Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of our most anticipated titles; the atmosphere and style are expected to be second-to-none.
And you know what you need for that unparalleled atmosphere? You need a fantastic soundtrack that "creates a stark emotional state." Those who really appreciate great music – and all the effort that goes into the composition of such music – should definitely check out a recent update at the PlayStation Blog , where we learn how "transhumanism" influenced composer Michael McCann. We're especially interested by "the duality between acoustic and electronic instrumentation," as this series has always been about questioning humanity. Hence, the music needs to encompass two competing sides of human philosophy, religion, science, etc.
It's a great read, and don't forget about the end part-
"Although it is a prequel, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is very much its own story – with unique emotions, characters, locations, visual design, and so forth. However, what I really liked about the original game’s score is the consistency of its very stark emotional state. You can really get into a trance playing the first game, and I think that’s very much due to the music. I’ve heard people describe the experience of 'taking the game with you' after you’ve finished playing. I very much wanted that same quality in this soundtrack – so that the atmosphere created in the game affects you even after the game is turned off."
We so want this game.

Tremendously looking forward to the score for it. Deus Ex and even Invisible War had great music. It sounds he's taking the right approach to it.
Sounds pretty awesome. This will probably one of the few multiplats I buy this year. Can't wait to play and listen.
I love it when bands/composers/whatever combine different musical elements. Like Nightwish with their symphony/metal blends. Deus Ex is shaping up to be one of the best multi-plats of the year, if not the generation, and I can't wait to try it out. It should provide a truly unique atmosphere, and a feast for all the senses. Can't wait.
Peace.
This is definitely good to hear, music can definitely add that extra punch to a game, especially when it comes to pulling on our emotional heart strings.
The music has to be good when trying to have a compelling piece of story. No one is going to get all emotional at a sad point in the game if we're listening to play that funky music.
Really looking forward to this game, and thank god that the developers are making the highlighting ladders and items and such, optional thanks to all the negative feedback they've received on that issue.
Interesting, the last game that really carried with me long after I hit the power switch was Fallout 3.
"I don't want to set the woooorld on fiiire…"
The Deus Ex series has always had great music.
And if I remember right even SnowBlind had it too, although I'll have to pop in my SB disc to make sure.
when you are blinded by snow you need good music.
I'm usually blinded by science.
(A good song BTW)
Blinded by the Lights – Another good song (by The Streets)
nice!
one thing thats been missing in allot of LEs these days!
dantes inferno has to have one of the best soundtracks ever!
really enjoyed the music in the main menu, really sets the tone of the game!
The music was one of the big highlights of the original and i was hoping so much that the new devs took note of that and the trailers to the new Deus Ex made it known that this is the case and was the one thing i said they got completely right!
Good music is essential to making a high-quality game, especially when it comes to making a Deus Ex game. Glad to see SE continuing this tradition with Human Revolution.
