But maybe we weren't expecting to be blown away. …then again, maybe we should've expected it. The Elder Scrolls is always epic, after all, even if it has never looked quite this good. The new trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , featuring both cinematics and glimpses of in-game action, is about to impress the hell out of you.
Frankly, I'm not the biggest fan of this series but I always try to love it 'cuz I think I should. Maybe Skyrim will be the one that finally hooks me. As for everyone who loved Oblivion , I'm pretty damn certain you're going to adore the fifth installment; just make sure you make some time for it. You could really lose yourself with this one.
By the way, Skyrim has a November 11 launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

It truly is Temjin, however you forgot a bunch more not only is dark souls coming out but the Todd Mcfarlene and R.A. Salvatore rpg Kingdoms of Amalur which honestly looks quite amazing, Daggerdale, LotR war in the north, the witcher, and there are a few JRPGs I cant remember the name of.
The amount of RPGs coming this year is staggering and I love it!

Oh, and Xenris. I haven't heard of thems-ones yet, probably cause I'm not so much a hardcore RPG gamer as I'm more of a hybrid gamer. Sampling many types of genres etc. But if any of those listed games turn out to be well received, I'll probably check 'em out 😉
Hahaha I'm not an RPG junky per say, I play any genre that has appealing art style, interesting worlds and a good story. I keep up on just about everything interesting that is coming out in the calendar year I'm in. Its how I stumbled upon the Kingdoms of Alamur seriously do a search on it, looks awesome 🙂

Meh… the only real difference I saw was that when in third person, instead of sliding along the ground while running the character actually steps.
EDIT: I stand corrected, I watched a second time and the graphics have been upped majorly… well done.

I'm curious, though, the video is more than likely running off a PC. So I'd expect foliage density and texture quality to be down a notch for us console guys. BUt who knows? Maybe it'll be the real deal for us =)
Here's hoping 'cause I don't do PC these days.
PC is to expensive compared to consoles. TIs one of the reasons why I got a PS3. Can't deal with the upkeep…
i have never played one of these but i may be starting on this one. that is some cool stuff.
I think my heart stopped. I have hope again. Bethesda says they improved the combat and you can now dual wield.
The graphics looked amazing, probably pc graphics, but still, they looked a lot better than oblivion.
I had some issues with oblivion, but still loved it, can't wait to play this, releasing only a couple weeks before my birthday, you can guess what my birthday wish will be.
I still have to finish Oblivion, but damn! This game looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing this one.

I simply won't have time to play all these, some games are just going to have to miss out, this shite is crazy fellas.
11.11 is my birthday and that is one good birthday present. Interesting, are Bethseda planning to release some special version for those who have a birthday on the release date (that would be terrific).

I don't think so yet, but I imagine it would look very close to this vid. Bethesda is usually pretty good at keeping the graphics the same across multiple platforms.
This isn't technically footage on any console. So theoretically, although it's run with a 360 engine, it's possible they could scale up or scale down the end result to fit whatever it needs to fit.
Sweet. But speaking of graphics in RPGs I just played the Dragon Age II demo and what the hecks going on? It seems to only be running in 480p and it looks like an Xbox1 game!
So I wasn't the only one that thought that xD.
Demo didn't do the trick with me, gonna use that money on this one instead.
Really? I havnt tried it yet got to much going on. But what a let down. I trust you so hopefully it just a demo thing. Was their a disclosure before the demo started, stating it may not replicate the final product? 😉

i absolutely agree with you about the dragon age 2 demo. the textures look very flat. i was thinking it kind of looked like a beefed up ps2 game, or i guess a xbox1 game. not very impressed.
World, the DA games use the Eclipse engine. I haven't done much research on it, but I think it's a heavily PC oriented engine make-shifted to work on consoles, more-so than say UE3.
The graphics definitely aren't going to win any awards, but I must say it's quality RPG-goodness.
I did read that thread but i hadnt played it yet so i didnt wanna comment.
@Gimmedat: The animations are definitely smoother but something else is up with it.
I did just recently have to use the colored HD cables while I wait for a new HDMI cable but my other games haven't been affected by it. When I say its in 480p that's because if you hit the PS button suddenly the PS menu is huge and washed out like it would be in that resolution.
I think and hope its just a demo issue, that looks like an early specially made demo. But I trust Bioware to hammer it out cuz the ME2 product was much improved from the demo. It was just freakin weird. The cutscenes looked on par with DA1 is a bit flattened in texture, but gameplay was really poor looking. I still think it will be a solid game and graphics aren't the most important thing to me in an RPG but compared to ME2 it really does look like its last gen based solely on the demo.

You mean, beefed up XBOX 1 game or maybe a PS2 game? (PS2 had much better visuals and was the only system that generation capable of 720p resolution)

I adore Fallout, that's the only RPG thats ever got me really hooked, for some reason I prefer having guns to swords and sheilds? Anyway, this looks brilliant.
That's fair. To each their own, right? I never had an interest in guns, and I've always been impressed with the athleticism involved in swordplay, so I'm the exact opposite.

well, it may be a new engine, not sure, but it's Bethesda, so expect it to be bugtastic regardless.

I've been hooked on Elder Scrolls since that half naked chick on the cover of Arena enticed me into a purchase. This one just looks outrageous. I can't WAIT to ransack those towns.
