Warhawk Changing Course To PSN Store Only?

We've been hearing about Warhawk on the PS3 for quite some time; in fact, it's been on our radar ever since E3 2005 when we were treated to a pretty sweet trailer. But for whatever reason, that game has just failed to materialize, despite having another trailer on the PlayStation Store for the system's launch.

According to 1Up's Sam Kennedy, the game might not even exist in single-player retail form, as development appears to have taken a drastic turn. At this point, he says Warhawk may only be a multiplayer-only download from the Store.

"What I do know is that some interesting cuts choices have indeed been made in terms of its scope, and I'm curious to see how they'll go over with people (myself included). What Warhawk has apparently evolved into is a multiplayer-only title featuring ground and air combat that'll be downloadable from PSN.

Well, if that trailer currently on the Store is any indication, we can't say we're entirely disappointed or surprised. That was a very lackluster demo, and one that kinda made us all go, "…huh? What happened?" So perhaps this is the best move, especially if they're risking a downright horrible addition to the PS3's lineup. That, we absolutely do not need.
