The long-time MK followers will recognize four classic faces in this tag team footage: Scorpion and Sub-Zero throw down against Cyrax and Sektor; it's the bestest ninja vs. cyborg encounter ever! You will notice the great backdrop and all those awesome silky smooth animations, and the action is fast and fierce.
Even if you're not the biggest fan of fighting games, you have to admit…that looks pretty damn cool . Sektor's laugh after his annoying teleport uppercut might get irksome after a while but then again, a whole lot of things get irksome if you start losing in MK for extended periods of time.
Who hasn't claimed a certain move by a certain opponent is "cheap?" Admit it. We've all said it.

I know I have! Usually the "breakdancing" sweep kick! Over and over and over again. Dammit man! Do something else beside juggle my poor soul with the sweep kick!
Anyhoo, I am excited about this game. It's not my genre of choice, and will be the first fighting game I actually purchase! Been playing the demo for a while now, and love it!
This may be random, but my favorite thing included in this new MK rendition is the little head that pops up when you pull off something cool that yells out "Whoop diddy!"

This is Klassic MK with beautiful graphics, awesome animations and top notch "jiggle factor"

If it's like the other games you should be able to punch in a mini code when the Toasty guy shows up to fight a mystery character like Noob Saibot
i downloaded the demo and played it. it was pretty good, but i was not by blown away by it,
this looks so gorgeous

sub zero is my favorite as well. i like how he can freeze people, and walk over bash them while the other player is helpless. that vid blew me away way more than the demo did.

I'm a big fan of fighting games, but I only buy the ones I consider to be of pure quality. This game is one of them.
MK9 brings back a more strategical 2D gameplay where it's actually all up to you and not about how much you can side-step (3D) or how much you can parry something.
The "energy" gauge really adds a lot to the game. You can use it to spam a lot of special attacks or you can use it for those awesome x-ray moves.
Felt so natural and so fun playing the game, it's the sequel we wanted after MKII and it'll definitely kick ass.
Kratos will make this even more badass.
Agreed, things went awry straight away with MK3.
Not a huge fan of fighting games, but MK was one of the best and I'm glad they are returning to their roots. Played the demo and it had a very good old school MK feel to it.
Only downside, now people don't have to learn the moves, game will tell you all of them.

Ok so I'm nitpicking.
It's not going to tell you everything. Even the massive movelists in the Tekken games since… 3, I think, I don't remember… leave a bunch of stuff out.
One of the features in the game is a Fatality practice mode thing, but apparently it only teaches you one of the character's fatalities. The second one still has to be discovered.

You can find them on the demo, it tells you how to do the stage fatality and personal fatality.
There are 2 different move lists, once you open the first you have to hit some other button to see some of the special moves, including the fatalities.
The game tells you ONE fatality, each character has at least two — some will have three later on, as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile will have retro fatalities to go along with their retro costumes. The stage fatality isn't their second fatality.
I haven't owned a MK game in a LONG time!!! So I just might have to add this game to the collection. I love Scorpion and I really want to play as him again. It's been a while since i could play as a ninja. haha i remember the first MK game for the PS1, I remember there being a tornado involved near the end of Stage 2 that I could never beat, it was like a platform game or something.
The last Mortal Kombat game I bought was Mortal Kombat 2 from PSN when the PSN store was still web based and it had no games or content except MK2.(wow PSN has come a long way since it's launch) haha I hadn't bought a MK before that since MK2 on SNES.
Yeah I remember the web based PSN Store haha Bad times…bad times lol I found out the name of the MK game it was MK Mythologies – Sub-Zero. Good times…good times.
The demo was decent but I wasn't blown away, maybe because the game really could look better. I blame Unreal 3. Soul Calibur 4 looks better and its way older. Still though, it's a 2D Mortal Kombat, which is all I've ever wanted since the series lost control of itself so yeah count me in when I have the time. I'm happily mired in RPGs at the moment.

Gotta forgive them a bit on the "could be better graphically" department since it's a fighting game.
I actually disagree with you about Sou Calibur, this looks just as good (I own SC by the way). SC has more light, but that's about it.
When it comes to fighter the artistic direction is what matters most, can't expect GOW-like graphics.
I do think that it's sad that considering it's only a 2d fighting game the character models still have to look like gorilla's.
Now with the males it's not that big of a deal, but the women look a bit masculine.
A fighting game should look better than a 3rd person action game because the gameplay is so much simpler and there's just less content. It renders backgrounds instead of whole levels, just a few characters on screen at a time, a few basic mocaps.
Just gonna chime in here for a second. Ed Boon said, either on his twitter (which I'm sure that's where I read it) or in an interview, that the demo is from an earlier build of the game. So maybe the graphics will be a little more polished in the final release? I dunno.
What I DO know is that this game makes MK vs. DCU look oh, so crappy. I put it in a few days ago, 'cause I'm feelin' the MK hype pretty badly, and that game just looks awful.

This looks pretty awesome. I am just wondering why there is a dragon chasing a Blackhawk around
that's becuase the mk universe is invading ours. the dragons have evil mk characters have crossed over into our universe. a dragon chasing a black hawk. what's cooler than that?
Yeah, that. This MK game is a retelling of the first three games' story. And in the third game, Shao Kahn and Outworld invade Earth and everything goes ass up.
Well that helps clear things up. Sound pretty awesome too. Hopefully it won't bring back memories of Dragon Wars.

I had hopes for that picture as I love kaiju, but maaaaan. I don't even think I made it all the way through it. haha.
Love the game, i prefer Motaro to goro but that is a small detail i can overlook.My only issues are the fatalities(some of them reek of MK 4 ideas) and i thought there were brutalities. In the end at least its not MK vs DC, that was rock bottom.

was so much fun going on a adventure as MK characters, a new story staring sub zero and scorpion would be sweet!
RAAAAW.. IM READY 4 THIS. subzro & rayden my main characters but i use all the other ninjas. i watched this vid atleast 3 or 4 times now.
kratos fits the MK universe perfect cant wait to see his ruthlessness.
I'm loving the detail with the sound…but for the x-rays…shouldn't the robots not have bones inside? Thats my only minor gripe about an otherwise amazing game…from what I can see
