Rumor: New Call Of Duty Unveiled In A Few Weeks Time

Exactly why it hasn't been announced yet is beyond us. One would figure Activision wants to get the hype train rolling ASAP.

But maybe the inevitable announcement is almost upon us. According to UK publication PSM3 , Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will not only be officially announced in just a few weeks, we'll also get our first look at actual gameplay. An inside source claims "the next in Activision's megaton FPS series will be announced in mid-April." For the record, Black Ops was announced on April 30, 2010, when Activision revealed the game's official website. Other rumors say that MW3 may feature some sections that link to Ghost's past, which is why some have assumed he would be the main character this time around. Adds PSM3: "Based on the ending of MW2, we'd be surprised if the story doesn't pick up with Soap and Price on the run, after they were set up by General Shepherd." So who wants Ghost?

Yes, well, whatever it is, we're sure it'll sell another billion-dollars worth of copies. That's just the way CoD rolls.

It's obvious this is no real surprise to any gamer but this should be a problem. This franchise is the epitome of IP fatigue. The real issue here is that trendy gamers accepted an annual FPS and an overrated one at that! Don't support lack of innovation people your better than that!

Sure this will sell because is Call of Duty mediocre warfare 3 but I know I will not be in line waiting for it, instead Battlefield 3. BF3 has a new engine, the game won't have $15 dollar map packs, and will up the ante on vehicular warfare with jets, and not to mention enhance the effects of tactical destruction. The real shooter of last year was Battlefield Bad Company 2, and this year it will be Battlefield 3(for Military FPS).

I hope they simplify the controls for helicopters in Battlefield 3. I don't mind a learning curve sometimes but, i just want to get into the action and blow stuff up. Nothing is more satisfying than flying a helicopter and annihilating things with an AH-64 Apache.

Yea the whole cod thing is a little ridiculous now. I certainly won't be buying this one, just like I passed on black ops.
I just don't understand the point of paying $60 for a game with a couple new guns, and a new location.
Activision is going to lose the market. Even the stupidest of people who keep kissing cod's ass will get fed up with the price tag when other companies are completely over hauling their product, like Battle field 3, and socom (Which I haven't been able to stop playing the beta :P).
You can't keep giving out the same broken crap and expect it to stay number 1.

I would have no problem if they actually put effort into a new call of duty, and built a more realistic game engine, and added new elements, not just switch kill streaks from dogs back to a predator missile.

But anyways I am definitely getting socom, and then battlefield 3, depending if I can break away from socom lol. Won't even be thinking about picking up cod.

You are sooo right. COD will never be the best military shooter until their is a new developer.

Call of Duty might be poor in quality, but their are really no innovations by any developer except the refinement of KZ2/KZ3 thunderous gameplay and the nanosuit in Crysis 2. CoD is the reason why FPS are so popular. The casual audience that picks this up probably thinks everything is copying it. I remember back in my PS2 days when all I played were NBA games, GTA, race car games (arcade), and MGS. And then I rented games like Manhunt, Max Payne, etc from time to time. Everything that came out that resembled an open world game was a GTA rip off too me and I never cared to try anything else. That was my mindset when I was a casual gamer, though times have changed…I can understand why CoD is sells so much. It's name recognition as we all know by now. Personally, I have never owned a CoD title, I rented both MW2 and Black Ops. Both were just plain whatever too me after KZ2.

Yea I hear you, killzone 2 was and is one of the best games I've played on ps3 as far as multilayer goes. Resistance was another amazing title back when it came out.
But it's true however you look at it the fps is rarely innovative.

Like killzone 2 and three seem too similar for me to really get into three.
I like playing 3 but not as much as I loved playing killzone 2.

A big thing with me when it comes to shooters is the graphics. And I never really could stand to watch a call of duty game till mw2, and now they lack so much in visualization that it's a complete turn off to me.
Plus the complete rushing of call of duty games so the developers literally don't have the time to fix glitches and numerous bugs, never mind updating the game engine itself which in the long run would be a huge win.

I've been playing the socom beta, and it's a great refresh to the franchise, unlike slant six's hiccup…
The graphics are stunning, and it has a huge realistic shooting feeling, where you don't just run down the middle of the map and rank up 20 kills on the way.
Plus being a third person shooter makes it feel a lot different from similar shooting titles.

although there is a lot of CoD haters on this site, and i must admit myself that the series is getting worse and worse quality wise… you still have to congratulate Activision, although many would say the game doesn't deserve the sales it has still sold millions of copies and made activision billions of dollars therefore they are INCREDIBLY SUCCESFUL and everyone must remember that in the end business is all about making money!

haha, i wouldn't be surprised. I bet the MW4 will have the same engine as COD4:MW(the best COD EVER!) to bad their are to many idiots in the world that don't know a copy when they see it.
Is there a comparison between Black ops and COD4:MW any where? I bet the only thing BO has is graphics and Zombies… So sad :/ how to people buy stil buy these games!?!

I would rather spend my time playing as sheppard from ME2. also i will be to busy around the time that this will probably come out playing as a certain Mr. Drake. well top it off with im not a twitch gamer and have never played CoD. i have mag, killzone, bioshock 2 and resistance if i want some online multiplayer and all of those in my opinion are better games.

come on guys, cut call of duty some slack. each cod game represents the absolute pinancle of cutting edge graphics, and ultra smooth 60 fps gameplay…just kidding!!

is this the one where they have 3 or 4 diferent developers working on it? iw, treyarch, raven. who am i leaving out? we know they aren't making a new engine so i imagine this will be a lot of the same.

this one will probably sale tons as well. it has the added benefit of modern warfare in the title.

^ That stuff shouldn't have a $60 price tag… Tbh it should of just been like their ridiculous $15 maps. I feel the spec ops should of been a dlc for cod 4. The campaign was short as hell as well…

Seriously….it's either a COD announcement, or pre-launch hype, or the launch, or the post-launch ratings talk, then people realize this is just like last years game, and then you're right back in another announcement for the next same game with a different name.

It really is nuts.

its treyart who do that tho iw make a game then try make one and add a few new things the iw make another which has added alot since cod4 but try just take that and add a little more…..if try werent making the games it wouldnt seem as bad

the fans dont care they enjoy the games…….if they didnt they wouldnt buy em yes its annoying they havent made a new engine and i really do expect something completly new from the next cod
i dont put the mw games in the same catagory as w@w and black ops as i think they just take what the mw games did and add a couple of new things everytime but the difference between cod4 and mw2 is pretty ok apart from them making it a bit more arcadey

Excelsior1

i agree. listen, i know cod isn't going to win any popularity contests around here but it does have a loyal following that enjoys the series. they don't seem to care that it doesn't have a new engine or whatever. they just want to enjoy playing online with their friends.

it's not like it's a terrible game, either. even this very site gave it an above average score. maybe people get a little tired of talking about it. it seems like we are talking about it every few days on this site, so i can relate to the that.

Wow, same engine, same tired game play, same dated visuals. Literally the same crap over and over again. When will gamers see that? Stop buying COD and buy from developers who are pushing the envelope, not keeping it. Our hobby got to be this big and awesome behind truly revolutionary minds, if we cease to support the people who create better games, and only buy crap like this, then we may one day have to kiss this all good-bye.

If a game like uncharted made a billion dollars naughty dog would have giving us two games for one. The problem with call of duty and why i hate it most has very little to do with the fact that they use the smae engine. It has to do with how long it stays at 60 dollars. All three COD that have come out after MW1 are way above the price range that all other games are.

This is the reason i cannot respect activision and their games. They are utterly a stain in the industry. If a game makes a billion dollars dont ry to sell it for 60 dollars for two years, cut the price in half after three months or something. Sure I understand that they would have to very their times for each installment in relation to a price cut, because people would then just wait untill its lower in price. But come on activision.

Oh guess what a new spiderman is coming out and i will bet someone a billion dollars it will play and look just like shattered dimensions. It really makes me ill that a compnay like naughty dog can't make a billion dollars. Reward those that work hard and care for the consumer not those that exploit them. If anyone that reads this buys call of duty modern warfare 3 and has ever complained about living in poverty or how they can't make a living then all I have to say its compnaies like activision that make life harder for the majority of people.

FM23
FM23

So your blaming Activision for poverty?…lol, or are you saying stupid people spend their money unwisely? Either one works for me. But I feel you though, Black Ops still costs $60 buck while everything that came out in the same time frame is reduced. I couldn't believe MW2 still goes for 60 bucks, even used copies cost a good chunk compared to other used games. Can't blame them though, the market is ignorant and if I had a product that I could keep mass producing with making it better…I would do the same thing…lol It's all business w/ Activision. I'm not saying I support them, but they want to make money of idiots so yeah. Won't be getting my money though.

I enjoy CoD hate all you want but I like arcade shooters don't care for battlefield. CoD got the formula right I look forward to buying a new CoD every year. CoD are the only games I actually buy. All other games I play I just rent and beat them in a few days and return them. I tried battelfield with a bunch of friends and its just not the same as CoD. CoD is way faster paced than BF. I'll get BF3 but for PC not ps3. CoD is fun hate all you want but a lot of people enjoy it. People like the run and gun not tactics like in BF. People like CoD and it will keep selling for years to come. People will wait to buy BF3 to see the MW3. Also I guarantee EA will charge for map packs and if you want everything unlocked as well I bet you can pay $20. EA is just as greedy as Activision. Everyone hates on CoD but the more you talk about it the more it sells.

Lairfan
Lairfan

So you're saying you don't like slower-paced experiences that don't just throw everything at you at once? You're saying you don't like strategy or anything like that in your shooters? You're even saying you don't buy any other game except for CoD? I must say, you lead a very sad gaming life if all you buy is the same game year after year (regardless of its "arcade AWESOMENESS111!!!!1!!1").

Btw, the more people talk about how the game sucks, the more people will start to listen and understand how the series is stagnating. So basically you saying CoD will sell because people talk about it is not going to hold true in the long run.

wow, this guy is a perfect example of activision's current/target audience or call of duty zombie if you will.

twitch gamer that would rather just run and gun for instant gratification rather than thinking. doesnt even think of writing his thoughts out properly. only buys call of duty and tries to justify it over other games. the only new maps i remember releasing was the ones from vip members, bought the game new. the other add ons for bad company 2 were well worth the price. one had new a new game mode and a few maps (i think) and the other is a completely different setting and weapons which is a new game in itself compared to call of duty dlc and its prices.

i'm definitely not waiting to see mw3 and jumping into battlefield 3 day 1. mw3 isnt even on my radar. with uncharted 3, resistance 3, and battlefield 3 coming out, i'll probably wont even notice mw3 until the next time activision tries to scrape together pieces of their developers to make another game.

bluedarrk

If I wanted strategy I'd play CS. There is no such thing as bad publicity the more people talk about it the more it sells. I'm sure you said the same thing about black ops before it came out it won't sell its the same thing but guess whatit sold 14 million copies something that battlefield will never do not even the new BF3. Graphics don't make a game its the game play. People love CoD the game play is the same. We don't need a new engine or a brand new game we all enjoy CoD. You can't hate on someone for liking a game. I only buy CoD cause that the game I play the most why buy a $60 game that I'll beat and never play again? People want CoD they like the fast paced not the slow paced strategy the sales numbers speak for themselves. EA has a lot riding on BF3 with the $677 million dollar loss they posted. Regardless of how good BF3 is CoD fans want CoD and nothing else. You say sad gaming Ilife I say Iplay a game I enjoy with friends and thats all that matters. EA is already going to hurt BF3 sales because if you buy it second handed you will prolly pay $10 for mp. I look forward to the next CoD and I'm sure 14 million other people do too.
