Given the number of questions, one could form a whole lot of theories and opinions concerning the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
A reader has told us about a new MGS-related survey Konami has presented to the fans; you can find it on the publisher's Facebook page . It asks all sorts of questions, ranging from game tactics to extra content, and even a mention of different platforms (i.e., Would you be interested in a Metal Gear game on an Android phone?).
They even go all the back to the original MGS title in the first PlayStation era so Konami is obviously very curious about the current mindset of fans. It even asks you to detail a few answers; for instance, after you pick the MGS title that had "the most fun gameplay," you have to say why it had the most fun gameplay. Then it goes on to ask about platform preferences, why you decided to play a certain title, and your preferred methods of gameplay in certain game situations. So it'll ask something like, "what do you do when you're spotted?" The answers range from just killing everyone to setting traps to trying to disarm and disable without killing.
It's a long survey and all MGS fans should probably participate. We're just wondering why Konami needs all this info, and what they might be planning…
now that is a survey i will go on facebook to fill out. will check that out in a little while.
Hopefully there's a question at the end like "Do you want Kojima to prove he's not a one trick pony and do something else?" with an answer option like "YEAH! YOU CRAZY INFANT!"
Then, i'd take it.
Btw and OT. I just picked up Persona 3 FES after reading so much about it here!

Have you never heard of Zone of the Enders?
The game he only had a production role in ala Boktai? Yeah. got Snatcher on Mega-CD and Policenauts on 3DO (His only two other full productions) minus both consoles…and look how old they are…and one of em is a BladeRunner clone!
My stance will unchange until i see a new project….as much as i like the fella.
Why?
I really don't get this kind of viewpoint. If the franchise he nurtures is great and has always been great why not let him do it as many times as he wants?
People are way too picky. Seriously, the day I'd oppose a MGS is when they actually make a bad MGS.
Otherwise give me Metal Gear Solid 5 (Sunny)
Hmm…Lotusflow3r flying off the handle about a person/game not being original/only being a one-trick pony? IMPOSSIBLE!
@Scarecrow:
100% agree with you mate.
It has become the trend for some people to say what lotus is saying.
However if these people are MGS fans – which I presume they are – and also presuming they played MGS4, I am baffled that people do not want more of what MGS gave.
As a person who has played every MG(S) (a very, very big MGS fan), I would loved to see a MGS5, even if it's a prequel.
I'll definitely take part in this survey. I can only pray that it leads to a HD Collection of MGS 1-3 on PS3 as well as a director's cut for MGS4 (with trophies). It'd be great to see The Twin Snakes ported to the PS3, too, because then I could finally sell my Gamecube since that's the only game I have kept it for. Yeah, I know… keep dreaming, right?

The only thing, and this is with great emphasis on ONLY, is that Metal Gear is developed for the PS3.
Since it's obvious that 3rd part exclusives are becoming rare, Konami needs to avoid the 360 during development until it's completed. Once it's done, port it over to the box, and it's 4 DVD's.
I actually suggest that in the closing comments of the survey. I requested for Kojima Productions to please develop for the more advanced console and port over if required to anywhere else regardless of the media that is utilized.
This survey is definitely looking for insight into portable and mobile devices for the MGS franchise.
If you say you either don't own a PSP, or that you are not interested in MGS on a mobile device, the survey ends VERY QUICKLY!! hahah.
I'm a home console guy myself, and I already spend too much time playing somedays….so I don't need another avenue to play games.
Yeah, I went through and took it again saying I did play Peace Walker because I wanted to see what the rest of the questions were.
Not necessarily true.
Peace Walker (PW) is the last game Kojima made, it was only out on the PSP and was considered to be MGS5 in reality.
It was a fully fledged MGS game.
If you haven't played it, it is no use to Konami and Kojima Co because you cannot compare previous MGSs to the latest and therefore cannot suggest what aspects you preferred and would prefer in the next installment, be it on mobile or home devices.
Well if they think it was a TRUE sequel then they should have made it for the PS3….

@Sven:
If you read my unedited reply, you will see that I said PW was 'considered' to be MGS5, it couldn't be numbered '5' due to being on a portable console.
Please see:
http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2010/01/22/kojima-peace-walker-would-have-been-called-mgs5-if-it-werent-on-psp/
In order to know what elements of PW people want in MGS5 (which is likely to be on a home console) they are taking this survey.
Simple.
I'm on it.
Cool, very engaging, though i still think MGS is finished….
That will be nice if they ported the MGS games, portable ops and peace walker to the PS3 and following the HD collection- MGS 1 to 3.
Where can I fill out the Final Fantasy survey for Square Enix?
Finished the survey. It actually seems like they want to be aware of the audience and what they want prior to development. Yeah, I know, Who doesn't? But I make me wonder if it will limit any future projects.
They had A lot of detailed questions. In the closing comments I suggested that they develop with the PS3 and port if needed. Regardless of the media format. I am tired of the limitations due to lowest common denominator. I also want some NGP/PS3 integration as hinted by Kojima at the PS Meeting but without gimmicks. Otherwise don't bother. Hideo is a visionary so I am not worried.

I wonder what they're planning. I really hope that it's nothing more than a Classics HD set, because I want to see Kojima, and the rest of the world, move on from MGS. I love what I've played of the series thus far, and I do want to collect the rest of it, but it should end with Rising.
Peace.
im not on facebook so im not gonna do tthis, but my speculation…. couldn't they make mgs 1-3 + portable ops and peace walker and possibly acid and whatever ones I may have missed all updated for ps3 on one bluray? maybe even mgs4 too, just one big mgs collection. it would be killer. personally I've only played 4 and had to use that mgs database dlc to keep up, I was really interested and would love to play every cannon entry. mgs5 would be interesting, as we know rising isnt the real next title.. but despite what I would want im gonna put all my eggs in the psp2 basket. some new or remade mgs on the ngp that has connectivity withe the ps3 with some sort of nuts remote play. but looking at how peace walker ended up on the psp, makes the idea of of a ngp mgs seem really hopeful.

don't need to be a member of facebook to complete.
*Cough*
Zone Of The Enders
*Cough*
I actually wouldn't mind a ZOE compilation disc. I had a demo disc for the PS2 with ZOE on it and I loved it, but I never actually picked up the game.
I just took the survey and told them I wanted more of mgs4. That game ruled, best quality game ever.
they should listen to people like you and I.
Is there a "Do you want to see Sunny as the lead character in MGS5" question?
Please say there is
Why in facebook though? meh site
I'm with kraygen, a BIGGER MGS4 in new locations, new bosses, and new gameplay elements = win
Pardon the double post. But it's easy. All they need to do is implement new features that would be fun. How about new gadgets like setting up traps for enemies? Like
-being able to trip a soldier
-being able to use martial arts on the "rookie type soldiers"
-being able to listen to enemy's tactis (like you can put your ear on a wall and hear how they're going to guard the area)
-Depending on the location being able to use the environment to your advantage (if it's a city being able to use lights to blind your enemies or turn off to disorient them)
There's so much they can do….just hire me.
Now there's some good ideas. I like it.
I gave the utmost respect to Kojima, because this guy is a pure perfectionist and genius.
His MGS3 alone is the most sadly beautiful video game ever made and most emotional story ever told in a video game. I believe I cried even at 3rd or 4th play through. Also, if you pay attention to the scrip of the game, especially from The Boss, it was very very philosophical and deep, hardly any game scrip was written like that, only Lost Odyssey's dreams matches to that level of depth.
I am not even talking about MGS4,2,1 and MG on the NES. and then there is Peace Walker which I think is the biggest game on PSP, and there is this beautiful song Heaven Divides. Listen to that song, have you found any other songs in any other games recently even close to it? Also the Metal Gear solid main theme, personally, I think it can replace the National Anthem, feel very very emotional and patriotic…. Point is, no one makes games the way Kojima does, the story, the complexity, the emotional elements, the sacrifice, the sad yet beautiful unfolding….every thing, every little move, every little weapons, wall, grass, step… nothing can be more perfected than his game. therefore, I gave my biggest Salute to him. (from Big Boss!!!)
and I believe in this article matter, he is again planning something big.

I just did the survey. Snake belongs at PlayStation. Without Snake, it just isn't Metal Gear.
interesting.
i really enjoyed MGS4, still one of the best ps3 games!
i wish it would go back to the hardcore stealth ways of old though.
the sneaking through corridors, using a million gadgets, destroying security cameras, hiding bodies, & if you get seen you instantly fail.
now THATS a stealth game!
that allll sounds awesome apart from the INSTANT fail bit.
i reckon that should be on a harder mode so those who want that can do that, but those who just want to enjoy it (which usually on my first play through is what i want) can just enjoy and not spend hours on one bloody level because some knob keeps seeing you.

Done 🙂
Best believe this survey will be mentioned in a cutscene in MGS5.
why isn't there a peace walker review on this site? surely it deserves a review just as much as prinny: operation panties, dood. peace walker was a pretty significant release compared to prinny, and i can't find a review for it here.
i would very much like to see a review for it here.
anyways, i love the mgs series. great series. i have very fond memories of mgs1. it had a great story, and all the dialogue gave the charcters a lot of depth. there weren't a lot of games that had that much voice acting at the time, and it gave the game a lot of charcter.

cant answer this as ive only played mgs4 (which was AMAZING) so yeah, but maybe he wants to make a true MGS5 for ps3, make it the truuuue finale and so he wants it to be everything the fans really loved. thatd be awesome.
but what id really like is an MGS collection on ps3. so i can finally play em all.
