Ready 2 Rumble Returns With New Team

Some of you boxing fans may have said at some point in the past, "hey, what happened to Ready 2 Rumble ?" Well, it seems Midway didn't have much interest in producing another installment, but that doesn't mean the series that began on the Dreamcast is permanently KO'd. German publisher 10tacle Studios has announced they will be continuing the series in collaboration with Japanese developer, Aki ( WWF No Mercy and Def Jam ).

"With the release of Ready 2 Rumble 10tacle Studios is focusing on one of the major game brands in the market," commented 10tacle CEO Michele Pes. "The family-friendly, humorous realization of the boxing sport is unique and an ideal supplement to our product portfolio."

Yes, it's true…it's tough to make a "family-friendly" boxing game, especially one that actually turned out to be popular. But both parties are plenty happy with the partnership, and will work to ensure the longevity of the series.

"We are very pleased to have experienced development partners like Aki Corporation and the producing team of Stereo Mode on board for the realization of this project," added 10tacle's Singapore Aroon Tan. "At the same time, this project underlines the strategic position of 10tacle Studios in the Asian games market as a full-service provider for development, production, funding and distribution."

10tacle released no game details, but they did say they hope to see a return of over $20 million by 2010. Well, if that's the case, we'll assume this unknown next-gen title will be released across multiple platforms. Just a guess.
