁 for some reason I just don't give a single crap about ezio and would rather play as altair.
That's what I think as well. Don't care for Ezio one bit.
What's so great about Altair though? I can understand your hesitation towards Ezio, but what makes Altair better. Either way, I wanted Altair too more than Ezio, but I have nothing agaisnt his character at all and plus they developed his character unlike Altair.
while ezio is a great character, I was really hoping for something completely different. Oh well, I'll still buy it but its far from the top of my list with all of the games comming out around that timeframe.
I might try to get into this series now with AC2, Ubisoft games get cheap pretty fast and now that it's annual that might speed things along.
Too bad Activision has a steel grip on their yearly games, I wanted to buy CodBlops for my dad and was surprised it's still pretty spensive.
Heh, I saw a pre-owned copy of Modern Warfare 1 going for $50AUD a couple of weeks ago. Madness!
Fortunately, that very greed stopped me from buying COD 4. After playing a demo of MW2, I can see that would have been–for me–wasted money.
World, try AC man, great series
I hated the first one, but I just bought the second for $20, we'll see. If nothing else I love a renaissance background. If I don't like it, expect to hear about it.
AC1 wasn't as great as 2 or Brotherhood. I thought the story was deeper though, but that was a long time ago so my mind is probably playing tricks on me. Hope you can get into it because its one of the better games on the market. I consider it better than most PS3 exclusives (not quality wise of course) outside of Deomons Souls, Uncharted and MGS. Probably forgetting some, but you get the point.
Yeah assassins creed 1 blew, I straight up stopped playing it was so boring and repetitive. Can't say the same for AC:2 and AC:B the quality and mission variety is stupendous.
50 for MW1!?
JB had blops for 5 bucks more yesterday!
I just picked up ACII for $9 last week. I had to wait so long because when I rented and tried part 1 from GF years ago, I played it for 30 minutes and sent it back the same day I got it. Hearing part II and Brotherhood are so much better, I decided to take the plunge. Have yet to play part II though, since I was gunning for the Hand Cannon on DS2, and I finally got it yesterday. Now with LA Noire coming soon, I don't know if I could handle 2 open world games at once, not to mention Infamous 2 right around the corner. 3 open world games to conquer might be too big a feat in so little time.
I loved the first 2, but I'm still on the fence with these new ones.
I just really don't know where they are taking this story and I might have to wait and just play AC:B and AC:R at a later date when I have more time. I know people say the MP was good, but I also don't want them focusing on the MP aspect for the annual releases…
Why not let them focus on the MP for the annual releases, which would allow them to really put their time and effort into the numbered releases that are more spread apart?
Actually, I don't think I'm even close to being bored yet of playing as Ezio. He seems like the star/hero of the AC series. I don't think it would seem right to make another AC without him. I'd be willing to go on many more quests with him. God dang it, he better not die in this new game.
Game informer said that you could play as ezio, altair, and desmond.
For some reason I feel as though I've written this somewhere else, but if that's true, I hope that you can feel some sort of difference between the three characters. If it's just copy and paste gameplay for all three I'll be very disappointed.
Worktime.
Peace.
I checked all of my posts in this thread EXCEPT my original one. Thankyou all for not laughing at my stupidity this morning.
ubisoft says: "actvisioned engage!"…man i hate annual series…but i like assassins, maybe i buy in some point of 2012.

Yeah Ezio Auditore is back, one of the best video game characters of this generation along with nathan drake and kiryu kazuma.
Ok cool. Didn't expect Ezio to be back though but I would have been happy either way. So this and ME3 for 2012 so far. Cool.
actuall Mell AC:R is supposed to be out in november. lol try juggling that with uncharted and other good stuff coming out in the fall. I wont be able to I know that.
Haha oh dear, the list just keeps piling up this year.
I just got AC:B from gamefly a few days ago and really like it . I never finished the first one bc it just became too repetitive for my taste but played AC2 to completion and will do the same for AC:B. I will be getting AC:R around launch time but will have to wait and see, this fall is going to be packed with amazing games.
Sweet, can't wait.
Yeah!! Me and my friends are gonna buy this one on day one, we are Assassin's Creed fans, like others have said, I would have loved for it to be with a new Assassin but don't have a problem with Ezio. I just hope that it's quality doesn't falter for being a yearly release.

Sounds good to me. As long as they keep the story as good as the first three, and of course, don't totally change the core gameplay.
I finally got a chance to start AC:B yesterday, but after downloading and installing I thought, maybe I should play through part 2 again. Then after started that I just said f*ck it, I'll start from the beginning. So yea, I'm in Acre right now.
Okay, I've been very skeptical of this game for the past couple days, but Ubisoft has really made me a believer in it now (which admittedly isn't that hard to do since I'm an AC fan, but still) with this kind of description.
Not only do we get several new locations to play in (since Altair went to several places according to his Codex, one of which was somewhere in Asia!), but we also get to play as all 3 protagonists the series has had so far. The refined multiplayer (AC:B's multiplayer is my favorite this gen, so I'm looking forward to the improvements), manipulation of the Animus and memories, and new gadgets are just icing on the cake.
I might just have to redact my previous statements about this series becoming crappy because of annual installments too. Ubisoft has shown so far, at least to me with Brotherhood, that they know how to add quite a few new things to a game after only a year of dev time. And this game sounds like it has quite a few new things in it too after, once again, only a year of dev time. Ubi's doing much better with this series than Acti is with CoD, I can tell you that. Let's hope it stays that way.

Awesome, Assassins creed is definately one of the best franchises this gen. I hope that they can differentiate the bladed weapons a bit. I'm pretty sure I could go the whole game just using the dual hidden blades lol. But the crossbow is awesome use that all the time
I hope Altair is featured in this one like in Assassin's creed 2 in a brief scene where you get to play as him again.
haha LOVE the dual hidden blades too!! My Fave weapon… HUGE AC fan! Any new AC game anytime is a welcomed event!
Love playing as Ezio as well as Altair… Desmond not so interesting to me as I prefer the historical surroundings to playing in the present.
That said can't wait for this game… lots of good ones coming out soon UC3, InF2, AC-R and ME3 will be on my list… Not sure if I will get them all but will want them all for sure.
i for one will be glad to see the conclusion of both Ezio and Altairs storys going forward. The end of a trilogy of sorts. I get the impression they are gonna explain what happened to Altair properly after the first game and tie that loose end up as well as the conclusion of Ezio.
I gotta say i'm super excited for Revelations and more so to see the direction of the franchise once revelations is released. Interesting times for the AC universe
disappointed its not AC3.
oh well, i guess ubi wants to milk this cow as much as possible before we get AC3.
i just hope they polish this game a dam side better then brotherhood!
almost every mission was broken in one way or another.
i remember wondering around for a hour with that mission where you have to help a senator pay his debts, once you get to the courtyard the mission marker disappears and a cut scene is suppose to trigger.
my marker disappeared but no cut scene, i was stuck wondering around for half a hour till i reset my ps3 and fixed it.
or the first mission where you have to destroy one of leonardos machines, it magically was stuck half way into the ground so i could not access it!
really, becuase brotherhood was the strongest out of all the installments. The multiplayer was the best ive played in recent years. Ezio finds new ways to be even more of a BA than before. Plus, its not a cow thats being milked. There is still a ton of potential for ezio to grow into an actual assassin and since he's being mentored by altair this time, he'll become an even better killing machine than before. Plus, istanbul is rich with culture. A perfect segway from renaissance italy imo
