Improved Version Of Hydrophobia Flooding Steam, PSN

If you've always been afraid of the water, maybe you need to face that fear.

Today, Dark Energy Digital has announced a "comprehensive reinvention" of Hydrophobia for Steam and the PlayStation Network. Hydrophobia Prohecy will boast "brand new gameplay mechanics, exclusive new levels, a reworked back story, a dramatic new ending, recast voice acting and much, much more," the developers worked to improve the Xbox 360 release thanks to feedback from the Hydrophobia Listening Post. Said Dark Energy's Pete Jones:

"We could’ve just ported Hydrophobia Pure over to Steam and PSN after the positive response it received, but we decided to go much further. The community really blew us away with the incredible response to Hydrophobia Pure and the outstanding level of feedback on the listening post, so we wanted to return the favour and ensure we created a bigger and better experience in every possible respect with Hydrophobia Prophecy for Steam and PSN."

Well, yeah, an improved title is definitely better than a port. And the coolest part is that Dark Energy has implemented a direct feedback system in Prophecy : it's called Darknet, and "allows players to deliver specific opinions at any point during the game, which are automatically augmented with contextual data about the game state at that time." Hey… every game should have that!

Hydrophobia Prophecy will hit Steam first on May 9 and the PSN release will follow. For more info, visit the game's official site .

that's pretty neat. i hear nothing but great things about steam.

this sort of off topic but the sixth axis is reporting that a statement from sony concerning the psn outage is incoming according to the bbc. i'm hoping for some good news.

The only fear i have of water is drowning but i love water. I almost drowned when i was younger but that never stopped me from going back in, and I'm glad of that, i enjoy swimming.

lol Im hydrophobic myself.. theres no way Id try to swim/walk through that much water lol.. Id let an army or necromorphs or zombies or w/e kill me before i tried to escape by going through that (either that or find a much dryer escape route lol).

that being said yup i plan to get this game lol.

Can't stand water..I'd rather do anything but get near large amounts or bodies of water..With that said, I'll probably get this..if the price is right.

Sweet! Think it will support STEAM/PSN cross-play like PORTAL 2? I hope so! Utilizing the STEAM cloud service was the best thing to happen to the PSN this month!

Water is good. Water is what makes T-shirts wet.

Never heard of this game, but it sounds like they definitely have the customer service part down, which is more than I can say for most devs.

That direct feedback system sounds excellent. Its an incredibly easy way to get feedback, and you can use it at any time. Like you said Ben, all games should have this feature.

Also, I like how they're totally reworking criticized portions of the original to deliver a better experience for us. I'm not saying that I'm gonna get it, I'm just glad that they're devoted to making their game better. There's quite a few devs out there that could learn a thing or two from these guys.

Hey DED,

I've got some positive pre-feedback for you!

I really, really, really, really, want this, but…

it "HAS" to be on a disc!!!!!

(and especially now, after this hacking mess)
