A fresh English video for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has arrived and as you can see, it highlights the squad-based action and reminds us that, essentially, we'll be playing as the bad guys. Our target will be Leon Kennedy but we'll still have to deal with rival spec ops soldiers and of course, the marauding zombies.
Yeah, looks like what we expected: a fast-paced shooter version of what is typically a slower, fear-inducing franchise. But like I said before, you have to place this one outside the RE universe; it isn't Capcom's desire to make a "horror game;" maybe they're saving that for RE6.

Looks like Socom meets Zombies meets Slant Six meets Failure.
THIS IS CRAP. When i mean crap i mean CRAP. i am really starting to HATE todays gaming views, all everyone wants are DAMN SHOOTERS, we have enough in the market already. what ever happened to all our really good Survival horror and Adventure and RPG games? i personally think this franchise is going down the dumpster really fast and it all started with RE5. This is Plan BS……..
This looked kind of cool..until I saw the Slant 6 logo at the start of the video…If it's anything like what They did to Socom: Confrontation, this game will be a decent game a year after it releases, when they finally patch it and add some extra content.
I loved Confrontation, but Slant 6 did their best to destroy it. Let's hope they learned something from that.
Cant view the vid(using my ps3)but as i haven't played the game and enjoy 3rd person survival/action horror games like RE4&5 Dead space1&2 and cold fear i'll keep an opened mind about it and not complain about things i cant change ie. the style off the game.

PS.i've always played a new RE on day1 with a friend anyway(since the very 1st RE back in 1996)so its not that bad in my eyes!!!
this video does work on the ps3 browser. it looks okay, but it's hard to get excitited for a slant six developed game considering their checkered history
i love the re series so i will try to give it a chance…not really feeling it right now, though. leon must die? i busted my ass keeping him alive in re2, and re4. does not feel right.

Hehehe is funny they kill one of the emblematic character on the setting of RE2 , like saying FU** the old games, this is the new cool sh**!

I will just never understand the reasons behind what umbrella does. Its like they are constantly trying to contradict themselves. Lets clear out the zombies, by shooting the people who are clearing them out for us and releasing super zombies into the city.
LOL! I think it has more to do with Crapcom not knowing what they hell they are doing.
This team is not there to "clear out" the zombies. That would take forever. I believe I read that they are sent in specifically to erase any and all evidence of Umbrella's involvement in the outbreak. Killing Leon is probably just a perk for us diehard RE fans. 😉
How is killing Leon a perk for the die hard fans??

Because many diehard Resident Evil fans (i.e. the ones who didn't jump on the RE4 bandwagon as their first RE game) are sick of how overrated Leon is.
If thats the case, they should shove a hand grenade right up Chris' ass.
Are you implying that Chris is overrated? I've never seen that myself. I'm an admin at a Resident Evil forum and I've only ever seen a couple of people that even had Chris as their favorite character. Yet it seems that 90% of the people that I meet there are the pure definition of fanboy when it comes to Leon and RE4.
i can't think of a way to phrase what i'm thinking without coming off as a jerk.
I will say that RE4 was one of my least favorites next to 5 and Leon remains my favorite. And I think the reason for me is because IMO RE1 was a sleeper title and RE2 was my 1st RE.
Then people need to get over it. I doubt they're having Leon get shot as a 'perk' because of how overrated he is. Not to mention that it's impossible for him to get shot (and killed) in Raccoon City because it was already destroyed in RE4, unless he is a clone or Umbrella/Tricell has been experimenting with time travel technology as well as bio-warfare and pharmaceuticals.
I will throw out there that RE2 was my first as well and it was super awesome.
Obviously Leon dying will be noncanon. I was joking about it being a perk. It's just that everyone seems to think he's the main guy for the series, when in fact, he has only been in one Resident Evil that actually significantly furthers the RE story. And that was RE2.
Save for Jill and Claire, that's the case with everyone.
It doesn't look that bad, I'll wait for some reviews before I buy this one.

I must be missing something in the RE timeline. I was under the impression that the president ordered the attack after it was evidenced that the outbreak was not able to be quarantined.

Need more gameplay vids as well as more info, right now it is kinda meh, but with that said I'll hold off on the judging until I'm able to rent it.
Regardless of the title it doesn't scream high quality. Looks equivalent to some of the downloadable shooters on psn.

Man they're really killing RE. Even if it's just a spin off it reflects heavily on the franchise.
This game looks terribly generic.
Game looks terrible but hell it looks fun.
I think this is going to lead to the plot for RE6 with the real villain pulling all the strings and wesker was just being used.
I don't know. I mean, this game is set in 1998. Kind of hard to believe that it will reveal anything of great importance.
Why would Umbrella care about RPD? As I remember it they only cared about former STARS members with just about the entire RPD being wiped out before Leon even got there.
Kill Leon sounds just like a gimmick to sell the game, with no real backing as to why they would even want to bother killing him in the first place.
Or is Umbrella like Skynet now and sent them back into the past to off him. Makes more sense.
lol. Hopefully they give a good explanation as to why we should kill Leon.

Am I the only one thinking this may turn out to be a fun game? I mean co-op with zombies eating you and people shooting at you. That is a formula for a fun game.

Racoon city is not how I remembered it. Maybe because it.was not intended to.
Spec ops? Special teams? Wtf omg looks like slant six went for thier socom/call of duty approach … F u capcom ruined a great series , every dev is doing this now. Gaming has dissapointed me after bo came out

Well, this trailer doesn't make sense. This game takes place in RE2, Leon comes out later on in RE4. There's no hype. We all know that Leon doesn't die in this game anyway. Pretty weak sauce.
Wow, for Capcom trying so hard to get shooter fans to buy their games, this shooter looks kinda…bland. Sorry if I'm being pessimistic here, but after seeing gameplay vids of Uncharted 3, this pales very easily in comparison. Hell, even looking at SOCOM 4 makes this game look generic.
