RPG Veteran Working On “Big Huge” Game

It just wasn't enough to be the lead designer on the last two Elder Scrolls installments ( Morrowind and Oblivion ), so RPG guru Ken Rolston has decided to swing back up into the saddle. This time, he's part of the Big Huge Game Studio – responsible for the likes of the renowned strategy series, Rise of Nations – and he's gonna drop another "big huge" console RPG.

"Ken's addition marks a bold new direction for Big Huge Games," said Big Huge Games President Tim Train. "We remain committed to creating real-time strategy games such as past hits Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends. At the same time, we've explored developing a role-playing game for several years now. Ken is a fantastic fit for us on every level, and gives us the leadership we need to be confident of success in our new venture."

We're assuming the plans are for the the next-gen consoles (specifically, the PS3 and Xbox 360), but those details have yet to be revealed. We're also not sure exactly what kind of RPG to expect, but considering Rolston's past, we can certainly make an educated guess. After pondering retirement, Rolston seems quite excited about his return to the game world for another go-round-

"A chance to work on a Big Huge Game with Big Huge Games? Who could resist?" said Rolston. "I had planned to retire and rest on my laurels after Oblivion, but Tim and his army of visionary charmers came along with a strikingly original and cunning concept for a console RPG…so now I'm back in the harness and chomping at the bit!"

We'll let you know when they release more details on this project, which is bound to be…well, big. And huge.
