Tony Hawk: Ride didn't turn out well and analysts have suggested skateboarding games may be on the decline.
But poor sales hasn't stymied Tony Hawk's dedication to his own skating franchise, and it appears we can expect another installment in 2012. In speaking to PixelatedGeek , the legendary skater was asked if we'd ever see another Tony Hawk game. His response was vague but still intriguing:
"We're going to do something probably for next year but I can't give too much away."
His last two games, Ride and Tony Hawk: Shred , didn't sell well at all, and most blame the oft-derided skateboard accessory. We certainly didn't like it ; it clearly needed more time in development. So either that board will have to get a lot better for the next Tony Hawk title, or they'll just go back to the standard gamepad controller. At any rate, we'll let you know if Activision officially announces a new Hawk-related project.
P.S. Just as a personal note, watching that interview reminded me of my early journalism days, working for the papers. The novelty of interviewing celebrities wears off fast, especially when your pay is barely enough to keep you from starving. So whenever I'd tell someone about the latest interview, it would go something like this; they'd say, "Holy sh** you interviewed 'insert well-known name here;' wasn't that awesome?!" My response- "Not really. I was about to ask for some money for gas."
If there is a god, that stupid piece of crap skateboard accessory will be ditched in the next Hawk game.
Hey, I love my skateboard controller.
It certainly made a great conversation piece as a multiple drink coaster.

I have to say that dog is freakier than the dogs with knives in their mouths found in games like Shinobi and NInja Gaiden 2
LOL Temjin001,
What? You mean to tell me you don't like Demon Dog's Welcome gift of a Drano filled syringe????
BTW, after he saw all those big red glowing eyes popping out of KZ3, he now swears his parents were of the Helghast persuasion.
Fear dogs with lasersbeams on their heads.

My favorite Tony Hawk game on the PS2 was Underground. I would love to see something better than Skate 1.
Skateboarding is over anyway. People just longboard around for transportation now.
yep, that's what I do, cruise for chicks and going fast.

You know what you should do next year Mr Hawk? Tony Hawk 2 HD
Does anyone still play these games? I stopped after the first one (the only one I could get into).
I love the chill atmosphere of the skate games. Hooking up with a friend or two for some skate coop play a quiet sunday afternoon is just perfect.
It looks like the Skate series died after Skate3 and if that's the case I eagerly await more info about this new Hawk game and hopefully they implement coop play.

no thanks!
his first 3 i think they were, on the PS1 were brilliant!
everything since sucked donkey balls!
I haven't enjoyed a tony hawk game in along time so it won't make much difference to me either way. Maybe they'll make a drastic change and it will actually be really good, but if that is the case then the reviews will show it.
I predict a Kinect Tony Hawk game.
