Rage is one of the most promising titles of 2011 and if you're psyched, you'll want to pre-order and nab a bunch of extra goodies
It's what they're calling the Anarchy Edition , which isn't exactly a special edition: it'll still cost the standard $60, and anybody who pre-purchases the game will get a slew of bonuses. Pre-ordering through places like GameStop, Amazon, Steam and Direct2Drive will net you four items: the Double Barrel Shotgun, the Crimson Elite Armor, the Fists of RAGE, and the Rat Rod Buggy. This is one of those games that has been getting hyped through the roof, but based on what we've seen and heard thus far, it seems the game could deliver… And besides, these extra items are all free provided you drop a simple five bucks down as a deposit; no paying $100 for a big ol' special edition.
Gamers have to prioritize these days, and uber-expensive limited editions aren't always the most appealing products on the shelves.

Good ol' John Carmack: The father of FPS games. I still remember playing Wolfenstein 3D for the first time on a 386 PC. Since then, I've followed all of ID's releases. I'm sure the tech powering Rage will look and perform very nicely. When I see videos of this game it still surprises me that it's rendering at 60fps (CoD-style slick), a challenging feat for a game that looks as detailed as it does.
Anyway, this is one of the few FPS games I can think of that doesn't have a military theme that will probably be pretty awesome.
A testament to the new id-tech engine capabilities.
Yeah it was ID who invented the very word "Deathmatch", if I am not mistaken. They are the grand-daddys of fps indeed.

I'll be playing Rage, but it's doubtful for a day one. You got the fact that the 360 sliced the game to pieces which is bad, but RPG elements which are good, kind of a toss up unless there's more reason to be psyched.
Gotta love this gen, buying a new copy of a game isn't even good enough anymore, they want you to preorder too now just to get content that should already be in the game. Anyway, the game is looking good.
I think they offer pre-order incentives to almost persuade you to go with the hype over review scores. It's a solid business decision.
still cant believe there getting this running at 60FPS with all the detail and effects they have!
just goes to show how behind other developers are!
i was hoping for a really cool detailed LE for this.
i wish more publishers would put out really cool LEs like what EA did with the nano edition for crysis 2.
the amount of attention to detail in the backpack and figurine is simply mind blowing!
kicks the $#@% out of the KZ3 hig edition AND its 80 bucks cheaper!
just goes to show how overpriced sonys products are!
_______________.
Nobody twisted your arm to get the Helghast Edition.
Matter of fact, I more than quite willingly shelled out $140 w/tax for mine!!!!!
